Hello everyone, we are all packed and ready to go. Will not be leaving for another hour because we cannot get in until 3pm and we need to go and do the tyres of my car which I have been saying we will do for ages. They aren’t dangerous but the on board computer keeps telling me off so I will give it a Christmas present and obey it for a change!

We only have one large suitcase not the 26 I originally promised but it is quite full. We are taking a bottle of champagne and our special glasses plus my dad’s Picture, a candle and a little tiny vase for his rose and of course the iPad for speaking to the children tomorrow.

I am wearing slightly festive clothing: Black leggings, lime green fluffy long jumper to hide my bum, black polo neck, black knee boots and a red/green/orange coloured scarf, it is one from the Poppy collection and I really like it, brightens up any outfit. I have an outfit to change into tonight for champagne and canapés and dinner but I don’t know which one yet.

I hope everyone's plans plans go smoothly and I absolutely forbid anyone to do anything stupid like using the flat hissy thing or CLEANING THE OVEN you know who you are! Sending love to everyone x x x

We got here and I realised I had left my dad’s rose behind. I cried. Husband says not to worry he can have his rose Boxing Day at least he is with us here and we have his candle. I cannot believe I left it behind. First time without a rose for his birthday for 18 years.

The hotel is every bit as lovely as I remember and the room is really nice as is the gift of prosecco, chocolates and gingerbread. Lots of lovely pillows and a proper make up mirror on the desk by the window. One of my big bugbears when travelling for work is the lack of natural light to put on make up. There is also a coffee machine, kettle etc. and an iron and ironing board. The note that came with the gift says will be housekeeping from 9am until 1pm tomorrow and if we want our room made up out the note on the door handle. I am sure the maker upper of rooms will want to get finished as soon as possible and we are perfectly capable of making our own bed so we will put the no thanks sign up.

All clothes hung and otherwise put away so going to have a cheeky little glass of something to start the festive season off.

I hope you all have fab times.

So sorry to hear the twins are unwell, what a rotten time to go down with a virus Qwerty. I can't remember the last time I had a dumpling

Blinis, trifle and bread sauce made, feeling very tired but it is too late for a cup of tea and too early for a Christmas Eve drink.

Have a lovely day tomorrow dear friends.

Zizi I can imagine how upset you must have been to find you had left the rose behind.

As you might expect - our day didn't go exactly to plan! Our neighbour rang this morning to say don't go round - her husband and her eldest daughter spent last night in the bathroom with sickness etc. Their younger DD had been poorly over a week ago and they thought they'd escaped - but they hadn't.

I still seem to have been busy, but we took Eva out for a good run at lunch time.

This evening OH put all the bags of Christmas presents in the hall ready for loading into the car tomorrow. A bit later he asked my why I'd given Eva one of her two presents (one to open with each of the other family dogs). I hadn't given it to her - she'd helped herself, avoiding the other 3 'doggy' parcels, she'd taken out the net of Kong tennis balls, unwrapped them and was trying to get the net off! She was so pleased with them, and kept picking them up in turn and carefully placing them back in a straight line! I know the trainer says she's a smart-a***d dog, but I didn't know she could read labels, and I didn't know she had OCD!!!!

It's officiall Christmas Day, now, so wishing everyone a happy peaceful Christmas, I'll say good night. xx
