Oh dear Mimi, sorry to hear all your news. I got up at 7am and sat in the sitting room but felt really overwhelmed with tiredness so went back to bed for half an hour which turned into one and a half hours! So I am sitting here in my nightie wth a big green fluffy jumper in and sparkly slippers, hair that looks like it has been in a tumble drier and NO UNDERWEAR!!

Have a lot to do today so really need to get my act together. Ummm no I am going to sit here a while longer and maybe have a cup of hot chocolate and then get my act together.

Have to clear the shelf in the hall, empty the black cabinet in the spare room, do some meat shopping for the freezer. I don’t think I have to do a supermarket shop. I ha e a Sainsbury. Oming in Friday and will add to that. If something doesn’t turn up it won’t be the end of the world. The shops will be open the day after Boxing Day anyway. Also have to change the bed, do some washing, fling the sucky upper around, polish the furniture, ring Ben who goes to US tomorrow until 31st and there is one more thing but I cannot for the life of me think what it is. It will probably get to 2am tomorrow and I will remember ........

Oh it is not half past ten by the way my clock is on old time.

        Sad news on here today.
Thank you Nana for getting in touch, we worry about you when we don't hear from you.
I am going to attempt to get the car out this morning, need to go to Waitrose, the roads are okay, just the area outside my garage door wasn't cleared and is a bit icy, I have been out and put some salt on it. If I don't manage it, I will abandon the car in the drive. Went to the cinema with GD to see Wonder yesterday and you wouldn't know it had snowed once you leave the village. I had 3 hand delivered cards yesterday when I was out, sorry I missed them, I am not going to attempt to deliver my local ones until next week, GD is going to walk up to the post box to post my other cards, I hate being dependant on others.

We were in Sainsbury's at 8am and it was lovely and quiet , full shelves apart from chickens ,
Fancied a roast chicken for tea tonight but the only ones they had were a bit scraggy , Girl said they were putting more fresh Turkeys out than chickens ,
Well that's fine but what about people on there own or just want a quick roast and don't want a huge Turkey ?

So,sorry to hear your sad news Mimi.

Finally managed to get out to deliver our local cards. DH managed the walk without too much trouble, which was good. It’s lovely and sunny but with an icy, biting wind so we are staying in for the rest of the day.

Oma, we are having a chicken and pork on Christmas Day as just 3 of us. We have ordered them from our local butcher, to pick up just before Christmas.
              Mimi, that is very sad.
Plant, better to rely on family than have fall. Sometimes, we have to be a little less independant than we would like !

Sad news for us is GS1's best friend, just 5, has broken her thigh bone Yesterday, her daddy was taking her on the front of his bike. It was icy the bike slipped and they fell. The bike fell on top of little L and broke her leg. To me is is so unwise to take children on adult bikes, even with helmets, and especially when slippy. I know many people do it, but I am never happy to see it. She is a very active little girl, so this will hit her hard I think.

Gem, i have to say, it was a bit silly to take the little girl on the bike. i bet her Dad feels awful now.

No cooking today, fish and chip day
No cooking tomorrow, going to Sheffield shopping,so we will eat there.
No cooking Sunday, been invited to eldest sons for dinner. His partner will be there as well.

Sorry to hear that Mimi it is hard at any time of year but especially this time. Gem I am assuming the child was on the cross bar. I know we used to do that all the time as kids but these days child seats are a reasonable price. Hope she is OK for Santas visit.

We did go to the supermarket but only a quick shop, or should I say small shop as it was a bit bonkers in there so it was not quick. I reached up to get a large bottle of laundry liquid and the bruddy thing fell and the top hit me on the cheek. No bruise yet but I am sure there will be. I shall tell everyone husband did it! No I won’t not really, well unless he annoys me that is.

Yes Zizi, think it would be crossbar. Her dad does feel awful apparently. GS1 is a sensitive little soul and has loved L since they were toddlers, so I'm not sure how he has taken this news!
                      Your poor cheek!

Nan2, 3 no cooking days, brilliant I can't complain though, as OH cooked last night, we are invited to friends for a meal tomorrow night, and we are having Sunday lunch out with my auntie!

GS2 resisted his nap today, which is unusual, but I think he has gone over. Once he wakes we need to set off to GD's school. I think OH will stay here and watch snooker, so another drive in the dark for me

That poor little girl, that is the largest bone in the body, I broke mine many years ago playing table tennis in the garden.

It is a lovely feeling when the mortgage is paid off Oma.

I managed the shopping, Waitrose very busy. Our road is still very icy and the rear of the car slid a bit when I straightened up after I joined the road from our track. Waitrose car park was fine.

When ours was paid off a couple of years ago it was almost unbelievable considering when we moved in here we were in quite desperate financial trouble. I redacted all the other transactions on a photocopy of the bank statement, laminated it and stuck it on the front door with silver stars all over it. Husband came upstairs with it in his hand looking very confused. “Some weirdo has stuck this on our door” he said not noticing the champagne and glasses on the table!

It is the not having the mortgage to pay that has given us the money to do our flat renovations. It is indeed a wonderful feeling especially when you know that your property is worth so much more than you paid for it! Well done that young couple.

Plant I do do not intend going to the supermarket again until we come back from our Christmas away. It is not at all icy here and in fact I didn’t even wear a hat when I went out today.

I want to make some blinis for nibbles Christmas pre-lunch but I couldn't get buckwheat flour today. After we have opened presents, I am going back with DS,DIL and 2 GS's to their house for Christmas dinner, I am making DS a trifle, bread sauce and taking small Christmas puddings, leaving a large one for DD, she is not sure if her guests like it. I am having a taxi back at 9.30, all booked, just need to find the buckwheat flour.

Oma, it's a lovely feeling when the mortgage is paid off isn't it. I can remember it well.

Good luck Plant, for finding buckwheat flour.I have heard of it,but never seen any. Never looked for it though.

Gem, enjoy your meal out tonight.

Very quiet weatherwise. No rain,no wind.Doesn't look frosty either.
