Luckily the man saw the crack Gem, I can just picture all the Christmas food landing on the floor!!!
I have started the cupboard, took everything out this morning before going to the pool, on my way home I got some undercoat and I have just got that done, not much painting to do really, I want to paper the walls, so, all being well, my house will be back to normal by the end of the week, a lot of people, like most, have their coats etc hung in there, very handy but I wouldn't know what to do with everything else.
I went to DIY place in the next village, there is a huge German one near pool but very busy, this one is busy, they have different shops upstairs with furniture etc etc, the staff are so friendly, the young man was yesterday and the one today couldn't have been more helpful.
On the roundabout entering the street I saw a young school boy get knocked off his bike, luckily he was fine and his bike was not damaged. Cycles have right of way on the roundabouts in built up area's and both for the cyclists and cars etc it is a question of keeping your eyes open. Apparently this lady didn't. I don't like driving in the dark near the roundabouts, especially when it is raining, some don't have lights on their bikes but expect you to see them.
Afternoon ladies! I've been on Granny duty this weekend. DD and SiL always go away for her birthday weekend. They were hoping to go to Budapest, but decided against it, so they went to Bath instead! I watched GS's football match on Saturday morning ( forgot how cold you get standing on the sidelines), got my hair cut in the afternoon and generally didn't do much else! Blinking doggo, had me up twice in the night wanting out. Then he stands in the middle of the lawn staring at nothing in particular! &.30 this morning and about the same this morning even though DD had gone past him on the landing, he still came and woke me up to let him out!
DD was back on Sunday and she and I went and dropped off a couple of presents and then we had a wander along Amersham Old Town High Street, which was very pleasant. had alook in few shops, bought some bits and pieces and had a lovely coffee and cake in a little cafe staffed by some very nice young men! I'd walked along the High street on Saturday while waiting for the football to start , but none of the shops opened until 10, so it was nice to go back when they were open.
Went to the butchers this morning and came home this afternoon to more paper work, sadly nothing I can deal with until I get a Certificate of Probate, which the solicitor said can take up to 6 months. Luckily than bank account is in joint names, so I can still pay the bills!
The funeral is not until the 23rd. It was the earliest we could get. The Celebrant is coming for a chat tomorrow, so I have to get organised with events etc. DD and OH's best friend are both saying something, but DS isn't too sure, so I'm not pushing him. We've managed to get refreshments sorted in the local pub afterwards.
Hope everyone has a good evening xx
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

WeeGranny - I've always been grateful that none of my children or grandchildren have had the slightest inclination to play any sport which entail adults standing freezing on the touchline! You were very brave, but I'm sure GS was pleased you watched. Did they win? Doggo must have been pleased to have your company. Eva does that - just stares at nothing, but if you look carefully you can see her nostrils twitching. I'd love to know what they can smell! The little cafe sounds lovely. It's dreadful that Probate can take so long - it gets worse. I do hope you can get everything organised with the Celebrant - have you decided on music etc?
Lizzie - I always imagine your roads to be safe, not too crowded and bikes on separate pathways from motor vehicles. Thank goodness the boy was ok, but it must have scared him. Your DIY shop in the next village sounds great - and I think you're amazing, always making, decorating, fixing things. You're very talented.
Gem - doesn't that seem par for the course with anything major being delivered. Thank goodness the crack was spotted and they have another table top in stock. I hope you had a nice time with your aunt.
My shoulder and arm are back to square one! I've been baking all day so I can get everything in the freezer ready for Christmas, and I was ok until I tried to grease the tins for mincepies. The circular movement really hurt. I've just had a rest and put an ice pack on my arm, and that's eased it a bit.
I made 3 dozen mincepies, 2 dozen jam tarts, a gluten-free chocolate cake and another batch of pastry for a couple of flan cases. I've no enthusiasm for going to cook dinner! The meat dishes will have to wait till tomorrow as well.
