I have been awake since 5am and up since 5.45am. Going off to get the paper and some milk in a minute (just dropped a bottle of milk all over kitchen floor!). It is still half dark here and very, very frosty. I thought the weather forecast had said the temperature was going to rise this weekend, well it definitely hasn’t. I haven’t put any washing on yet as I want to dry it outside but it won’t dry if it stays like this.

Ben and his parent fly off to Florida today from Gatwick. One very excited little boy when we spoke to him last night on the phone! Reminded us they are going to FaceTime us on Christmas Day so please make sure I have my iPad with me.

I agree with everyone about being mortgage free. When we bought this house we had to take a biggish mortgage for our stage of life. We knew OH was to get some money from the sale of the family home, but not when this would happen (complicated story) Luckily for us, we had only been here a year or so when this came to pass, so then we were mortgage free! If not no way could OH have retired at 60.

Out for dinner at a friends house tonight. Another friend, who lives in our village is driving us, so no taxi needed
A couple of things for OH and I to get this morning, and hand deliver some cards. I want to call in on mum too, to replace the batteries on her light up Christmas tree star.

Out this morning to my family history group, taking mince pies for our little Christmas party. Should be fun and as it is held st the library I can get some more books. My sort of Saturday morning.

Good morning everyone.

There's been a heavy frost overnight, but the sun is shining now. I have to get on with the chores as the GSs plus dog arrive at lunch-time and I've got to sort their room(s) out and various other jobs! Sometimes they share a room, other times they want to be separate, and GS1 has a bad cough, so I think they'd be better in different rooms!

Catch up later, I hope, but with no ipad and my computer in the boys' bedroom I won't get much of a look in!

I have tried our Waitrose for buckwheat flour, we have a health food shop in our nearest small town I am sure they will have it there. I will try next week, hoping then more of this white stuff has gone. I did have some but I probably threw it away as it was out of date. GD2 and boyfriend arrived yesterday evening, boyfriend will leave to spend Christmas with his family at the end of the week

Oma just had a call from Joe, they go on Tuesday but they are going to New York first. He said he wishes he was going with Ben. I pointed out that when we were out at dinner the other day he was looking forward to shopping in some trendy (and probably expensive) shop in New York so he will have the best of both worlds. He has now decided that clearly he has the best deal.

Off now to make lasagne for dinner. Lasagne, salad and garlic bread. Easy peasy. Roast pork tomorrow then have to defrost some stuff for the rest of the week. Made a menu list but have lost it, you know one of those “I put it somewhere safe” moments.

No bruise from being attacked by the detergent bottle yesterday but it still feels it might pop up.

DD3 called in to drop off her presents for my sister. She was on her way to visit her closest friend who is recovering from a tonsillectomy. Hopefully seeing her best friend will cheer her up!

I didn't get time to go to mums today, so will do that tomorrow.

Took a trip down to Suffolk today and have finished Christmas shopping! Got a couple of silly things for DN and her eldest DD; Adnams hoodie and Orford Smoked salmon to take to DS, now just need to wrap and post DN's stuff. Was a glorious sunny, but bitterly cold day. Now just need to decide what we're taking to DS's and get the packing organised!

Had a good day in Sheffield today. Had a couple of hours in the city centre,then got the bus to The Moor.
There was a few shops there we wanted to go in. Had a nice meal there.
Walked back to the city centre,they had more decorations there.
