Well, the party's over! (I think there's a song to be sung there!!) but unlike the song, we've had a great day. It was brilliant to have all the family together - everyone gets on very well so it's always good fun. The 4 grandchildren played together all day - 'proper' games like hide and seek and What's the time Mr Wolf. They built dens in my study (glad I hadn't just washed the bedding!) and played with the dogs. The puppy was fantastic - he thoroughly enjoyed himself and only attacked the Christmas tree as they were getting ready to leave! Nobody bothered with their phone, tablets or any other gadget. Yet again, I've eaten too much. I'll have to dig out the elastic waisted jeans for tomorrow!
As GD2 was leaving she gave DIL1 a hug and said 'this is the best birthday ever'!!
Tomorrow should be a quiet restful day..... should be!

My kind of day Daisy , sounds like GD will want her Birthday party at yours again next year
My youngest two like to play hide and seek in my bedrooms although its easy to find them they always in the wardrobes
Good morning all, I see we are in for a lovely warm sunny day....well we can dream can’t we ?
I don’t know about you but I am a tad fed up of this grey cold weather now , it seems such a long time till spring.
Was anyone unfortunate enough to have one of those horrible turkeys from Tesco . A lot of people had rotten rancid turkey that had to be thrown away. Even though the turkey had a horrible smell some people went ahead and cooked it and then became ill. Surely the smell would be enough to put anyone off cooking it ?
It was the Tesco finest fresh turkeys that had the problem.
Reading some of the reports, staff who have worked at Tesco say that fresh meat is left waiting for a few hours upon delivery before putting them in the chiller and they have recommended that all meat should be brought from a butcher which is fine but then suggestions have been put forward that this practice is also know to take place at butchers also . It begs a question who can we really trust with the food we buy
Mimi, we were talking about the turkeys at Tesco with BIL yesterday.
He used to deliver to Tesco and Asda. He said Tesco were always slow at gettin things in.
Sometimes,he used to make a second delivery, and the first lot would still be outside.
When he delivered to Asda, they used to be waiting, and things were stored straight away.
Going to have a look at Oma's photos, then get some jacket potatoes in the slow cooker.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.
Morning Mimi & Nanto lovely graphics on this cold morning
Another day out for us picking MIL up at 11.30 to go to BIL's ,
I need a day in ,its lovely getting invites but lordy I'm tired and sick of seeing tables full of food
I also need to change the bedding , I'm determined to stay in on Saturday
Have a good day ladies hope no one has a cold or feeling unwell xxx
I have a bit of a poorly tummy this morning, and during the night. I suspect self inflicted from too much liquorice and chocolate!
I will come back and write more later

Good morning ladies. I love the nice warm, cheery graphics Nanto and Mimi! It is actually sunny here this morning, but there's been a heavy frost overnight. Still, it gives the garden a chance to dry out.
I only saw the headlines about the rotten turkeys. We assume that with all the dire warnings on packaging and labels that the supermarkets have the same high standards they lecture us about. I'm one of the 'old' school' - if it looks and smells ok and I cook it properly it will be ok, but it seems incredible that people will cook rotting meat and then eat it!!!
We have a nice quiet day today, I hope. The washing machine repair man is coming later this morning. We think it's just a new pump, so fingers crossed! Eva is worn out after 3 days of looking after the other family dogs (she's turning into a mother hen!) but I'll drag her out for a run later. I could do with it after 3 days of non-stop eating! I could also do with having the washing machine fixed - the laundry basket is overflowing, all the towels need washing, plus a pile of dog towels.
No cooking for me today. There are plenty of leftovers from yesterday. I love leftovers!!!
Oma - it's amazing where small children manage to hide. I banned the understairs cupboard when GD2 accidentally closed the door on herself and the light went out! Even the boys who are obviously much bigger managed to find some good places. They kept the game going for ages! I often get to the stage where I need a day in the house - just to maintain what little sanity I have, let alone do anything essential!
DS2 emailed me a photo of Cooper - he'd fallen asleep on the sofa within 30 seconds of getting home.
Whatever you're doing today, ladies, I hope the sun is shining for you.

Gem the liquorice will be the culprit , it is a laxative
Hope you feel better soon self inflicted or not .
Daisy poor Eva she must be worn out being a mummy for 3 days
Spoke to my BIL this morning , Maureen ,( Judiths partner) had managed to sleep all night she was worn out after the Funeral and all the upset , it was the first night alone since Judith died ,so naturally she was dreading it but managed well ,
The sun is shining Daisy but we still have the white stuff. I am very envious of you having leftovers, I love bubble and squeak and cold meats but goiney have a visitorg to DS's both Christmas day and Boxing day I haven't any leftovers to indulge in.
Poorly SIL next door, DD has just been in to ask for paracetamol, he has a virus of sorts and his sinuses are so painful it is giving him toothache. GD2 took their painkillers with her to Yorkshire as she had period pain. It is very unfortunate as they have a visitor staying for a couple of days.
Birthday party sounded like fun Daisy and dear Eva acting as mother to your doggy guests.
Oma your Christmas is never ending but after last year you deserve the fun.
Hadn't heard about the Tesco turkeys and don't understand why people cooked them.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
Lovely sunny morning here. We are off shortly to the hospital for P to have his biopsy, not sure how long it will take but I am going prepared for a long wait. There is a big Tesco nearby so I will have a walk there and have a browse around and a coffee.
A funny Christmas and Boxing Day, I felt quite subdued and it all seemed a bit too much for me this year even though we kept it low key. Still, it was nice being with people and Boxing Day was good with friends round. I now can’t wait to get the tree etc down and packed away. I will do it over the weekend. Have a good day everyone 🌞

Enfys - I hope P doesn't have to wait too long for the biopsy. You must have felt as though you were in limbo over Christmas, and I can quite understand wanting to get the decorations down and tidied away. Now, at least, P's treatment is starting and while it won't be an easy few weeks you can look for the light at the end of the tunnel and know it's getting closer.
Take care, dear. Hope to see you soon. x

I am seeing the NHS consultant on the 4th and got a letter Christmas week to say she wanted blood tests. I phoned and told them I had all of those done privately so why can’t I ask to share them. No was the answer, we want our own done. Seems a waste of resources to me, exactly the same tests done twice and the cost to the NHS when it has been paid for plus the inconvenience of having to go to the hospital. Anyway I went today all ready for the usual hour long wait (and sometimes much longer). Got there, took ticket number 36 and didn’t even get a chance to sit down before I was called in. Lovely, in and out in no time.