Plant - yes, my family all congregate in the kitchen as well, and there's always someone leaning against the cupboard I need to open! I try and get them to sit at the table in there, but they never do! You've been waiting a while for that dermatologist appointment, haven't you. Perhaps it's worth going private, you don't want it getting any worse.
"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
My GS developed a nasty rash on his face and chest last month. DD has private medical insurance through work and the managed to get him an appointment, but it was only because someone had cancelled and the dermatologist had no more appointments before the endo of the year. Luckily they gave him something, tablets and cream......and moisturiser, which he offered to me at the weekend and it has cleared up well. Not gone yet but certainly a lot better than it was.
Can't sleep, don't know why, so am on here rather than lying tossing and turning.
I think I'm doing well if I get one cake baked never mind all the things you've been doing Daisy! DD was attempting macarons this morning, but her meringue wasn't stiff enough....they tasted great though!
GS thinks I'm 'legend' because I bought him a Samosa from the butcher and left the remains of a box of chockie biscuits!
Daisy....I didn't bother going out to check if doggo's nose was twitching, just shouted ( quietly) at him from the conservatory door! Then he bounds in looking very pleased with himself wondering where his treat is!
Let's go and see if I can get some sleep now. See you in the morning xx
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

WG, These are strange days for you, its no wonder you can't sleep at times. I hope you got there in the end xx
I must get some pastry made Daisy, well preferably actual mince pies too! I'm sorry your shoulder and arm are worse again
I find cyclists very scary in the dark Lizzie/ Many don't seem to have lights. I like the sensible cyclists who wear reflective strips on clothes or rucksacks.
Re the dining table saga, what I forgot to mention was that the covers on the seat pads were wrong! In fact I prefer these ones as they are a darker mushroom/beige shade. The original cream covers were really not practical with small GC eating in there regularly. So, they didn't have to go back!
Other news OH has sold the old set. Its big, solid and has 6 chairs two of them carvers. A bargain at £50. Fingers crossed the guy comes this afternoon and can get them all in his car as he thinks he can!
This morning I am going to Sainsbury's for some shopping. GS1 from school this afternoon. In between, I will be present wrapping!
The lady came for my Mobitest GPS device yesterday and the completed questionnaire. She gave me my £20 shopping voucher. It was an easy way to earn £20 to be honest.
Keep warm and well ladies.

Gem a stroke of luck you liked the seat pad colour , it was meant to be
Not bad £20 for a survey well done , Fingers crossed the man gets it all in one go or he may have to do two trips ,
Trouble is we think we can fit in more than we actually can
Lizzie scary driving at night and having to watch for cyclists , its not so bad when they wear high viz stripes and have enough lights but some just don't bother and wear dark clothing too .
Daisy how's the arm ? Are you cooking to feed a small army
WG Macaroons are not as easy to make as they look are they ,
Did you get any sleep ? you must have so much going around your head at the moment xx
Nanto hope your enjoying your new flooring , is it laying flat this time xx
Plant enjoy Trefoil today will you be having nibbles and drinks as its Christmas
Popping over to M&S foods this morning then into The range , so handy having them all on our doorstep
WeeGranny, I do hope you got back to sleep in the end. As Oma says there must be so much going on in your head and sometimes it's hard to find the peace to get to sleep. I wonder what caused your GS's rash, but I'm glad it's cleared up. Skin problems can be hard to cure. It's great to be a legend Gran! I think dogs think going in the garden and then coming back in is what is required of them - they don't realise they are supposed to be toileting! So, of course they expect a treat.
Gem - fingers crossed your dining room will be all done and sorted today, and the buyer of the old set had got a very big car. Cream cushion pads aren't great with small children, so the ones you've got will probably wear better. Can you removed them to wash them, or can you sponge them in situ? Enjoy spending your shopping voucher - it sounds like a bargain for no work. A nice treat.
Nanto - thank you for the cute graphic. I hope your dad is ok this morning. I was wondering if you are still pleased with your new kitchen flooring as well.
