We had a lot of rain during the night, but it's stopped now.

Going to Wakefield today, we don't really need anything,
but i think hubby is a bit fed up staying in.

Have a good day one and all.

      Good morning everyone.

I know how your OH feels Nan2, it can get a bit like that at this time of year!
Daisy, at least less ironing was generated, as you say

The snow is still on our paths and road. As we haven't ventured out of our road since Thursday teatime I am sure we will find all the major roads clear.
DD2 and SIL were away in the countryside overnight on Thursday night to celebrate their December anniversary. A lovely little away from it all hotel. They awoke yesterday morning to lots of snow, and the journey home was 'interesting'! At least they got home safely, it just took a lot longer.

Off to buy the NYE fireworks today. It is 18 miles away, but OH and her car can cope with any residual snow much better than I and my car can!
We will pick up a couple of things for new years eve and day while we are out, and maybe call in on my auntie.

Have a good day everyone. No slipping!!

I am in for a mystery day.. All I know it is a treat for my birthday which is tomorrow.DD GD and I are catching a lunchtime train to London but they won’t tell me where we are going. OH is staying home with SIL and GS .
(Sadly G keeps forgetting though I’ve told him over and over. It breaks my heart but I mustn’t let it”get” to me.)

That all sounds lovely, Clover. I hope you have a wonderful time. So sorry about G, you know he would if he could xxx

Had a busy day yesterday, shopping in the morning. We went early and it was empty so very easy to get what we wanted. When we got home I decided I would take down the decorations and tree, I’d had enough of them so down they came. It was lovely to have a good clean up and get back to normal. DH took down the outside lights so that’s all done. All the Christmas goodies have gone , for which my tummy is very grateful 🍗🍷🍤🧀

Having a more restful day today, but I do want to sort out my craft room and find a project for when I go back to my art group. Have a good day ladies 🙂

Nothing planned today, I shall be pleased when things get back to normal now. I am thinking of taking my token decorations down but I always leave the cards for a bit longer. Sil has had a nasty virus, his mother, sister, brother and his wife are all poorly, they were all together Christmas day, I am pleased I was at my DS's.

Have a lovely day Clover, I wonder what your DD has planned for you.

This morning I have drafted the letter re the fall husband had, sent an email to our friend in Barbados whose husband died in September, done an hour of my course, had a bath and washed my hair, walked to the village shop (in the pouring rain) to get the paper.

Now I am going to tidy around, unload the dishwasher, clean the fridge out as have a Sainsbury delivery tomorrow in readiness for family day, check I have all ingredients I need for the hot buffet, sort the ironing into what I will do and fairy will do, might even do mine today. Then I have to start sorting out the drawers and things in our room. Everything has to come out for the wardrobe etc as the carpet needs to be taken up and disposed of as well and thinking about it we are going to be camping in the sitting room for about four or five nights so I want to make sure that everything we need is easily get-at-able. I feel a bit stressed about the upheaval if I am honest.

Clover have a ve a lovely day.

Oma - I took my boots off day before yesterday and couldn’t find them to go out yesterday so had to wear trainers. This morning before I got in the bath I went into the cupboard in the bathroom and there they were! I don’t temember putting them in there and I must have been very distracted because they are knee length boots so not small but the cupboard is not big so it is not just you OR have I caught it off you? Nah I have always been forgetful.......

Just a quick hello from me this morning as we have family coming over soon.
Heaven only knows how I am going to fit myself,OH, DS , DIL,DD,SIL three GS’s and one GD into this small flat , it will be a squeeze but it will be worth it.
I am doing buffet type food as it will be easier.
Shame eldest DS can be here also but at least we get to see him tomorrow to see the New Year in.

                    Have a lovely day everyone

By the way Zizi I once made myself a cup of coffee and several hours later I could here OH shouting from the kitchen “Where is the coffee “
We searched high and low but couldn’t find it. Next morning there was a knock at the door, it was the milk man ( this was back in the 70s). In his hand he had my jar of coffee.I had put it out on the doorstep instead of the empty milk bottle that was sitting in the fridge!
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi I have the same problem with space. 3 x grandchildren and six adults including me and husband in small flat makes a cosy gathering!

I once lost a cheque (years ago) and e entually found it in the freezer, goodness knows why I put it in there, it was big chest one in the shed at the bottom of our garden in the old house.

Good afternoon ladies. I can't believe I didn't wake up until 9 am this morning! I am on cat-feeding duty for our neighbours so quickly got dressed and went to feed them. The owners said they would put food down before they left yesterday afternoon - but had forgotten! I have never been so popular with 3 cats in my whole life! I gave them an extra bowl full to make up! Then we realised it was glass box collection day (it's usually Tuesday) and raced round to get that out, plus the neighbours'. With being away fro Christmas it wasn't as embarrassingly full as it usually is.

Two more loads of washing done. Just a couple of loads of towels, then I shall polish my halo!!

Clover - I'm really curious to know what your birthday treat is. I'll be thinking of you and hoping you have a wonderful time. Big hug from me as well about G. It's so hard and you are coping very well. Would writing things down on a fridge notice board help - or even drawing a picture?

Mimi - that sounds like a very busy day for you. But I'm sure you will all enjoy it and everyone will muck in to help. xx

Zizi - you will be more than glad when all this work is done and you can give up camping in your own home. xx

Enfys - have you got any thoughts on your next art project?

Nanto - sometimes it's good just to get out without any particular plans - just have a mooch round and enjoy yourselves.

Gem - I do hope you and OH can get out on to the main roads in safety.

Plant - I hope your poorly family recovers soon. I'm glad you escaped!

Oma - if I didn't know better, I'd say you'd been on the 'pop'!!!!!

Zizi - that cheque was obviously part of your frozen assets! (Sorry - couldn't resist!)

Mimi - I wonder what the milkman thought!

Nan I know just how OH feels we have cabin fever here , can’t wait to go window shopping with nothing else on our minds and coffee and cake might help
Hope you have a lovely family day Mimi despite the sardines syndrome funnily enough I always sit on the floor with the kids when at other houses

Q I am not retired unfortunately. I am back at work on 4th January although I will not be going up to town or Birmingham or Manchester. Every Christmas before I have to return to work I say to myself that maybe it is time to stop now but we have a plan which is being actioned now so I am committed to staying at work as is husband who does receive his state pension which we put away in the rainy day fund.

Daisy, you must have needed that sleep.
Qwerty, glad to hear there is some improvement in one twin and that at least they are sleeping.

The roads were fine and most of the snow in our road has now disappeared. We bought the fireworks and went to Sainsburys for the shopping, which was very busy.
I'm a bit worried about on of my cats, she doesn't seem quite right, her appetite is decreased, and is holding her ear oddly, I fear an ear infection. Why do these things happen when vets are not open??

Qwerty - sleep is often the quickest way to recover - I hope the other twin is soon feeling better, too.

Zizi -I'm sure your action plan helps to keep you going at the pace you work at. I hope whatever is happening in your company works out ok for you.

Gem - Glad you were able to get out and back safely. If you are worried about your cat, the vets have to staff their practice 24/7 by law. Unfortunately, they usually charge more for OOH treatment. I do hope she's ok. I remember Clyde being in agony one Sunday morning - shaking and howling with pain. We rushed him to the veterinary hospital. They couldn't find anything wrong, but by then he seemed to be in less pain and the vet gave him a shot of something. We left £90 poorer, I carried him across the car park, put him down while I opened the car - and he howled once and did the most enormous poo you've ever seen coming out of a Yorkie and was all smiles again!!!

I wonder what Clover is doing on her birthday treat?
