Sunny here atm, I imagine it is mild outside. I haven’t been out for days except to the bins. My two GGD’s will be next door today, I will pop in and see them later. My mother would say we need some sharp frosts to kill of the germs. Perhaps she was right.

Nanto, sad day for you and the family, hope all goes well.

Gemini, what a shame your friend couldn’t get a place at Aqua this week, our local pool classes are always fully booked and they are large classes. Shame you can’t book for a term so you know you have a place.

Glamm, you will be pleased to get the last eye injection done, hope all goes well for you. Those hanging basket sound good, I have seen them in the supermarkets and garden centres, I must get a bracket put up.

Oma, I hope you haven’t got a blocked sink, you are so good with old remedies for fixing problems. I go and buy a bottle of something in a plastic bottle
to clean my washing machine and you use Soda, the old remedies are the best and better for the environment. Right must remember to put soda on my shopping list.

I have booked a taxi for Monday morning, I have to be there for 7.30 am I am usually still in bed then. The hospital instructions are dressing gown needed and something to occupy the time you might be hanging around, no mention of food or drinks. I am only having a local anaesthetic so will be allowed food. My Dil has offered to pick me up, she is so thoughtful.

plant ,I try to use old ways where i can they prove to be useful ,

I use Soda crystals to clean the washer as its the same as Calgon but so much cheaper ,

I clean my drains with Bicarb and white vinegar
I also have a spray bottle with white Vinegar and a little washing up liquid in i use to clean all my tiles in the kitchen and bathroom , it cleans glass and my cooker hob
      Also good for chrome etc

Bicarb makes a good carpet fresh , I just sprinkle where the dogs been when he goes home , leave it a hour and hoover off ,

I don't buy many cleaning products except for Bleach , Dettol and toilet cleaner ,
Old products are better for health and the environment , so I am doing my bit in a small way

Hope you don't have to wait around too long on Monday , hopefully you will be down early and home quickly xx

        Hello again!

I must put some soda crystals in our washer Oma.

I hope this is your last eye injection Glamma. Well done on sorting that scheme out!

Plant good idea to book a taxi for Monday as it is early. Kind you your DIL to collect you. You will be glad when that is done with.

Nan2, if your weather is like mine which it often is, it has been a bright dry day for your FIL.

We had a good aqua session and stayed for coffee again. Our other friend was there, having got a cancellation! You can cancel up to the day before and get your money back so there may often be some who are not well, testing covid positive, or just get a better offer

It's a lovely sunny day, I feel we should be going to the coast!

Oma, I am ashamed of my cupboard where I keep my cleaning products. What do you clean your toilet pan and shower screen with. I have a stainless steel sink, apart from spray for that, what can I use? I do only use water and washing up liquid for my windows. Bi-carb only comes in small pots I think.

Plant, like Oma I am a great fan of white vinegar, we have a special cleaning vinegar and I use that in the toilet etc, no scale and sparkling clean. I love soda for the washing machine, I always add a handful to the whites. I am allergic to perfumes so use white vinegar as a fabric softener.

Many years ago I read to use castor oil to clean a leather suite, I have been doing it now for years, I put warm water in a bucket then add a little castor oil and it is really good for the leather and my hands at the same time.

A sore or infection, soak in warm water with soda, in fact, I have a book with tips on using soda. I have just had a look and I have one with vinegar tips as well, how sad am I????

I have been helping my friends daughter again, she was saying her mother is blaming her that she is in the home! She said she expected it but she gets nasty with her. In fact she is too good for where she is but not good enough to be on her own and there is no halfway house at the moment. I expected it as well, she was always out and about and now not allowed out, only with a visitor then at the moment there is a covid case so not allowed out at all.

I can understand your friend Lizzie getting upset where she is, I am 83 and certainly not ready to go into a nursing home, although this week I have struggled a bit. No housework done but I have managed to shower and feed myself painfully. My Sil’s mother was in a nursing home where some residents went out on their own. Shame there iksn’t a half-way house for her.

