What busy days we've all had!

We got to Sainsbury's just after 8 am today (what an ungodly hour to be shopping!) and it was quite quiet, but by the time we were leaving there was a queue of cars waiting to get into the car park, so the early start was worth it. I decided to do a gammon join for Wednesday (GD2's birthday) and a nice big piece of salmon which I've stuck in the freezer. I'll cook the gammon on Christmas Eve night and it will be ok for Wednesday. It still seems strange not catering for Christmas Day, though. I stood in front on the turkeys in the supermarket and stroked them!!! OH dragged me away before the men in white coats arrived.

We really pushed the boat out and got us both a new pair of pyjamas! OH's aren't even fit for dusters and mine are pretty shabby, so it was about tine. I also bought half a dozen water glasses from the reduced shelves. They're stackable which is a great bonus! I love living recklessly!!

Then we called in to see DS2 and DIL, and of course had to stay long enough to have a cuddle with Cooper. He's growing so quickly - I can hardly pick him up now. He gave me such a good welcome.

Then went home unpacked the shopping and had an early lunch. We both had a nana nap (although I suppose OH's was a grandad nap!) and took Eva for a good run in the paddock. I finished off the trifle to take to the wood turning clubs Christmas party tonight. Remind me to offer to do sausage rolls next time - driving over polholey roads with a trifle is no fun at all! We had a good evening and managed not to disgrace ourselves in the quiz, but now it's definitely bed time!

    Sleep well everyone.

I have bought zero Christmas food. I have eniugh stuff in the freezer until Sunday and then I will pop to supermarket maybe Boxing Day on the way home or day after in the morning. Have a Sainsbury delivery coming on 31st for the family day but I am doing a hot buffet with casseroles, jacket pots etc. So I can get it all done early and reheat on the day.

Today I am not supposed to be doing much but I expect I will end up doing loads as usual. I do have to go and sort my tyre pressures out as the in in board computer keeps beeping at me and telling me pressures are low, it is annoying.

Husband got home from hospital at 7.30pm yesterday. He got to the hospital on time but the place was rammed. Receptionist told him that a clinic was cancelled but people had turned up anyway and insisted on being seen so he was there from 4.15 and was the last but one person to be seen. He was not a happy bunny after 5 and half hours travelling and waiting for a ten minute appointment.

Nan2 he goes by bus from Heathrow to Kingston on Thames, walks to hospital so that is usually about 1 hour 40 minutes depending on time if day but yesterday there was a hold up on the roads and it took 2 hours 20 minutes. Then he waited for over an hour to be seen and then got on the bus to come home. Because of the excessive traffic it took longer to get back than usual. He won’t let me drive him. I made a one pot chicken and rice casserole so it could be served as soon as he came in and I had a nice whiskey and coke waiting for him to ease his frazzled nerves. What a wonderful wife I am!

Nanto - I always look forward to your 'good morning' graphics as well. they always brighten my start to the day.

Oma - you social butterfly you! But it's about time you are able to relax and enjoy Christmas without hospital appointments and stays. Have a wonderful time. xx I found it hard not to buy the usual Christmas food yesterday, but at least I had to get some goodies for GD2's birthday party on the 27th.

Zizi - your poor OH having to wait so long and experiencing all those travel complications. I think the south east and London in particular is grinding to a halt. It puts me off going to places, but when you have to you just have to grin and bear it. I'm sure the whiskey and coke did it's job when OH finally got home.

I've got a couple of last minute things to do today, then I can put my feet up and relax! I hope I'm not tempting fate saying that!

Oam you are certainly going to be busy over Christmas, you won’t know which way is up !

No going out for me today as the cleaning fairy seem to be having a bit of a huff so I am going to have to change the bed and wash the floor myself today .

For all thiose other MT members who are forced into having to do a spot of tidying up.... I feel your pain
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi - the Cleaning Fairy Strike has hit us as well. But if I dust I'll disturb the Christmas decorations, so I'll just run the sucky up thing round and do the ironing. Then that's it for this year!!!!

Good morning, very mild here today.

We are off to the hospital later for DH’s pre op assessment and exercise test. Things are happening at last. Otherwise all is ready for Christmas, very low key this year but that suits us at the moment.

                      Havr a a good day ladies 😀

                        Good morning everyone!

Oma, you and OH deserve that lovely socialising Christmas period, especially remembering how it was last year,
                        Poor OH, Zizi!
I too love Nan2's graphics - we miss them when she goes on holiday
Plant I hope you and the other Aqua Babes had a lovely lunch!
Mimi and Daisy, I may have to do a little of that cleaning today too.
Enfys, good to get that pre op assessment done with.

This morning I have a couple of cards to deliver. I have driven past the houses twice last week and forgotten to stop! Library for mum and pharmacy for prescriptions too while I am out,

Late afternoon DD2 and GD will pick me up. We are going to see the expensive Christmas lights display in a park in town. £16 each , they had better be worth it! OH and DD3 were also invited but say it is too expensive (scrooges) Then DDs 2 and 3, GD and myself are going to Ask for tea, then onto the pantomime at 8pm. I am very excited and so looking forward to it all

                        Enjoy your day ladies!

Our kids and grandkids all love em. Hubby will be asking me to make some more next week.
My granny used to make them when i was little. Hubby's mam used to make them, but she doesn't bake now.

DD is taking her MIL to Marlow for a hairdressers appointment this morning so I am going to tag along. I haven't got to get any food for Christmas dinner, I am going to DS and DIL's but I am making blinis for Christmas morning, bread sauce and supplying Christmas puddings and trifle. I managed to find long dated cream and creme fresh, just need some fresh fruit for my fruit bowl. Enjoyable lunch with Aqua Babes, it was nice to get to know them better, found one lady lives just around the corner from me and her children went to the school I worked in. small world.

                              Love your graphics too Nan2

Oma sounds as if your Christmas is going to be a whirl, enjoy yourselves.

Enfys, I hope the hospital visit goes to plan.

What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
