Gem, I've been thinking about you all day and wondering how your Mum's funeral had gone. I'm sure you are physically and emotionally drained tonight, but you've done her proud, and everything went as she would have wished. You can't do more than that, dear. Sending big hugs.

I remember your Mum being dehydrated just before she went into the nursing home, so It's understandable that she had bed sores, poor lady. Glamm, I hope Jim's clear up quickly too now he's getting treatment for them. xx

Glamm, you've certainly had a busy day, but your little GD sounds a sweetie pie, even if she is also a whirlwind. I do hope Jim will go for the respite care. It will make such a difference to him, I'm sure.

Nanto, I'm so glad you have had a lovely birthday day, and hopefully busy with good things.

We've had a busy day as well. I walked Eva round the block first thing and then we went shopping - a grand tour of garden centres as it turns out. We got vouchers for one garden centre for DS2's birthday on Sunday. He's still setting up (expanding, really) his veg plot, and a few bits and pieces for us. Then went on to another larger garden centre and got some plants to fill the gaps in our garden - we lost several new plants to the frost this winter. We also needed chipped bark, ericaceous compost, all-purpose compost, garden grit and a few other bits and pieces. OH wanted the same brand of bark that we've already used and theirs was different. So we went on to yet another garden centre - who had sold out and didn't have ericaceous compost or large bags of all-purpose compost either. So we left there with a small bag of grit! We'd stopped for a very nice lunch in the second place, so time was getting on and we needed to get back for Eva. We were just in time for Eva to get invited out for a run in the Forest with Missy, and to have a quick sandwich before OH went to the wood turning club! I'm still trying to catch up with WhatsApp messages and emails!

Fingers crossed for another fine day tomorrow to mend the side fence - not as big a job as the one we did last Saturday. I'll get some of the new plants in hopefully.

Good morning everyone, Gem, you will be drained after all you have gone through the last few weeks, I am pleased the funeral went as planned, they are always sad occasions. Take care.xxx

Daisy, you did have a tour of the garden centres. I see the ones here are getting very busy.

I went on the mystery cycle ride yesterday morning, only 10 ladies turned up for it, they must have known the heavy rain was coming, oh dear, what a ride!!! It would have been lovely with dry weather, my jacket was waterproof, my shoes and trousers were not, oh and my gloves, it was such a cold wind with it, we were all frozen! We stopped for lunch at the other side of the village at another of the locations, I then decided to come straight home and let the others carry on, a good thing I did as the fridge man was early, they are replacing the fridge, he said they should have done that in the first place as all these visits have cost more than a new one!!

Last night was the "party" night, I really enjoyed it, there was a pizza food truck, I am not a pizza lover, these were those really thin ones with different coverings, they had school children serving, each time they would come round with the lovely fresh pizza's, it was a success as well. I managed not to eat too much though. There were other foods and plenty to drink. We all got a book they had published for the 55 years, interesting. I was talking to the local journalist a while, he and another man wrote the book.

Today GD1 arrives, I will be hearing today what the plan is, DS1 mentioned yesterday I could eat there so I will see what happens. They have a new settee so I can admire that at the same time.

I am going to fitness first, then doing the coffee before doing some shopping.

Good morning. I think rain is forecast for today.

Not much happening here today I don't think.

Oma, hope B is feeling better.

Hubby has requested chips, beans and egg for dinner. Its one of his favourite meals.

Good Friday morning, everyone. I had to check which day it was - this week seems all out of kilter.

Nanto, I could do with your friend the Weed Police to come and sort out part of our garden! The weeds seem to outsmart me every time.

Lizzie, your bike ride must have been a disappointment for everyone. Well done for sticking it as long as you did. Thank goodness your fridge man has realised that you need a replacement. You've been very patient about all the problems. The party night sounds fun, even if you're not a great fan of pizza. You've got another busy day ahead. I don't know how you do it! x

Gem, I hope you slept well last night and your back is still improving. Have you got a quiet relaxed day today?

Oma, has B given you his cold? It sounded like it yesterday.

How is everybody? The weeks seem to fly by and we're always here and interested to hear about you all. xx

it doesn’t seem to have developed thank goodness and B is almost better.

Been shopping , I did too much , had to sit down as I became very light headed and couldn’t breath ,
Sat for 10 minutes and B got me a cold drink , I was fine after but the walk to the car felt like a mile .

