Qwerty, I'm afraid I often find myself more or less making the bed before I get in it at night, but if I'm too tired I don't bother! You must have really needed that sleep. I hope OH is feeling a little better today - you must both have been exhausted.

Nana - our Eva misses OH when he's out. She often lies on our half landing where she can keep an eye on the front door. Poor things, you can't explain to them, can you!

It is cooler today, but at least it's more comfortable for those who don't like the heat.

Oma - I bet Storm will be happier with the cooler weather as well!

Libra - I bet T will be delighted with her jelly babies. Have your fur babies been ok with the warm weather? Eva doesn't seem to mind but looks for shade when she gets too hot.

Cooler here today which was lovely. Like a lot of you I can’t take the heat like I used to so the gentle breeze today was most welcome. Mind you we spent the afternoon at the hospital for DHs scan, all done now, just the waiting to hear. We have planned a day out tomorrow, a bit of retail therapy and lunch out and a visit to a garden centre. Heard today from DHs coursing in Australia who are coming over here next week so they will spend a day with us which will be nice, They have a canal boat so they come over every year for 3 months and travel the canals, sounds lovely, so peaceful.

Forgot to mention my friend who lost her OH in February went on a cruise today with her niece and great niece but shes getting over a chest infection and still taking antibiotics hope she will be ok she didn’t look well and has lost weight she said she weighed just under 7 stones, hope the trip makes her feel better

Daisy we have been draping a cold wet towel over Storm as he lies in the shade , he loves it keeps him cool ,
Doggy day care gave us the idea they do it with the dogs who don't like the heat or they put cold wet towels down for them to lie on

Qwerty we have on several occasions crawled into bed with no Duvet cover on or bottom sheet just the mattress cover when we have forgot bed needed making and couldn't be bothered to faff on late at night
like you we have lots of cushions B cant understand why we need them hahaha

Qwerty and Oma - I have to be honest and ask - why do you need the cushions? I have a couple of extra pillows with pretty covers on the big bed in the guest room because some people like different sorts of pillows and I try and make sure there's a choice, but our bed has just 4 pillows - 2 each - and I chuck one of them on the floor when I turn the light off as I only want a small thin pillow to sleep on. Oma - I once fell asleep on the bed while OH was trying to put clean bedding on!!

Qwerty - I do hope your friend is ok. Hopefully the abundant food on a cruise will help her put some weight back on.

Oma - we've got a self-cooling dog mat for Eva. As they lie on it it becomes cooler - obviously not much good if the dog is fixated on watching the neighbouring cats, but great if they will lie down. You can also get cooling t-shirts for dogs. I bet there are some humans who'd like them too!!!!

Enfys - I hope you don't have to wait too long for the results of OH's scan - waiting is horrible. What a lovely idea to have a canal boat on the other side of the world. I hope they have a lovely time and we have some decent weather for them.

A cooling mat would be ideal for Storm as he likes the shade,my nut case Shiloh lays in full sun,even though there are loads of shady areas. Tilly has more sense she slinks under the garden bench and snoozes.

Oma - they do work - provided the dogs lies on it for a few minutes to start the cooling process. I wouldn't let a chewing dog (like Cooper) lie on one without supervision as I think it must contain some kind of coolant gel. Last summer we had to get Eva used to it - she was a bit uncertain at first - I started off by putting a towel from her ordinary bed on it and then gradually folded it up. The mat is big enough for her to have her whole body on, but not head/legs/tail. The largest one seemed very expensive for a few extra inches. I think ours was about £40.

Libra - there's just no accounting for some dogs, although I think a cooling mat would still 'cool' in full sun, as it's the warmth from the dog's body that actives the cooling effect.

Oma, i won one of those cooling mats last year,and gave it to a family member.
They do work.

Hoping to get the curtains changed in the other 2 bedrooms today.

Sunny at the moment but not sure how warm/cool it is as I haven’t poked my nose out yet.

We are off to Silverscreen to see The Greatest Showman. It sounds like my kind of thing.Then a look round the shops and a cheque to put in the bank.