I will look for a book with uses of things like soda.

Plant, my friend is 78 years old and has alzeimers. Sad. You do right to try and do what you can, even if it is a struggle at times.xxx

Plant I buy my bicarbonate from Wilko it comes in a biggish box ,
I tend to use just washing up liquid and a plastic backed scrubber in my stainless steel sink , gets it nice and clean and shines it , a spray with vinegar to prevent lime scale ,
I do use Toilet duck on my toilets I must admit , my bathroom tiles I again use my vinegar spray , I don’t have a shower screen as it’s a wet room I have shower curtains that I hate but can’t have a screen so no other option .

lizzie I have always used Baby soap or soap flakes for leather sofas ,

What a shame about your friend , we have assisted sheltered accommodation here , everyone had their own little flat and come and go as they please but have staff on hand to help when needed,
Each day they call at least twice by intercom to check the residents are ok
that would be ideal for your friend .

My MIL is 88 this year and isn’t ready for a nursing home either , wouldn’t even dare suggest it 😱

Gem nice your other friend could get a place after all ,
make the most of the good weather we supposed to get snow by next week xx

Hope Nanto is ok and it’s over with xx

Oma, she is in the home as she has alzeimers, it is getting worse, we all kept an eye on her but it was worrying, the daughter was telling me her that her grandma had it and was blind as well. They have homes here but they won't have them in with alzeimers. She loved her home and that shows in all we discover! I will go and see her one day this week, tomorrow if it is nice and no one else goes.

We have "soft green soap" here, pure soap, soft, I use that a lot, I expect it would be the same as using baby soap. When I come home from the pool I always rinse my bathing suit out with it,

Oma we use Toilet Duck too,and pour some bleach down once in a while.
My auntie has an apartment like you describe. Auntie needs no assistance, but they check each day, and the help is in place if ever she does need it in future.
Sad for your friend Lizzie and for her DD. It's hard enough to have your parent to have to go somewhere, without them blaming you. My DDs feared my mum would blame me, but she never has.

I forgot to mention, the last few years the friend has been going to day care three times a week, there are a few locally and the one she went to was a “growers” day care, she loved it there.

Thank you for your kind thoughts this morning.
Everything went well. A few smiles,a few laughs and a lot of tears.
Sadly the sun didn't shine for shine for dad,and it was bitterly cold.
I feel a bit flat at the moment,if you know what i mean, but as hubby says from tomorrow we get on with the rest of our lives.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Nanto - I'm glad the day went well, and it sounds as though your FIL was a well-loved man.

I expect you're worn out after the last few weeks of physical and emotional upset. Be kind to yourself. I hope you sleep well tonight, and as Gem so wisely says tomorrow is a new day. Can you and your OH plan to do something nice together, even if it's just going out for a coffee and a cake. Sending hugs. xxx

Nanto ,glad that the day went well. Tomorrow is the beginning of a new chapter in your life. Sending love xx

I got a surprise cheque from the tax man the other day. Seems OH was due a rebate! Today I got a letter telling me a cheque would be with me within the next 14 days! I do wish they'd get the letters sent out in the right order. So that has been earmarked for something for the new house, possible a nice tree/shrub for the garden to remember him by.

Had a letter from hospital giving me an appointment for a check up which should have been done 3 years ago. I then got another one with a different date, same procedure , different department. Phoned the number, Oh yes she said, the 11th and 28th have been cancelled. Your new appointment is 31st March. I knew nothing about the 28th! I queried why I hadn't received a letter cancelling the appointments and she had no answer to that. I suggested that it might be helpful if an appointment was cancellation letter should be sent other wise people might turn up and find that they weren't on the list for that day's schedule. Oh, said she, do you want me to send you a cancellation letter now? I just hope, the appointments have been cancelled or I'll go down as a 'No show'.

I have had one of those bleugh days and really feel I should go to bed, but don't feel ready to sleep yet! I'm in the middle of a book so I might just lie down and get on with that.

Night night everyone, sleep tight! xx