Oh, Oma, you really must take care of yourself. Having to take it easy to walk to the car shows you are pushing yourself a bit too hard. I hope you're taking it very easy now and for the rest of the day. xxx

Plant, have a lovely time at GD's. How are her tomatoes doing?

                      Hello again.

Take care Oma, and take things slowly. That must have been a bit scary for you xx

Gosh Lizzie, that was a wet ride!! Pizza night sounds good though.

Daisy, if only other things grew as well as weeds do!

The massage although painful (one of those things which feel good when it stops!) has really loosened things up. It's amazing how many muscles are so tight and sore once she starts, some I don't realise until she works on them. She gave me some back exercises to do as well. My aim is to be able to walk like a normal person although I suppose that won't happen until/unless I get a new knee(s?) Improvement would be good though and the ability to be able to stand for more than few minutes without pain.

I'm putting my feet up now. GD and GS2 to collect from school this afternoon.

                        Good afternoon Ladies.
Well, quite a lot of water has gone under this bridge since I last posted, but I have popped in from time to time to try to keep up with you busy people!
We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary in April, but went on a big holiday in March. We went to Kerela and had a wonderful time.
Having previously said I will never have another dog, having had dogs all my life, we were asked if we knew of anyone who would take on a 9year old Border Collie.
They had us at ‘Border Collie’.
We now have a 9 year old Border Collie!
                        We are in love.
Apart from that, all sorts of other uninteresting-stuff-to-others has gone on, the usual age related medical hoo ha, fed up with the cold and wet etc.
Glad to see you are all keeping busy. Carry on Gels.

Oma, the eggs we had today were duck eggs, that a farmer friend gave to hubby.
                          They had lovely big yolks

Gem, pleased the massage loosened things up..

Just been a day of housework for me.

Weatherwise, its like going back to winter today.

when we came home from shops I had a hours sleep I was exhausted, I felt a little better so we went to a new Artisan bakery that has just opened on one of the industrial sites near us .

Its a whole sale place but sells to the public at the back of the bakery ,
                            The smells were wonderful.

We bought some sourdough bread and some fresh lemon croissants buns ,
The Baker told us how to Freeze the sour dough bread if we were not going to use it all ,
He said it freezes very well .

It wasn’t cheap £5 a loaf but it smells and looks amazing

B stripped the bed this morning and I got them washed and dried , he is going to remake it later ,
Its came in quite dull and cold compared to this morning .

Congratulations on your Golden Wedding Grauntie!
                              And new doggie

There is an artisan bakery in our village Oma. It supplies many cafes around York.
It's lovely but we rarely go there as it's so expensive.

Big change here weather-wise too Nan2. It was nice this morning and got steadily worse.

I'm a bit sore after the massage then all today's driving so I'm easing it a bit with a hot water bottle now.

Grauntie, many congratulations of you and Mr Grauntie on your Golden Wedding. You have certainly celebrated in style. I confess I had to look up exactly where Kerala is - India's a big place! and it looks amazing. Did you get to any of the wildlife parks during your stay? I'd love to hear all about it in a separate thread if you've got a minute between looking after your new BC.

Is your new BC hi-octane, or at 9 has he/she calmed down a bit? They're gorgeous dogs and great at out-smarting us humans, aren't they!

I hope the health hiccoughs are sorted. A friend was saying to me yesterday as fast as she gets one problem sorted out another crops up. She reckons it's old age!! Never!

Nanto, I've never tried duck eggs. Do they taste very different from hens' eggs?

Gem, have you got another massage booked? They do seem to be helping, thank goodness. We've had a big change in the weather as well today - much colder and heavy rain at lunch-time.

Oma, just imagine living next door to that bakery! Lemon croissant buns sound amazing. Have you tried them yet? Silly question, Daisy!!!

This morning our neighbour came round and helped OH replace a couple of panels on the other side of our garden (that neighbour was working!) They got them finished just as the heavens opened. We were also moving a hydrangea which wasn't very happy on that side of the garden. Yesterday I bought a pot for it. I thought 50cm would be ample, but the root ball was huge! So we split it, with difficulty and gave half to our helpful neighbour and potted our half. It looks much happier already.

Just off to put dinner in the oven and take Eva out now the rain has stopped.
