The best new of another busy day for us Grannies has to be Enfys'. I'm so glad it all went smoothly, Enfys and you and OH can now try and enjoy your relaxed Christmas.

Perhaps next year we should have a virtual GransRus Pantomime. I'll put it in a separate thread!

My day didn't go to plan. The GDs should have been with their other Gran today, but when DS2 took them to her house she was still in bed and not well. This was the last trading day for the shop today and they knew it was going to be extra busy, so DIL left them with the other Gran, saying she'd get the other Grandad (they are divorced) to come and collect them and take them back home for the day. I assumed that had happened, so rang DS2 to say would it be ok to take some dog food over to their house rather than drop it off at the shop where it would defrost. Yes, fine, he said. But when I got there the house was empty, so I popped the food in the freezer and decided I'd better call in to the shop and see if everything was ok. There was a queue outside the door! DS2 and DIL were run off their feet and Cooper was howling in his crate. So I took him out for a walk and he still wouldn't settle - too much going on with people laughing and chatting (it's a very social shop!) and DS and DIL run off their feet. So I spent the rest of the day dog sitting and washing up a sinkful of cups etc. So I neatly avoided having to use the sucky up thingy, and do the ironing. Unfortunately, both jobs are still waiting for me!

Plant - I'm sure they'd manage, but I doubt the washing up would have got done today!! I ended up being quite stern with Cooper - he was trying to take advantage!

          Good morning ladies.

Oma lilies give me a migraine also. We were in a pub once having a meal when I had to ask the bar staff if they wouldn’t mind taking the lillies out of the room . I had begun to feel very nauseous and extremely dizzy , the sure sign for me that a migraine is on its way . In the end I had to leave as I was so unwell.

I don’t have a lot of pre Christmas preparation to do now , I suppose the fact that we won’t be here Christmas Eve and Christmas Day has something to do with it. My grocery is being delivered this morning and my neighbour is popping over this afternoon to collect her turkey which is sitting in my freezer at the moment . She will be feeding our cat while we are away so I have to show her where we keep her food and her hiding places as she is the worlds most panicky cat. I also have a Christmas present for her so I expect she will tell me off but never mind .

By the way is this one of those ‘sucky up thingys’ I have seen mentioned a few times on here and do they really work on their own ?
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi, you have to push the sucky uppy thing yourself.

Good morning ladies. Nanto - since the Good Fairy of Housework seems to have disappeared is there any chance that beautiful angel in your graphic would push the sucky up thingy for Mimi and me?

Oma - I hope you find the perfect gloves. After years of searching and even thinking about knitting my own, I found the perfect fingerless gloves a couple of weeks ago. They're really just like woolly sleeves with a thumb hole, and nice bright cheery colours.

Clover- what a busy day you've got. I'd give your sucky up thingy a rest! Have a lovely time with your family. xx

Mimi - I'm finding it so much easier knowing I haven't got to 'do' Christmas Day this year. I could get used to this! We're going over to OH's niece in Southampton this afternoon for tea and mince pies. OH's eldest sister and her OH will be there too, so a bit of a family gathering. For the last 3 years I've had a big family do on the 27th, but it's GD2's birthday as well and at 4 she really wants her own party, so this year we will be seeing family at different times. So this morning I need to get on with the ironing, take Eva for a good walk as she'll have to stay in on her own this afternoon, and start the baking. Fingers crossed, of course!

                  Have a good day, ladies.

Husband and I both have sore throats today! He has just gone to get the paper and my dear dad’s rose which will come with us to the hotel along a candle and his picture.

There are sucky up things that are robots you know! They are little things that you put on the floor and they (allegedly) travel around the floor sucking up! I am going to look into them and see a) how expensive they are and b) what the reviews are like. Husband has fixed ours but the same thing will happen again as it always has. We do have a Vax but it clings to the carpet so hard that I can hardly move it, it is like doing an exercise class every time I have tried (not often as prefer the little one even though it is rubbish).

Nothing happening in this house today except going to do the tyre pressures on the car. Oh and the husbands colleague is popping around so he knows where we are and where everything he will need is for when he comes tomorrow and Christmas Day to stay over. I need to put a blonde on my hair this afternoon as well.

Have a good day everyone xx

                      Good morning everyone.

I have to cut all the stamens off lilies, as the pollen is highly poisonous to cats.
I hope the sore throats are soon gone Zizi.

We had great time last night. My Christmas really starts once we see the panto. I did really well with the seats this year (booked back in March you may remember!) and we had the middle 4 seats of the front row, in the dress circle!

Today we have friends coming for lunch. I'm making mushroom stroganoff. Later I am popping in to my mums. This evening OH and I are visiting some friends, and taking their childrens presents.

Have a good day, whatever you are doing.

Gem - well done on getting the best seats in the house! I'm glad you enjoyed the show. You can use some of the best lines in our fun GrandRus Panto so we can all share it.

Can't decide whether to pop to Waitrose today, just want some fruit and tonics or go with DD tomorrow when she goes to pick up the turkey, I will think about it. Need to do the breadcrumbs for the bread sauce and cook the last of the mince pies from the freezer. My DD doesn't like lilies in their house, I do have them occasionally but always cut the stamens and the, can't remember it's name, piece that drips nectar, they damage my mahogany table.

Have a lovely time with your DS's Clover

Panto and seats sound good Gemini

Hope the sore throats go Zizi, you need to be fit for your hotel Christmas

Gem, well done for getting good seats.

ZIZI,hope the sore throats don't develop into a cold.

Didn't think we needed much shopping, but we had 2 large bags full, plus supermarket shopping.
Hubby saw a watch in town that he liked,so i bought him it for Christmas.
Already had bought him some things, but more like stocking fillers really.

Mimi and ZIZI, yes you can get those robot type hoovers, but i have heard they don't do the edges very well.
                                And, that would never do.