Yes, I am cooking to feed a small army this year! Ten to twelve of us for Christmas dinner, plus DS1, DIL and GSs staying Christmas Eve until Boxing Day morning. Two teenage boys can clear a fridge full of food in minutes, to say nothing of the biscuit tin and fruit bowl! GD1 keeps up with them, too! Plus we may have some friends and neighbours popping in for a drink on Christmas morning. We're going to take Eva and Cooper for a run in the paddock this morning, then I'll start again on the cooking. I don't mind if I can get most of it done in advance.
I'd better get a move on.
"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "
Good morning, I have done the painting in the cupboard and hope to get it papered tomorrow, it isn't much work really, the most work was emptying it!
I have just received a message that my new rug is on the way.
Gem, yes a darker coloured sitting may be handier when the children visit. OH did well selling the other one, I do hope that the man turns up and that is fits in his car.
Daisy, we do have cycle paths, if they go through a village etc they are usually just a part of the road, in fact, the one running through our village I don't like at all, it is a narrow road then when the lorries have to pass I hold my breath! Roundabouts are a different rule, most roundabouts cyclists can travel both ways, so, when you are driving you have to have eyes to see them from both sides, it is OK during the daytime but in the dark it is difficult to see the cyclists, I won't start about Delft, the students there have their own rules!!!! Then traffic approaching from the right have the right of way, that applies to all road users but hardly anyone recognises that for cyclists, I always make sure they are going to stop before I carry on.
Lizzie, I have only been to Holland once and found all the cyclists very confusing with their right of way. You are a Wonder Woman, no job is too difficult for you it seems.
Nanto, love the graphic. I hope you find your Fil in good spirits, he has done well since he lost his wife.
Well done Gemini earning that £20, where scan I apply? Do I have to buy something first. Fingers crossed the man buying the dining set arrives and manages to take it away. That was good luck with the chair pads colour, much more suitable.
Daisy, thank you for your card. You certainly have given yourself a job entertaining all those people.
Had a call from my doctor this morning about my Psoriasis, that is now what the experts think it is. I have a small very painful lump on the back of my hand which started as part of the rash, this has to be removed asap, they think it is cancerous. I have to pick up yet more cream and instructions to use it tomorrow from the surgery. I am very pleased with my new doctor, she is lovely and very on the ball.
WG, The arrangements for the funeral and dealing with Probate etc must be keeping you awake. Are the samosas good from the butchers and the meat. I love his scotch eggs. Amersham old town is a lovely place to stroll around, the clothes shops enticing and the little cafes. I stopped off there the other day to kill some time. We shall be bumping into each other.
My intentions of getting up early have gone to pot.
What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
Plant, yes, the cyclist rules can be very confusing at times. Thanks for the "Wonder Woman" but I just enjoy doing the things I do , luckily I can still do it as well, I called at a neighbours and he had some lovely floor covering left from doing their kitchen so he gave me enough to do the bottom of the cupboard . Luckily you have a good doctor, is the cream for the
cancerous rash? My sister used to have to use that, my swim friend had to use it on his face as well.
Plant, I earned the voucher by carrying a little GPS device everywhere I went for two weeks and answering a questionnaire. Easy work for £20, just a matter of remembering to take the device with you at all times. I hope that lump is easily got rid of.
Replacement dining table arrived, all good this time. I will take a photo later. The man is coming for the old one late afternoon. OH will be back from her Christmas golf game and drinks by then.
No school run for me today. GS1 is off school with a cold and cough. DD is sure it is just a cold, hes not poorly, but quite rightly school don't want coughing children in school in current times. Lateral flows negative and he went for a PCR test this morning. He's none too happy at missing the last week of term. I hope it comes back negative and by tomorrow.
SIL2 has felt poorly since his booster on Saturday. He has gone for a PCR as he has lost his sense of smell too. Fingers crossed that comes back negative. If not, taking my mum to their house on Thursday is of course off the agenda.
Now I don't have to go out to collect GS, I will spend the afternoon present wrapping.
