Ladies - you can't keep me away entirely! This is just a very quick 'hello' - and I can't resist saying to Gem - believe me if I could have ordered a home delivery of dried crusts last night I would have done so - we are too far away from anywhere to get take aways delivered!

We've have a lovely day today, but utterly exhausted. I'll write about it tomorrow and hopefully have chance to read all your posts slowly with a relaxing cup of coffee! I don't know what time our guests are going, but I expect it will be before lunch as they have a 5 hour or so drive.

Packing almost done, I expect Sil will want to pack the car this evening and have an early start tomorrow. Not sure which car I am going in, Sil\’s or DD’s being driven by GS2. Both of those cars are continuing on for another weeks holiday so GD2 and partner are going back to London by train and I am coming back with DS and Dil, who happen to be down there just a few miles away. So that’s me taken care of. All we need is sunshine. I have a doctors appt. (get me) at 11.40 for him to take a look at my bloodshot eye.

Do you ladies clean your house before you go away or leave it until after you get back? I shall take off any flowers that a blooming as I hate to come back to dead flowers. I need just a little rain here in Bucks to water the pots.

Oma, sorry to hear GS is feeling poorly with the virus, hope he feels better soon. Is he enjoying the football, shame he can’t watch it with the family.

Nanto, I wonder what is your favourite meal you cook?

Daisy, I am sure it has been lovely having visitors but it is tiring.

          Good morning everyone.

Good to see you Daisy, I bet it has been a tiring week! I think I don't appreciate how lucky we are having several takeways who deliver to us!
We had scampi a couple of days ago Nan2. It is a popular choice in our house.
Oma, I hope your GS is feeling a bit better today.
Plant we have a cat sitter staying when we go away so we leave it all lovely clean and tidy for her. If we were leaving an empty house I think I wouldn't do anything specific, apart from remove any flowers which may die as you say. We do like the bed to be freshly changed the day before or so, as it is nice to come back to a bed that won't need changing anytime soon. Have a lovely holiday!

Well, finishing my book (an actual one, from the library) in the garden won over any drawer sorting yesterday afternoon. There will be plenty of dull or wet days for that job! I was still there when OH got back from golf. We were chatting, then two friends called in and joined us for a cuppa. We were out chatting to them until 7 pm!

We are having GD and GS2 overnight tomorrow, their mum's birthday. So, we are not having them after school today. Just visiting mum on my agenda. It's a while since I visited alone, there has always been OH or one of the DDs with me since it was allowed.

          Have good Friday ladies.

Good morning, warm at the moment, I am running slow!! I was up and about at 6am and it took me to 9am to get dressed, which isn't a good thing for me.

I got a call yesterday afternoon from GD1 "nan, can you come for us, we have done all we want to do, it is warm and we are sick after being on the rides", I didn't mind as it meant I would be home before the traffic, that is what I thought anyway. I had planned a way to pick them up where I dropped them off, never realising I wouldn't be the only one picking someone up!! Luckily it was all arranged very good and we could use the car park free of charge to let them get in the car. Then I had to find them, that is when a phone comes in handy. The friend was very quiet and pale, after 10 minutes she asked me, very politely, if I could stop as she had to get out to be sick. GD1, said " oh again", she got out then I told her to get in the front with me and put the air co high, I told her I couldn't stop once we got on the motorway but luckily I had a plastic bag and cloths with me, she was sick all the way home but not bringing much up so we got home ok. Some of their class went on public transport, 90 minutes, I told the girl it is a good thing they didn't do that with being so sick.

Another item, I don't know if you pay deposit on plastic bottles in the UK? We do here and have done for years, now they are charging deposit on the small bottles, Spa water etc, I hope people realise it is better to return them. I was at the Lidl one day and an English speaking man bought 6 bottles of lemonade, he though he had the cash in his hand, he didn't know he had to pay deposit and the girl at the desk wasn't helpful to him so I explained why he had to pay the extra.

Daisy you will need a week off when your visitors go home

We went for fresh bread this morning and then to the DIY store , apart from that I haven't anything to do today

Have a good day ladies xxx

Lizzie our posts crossed , Poor Girl she must have been so glad to get home , I suffer travel sickness so can sympathise .
We don't pay a deposit on plastic bottles but we should ,
In Germany in their Aldi you take the bottles back and put them in a machine that print
s a ticket for either money off your next shop or cash at the till ,
B's aunt saves all the money off coupons for either Christmas or if they have anything during the year she wants to buy ,
Its amazing how those few pence add up

Oma, I always clean, I had a neighbour years ago, she asked why I cleaned before I went away. I always have done, then it is nice and clean when I get back!

That poor girl Lizzie. I hope its nothing infectious and you and GD don't go down with it.
We don't pay any deposit on plastic bottles here. We are encouraged to recycle them (and use less plastic generally) but no refundable deposit.

                  Tooth improving Oma, thanks.

Oma, that is the same as have here, put them in a hole in the wall and it prints the voucher out, one supermarket here in the village have a collection box next to the printer and you can put the vouchers in for which ever charity they have that month.

Lizzie I wonder if they now have the charity box in Germany? I will have to ask his aunt next time we speak , its a great idea , I bet they collect a fair amount

It is a good idea Oma, I see they do it for local football clubs etc. In fact at the Lidl you can "donate" to a good cause instead of getting the voucher printed. I think it is to save the bee's at the moment.

Good Morning Everyone, its been a few days since last posting as the eyes are really suffering with the blurredness I have however received the appointment to go and have the treatment, next Monday at 1pm so hopefully I shall have my sight restored so I can see clearly once again.

Hello everyone. It's a lovely sunny day here, and I aim to get out in the garden later.

Glamm - thank goodness you haven't got to wait too long for your appointment - it must be so frustrating not being able to see clearly. xx

Lizzie - the deposit on plastic bottle has been talked about here, I think, but nothing seems to have happened yet. It's such a good idea. Poor girl, being travel sick (even if the 'travel' was on rollercoasters). It's a good job you were able to give her a lift home and supply the necessaries. I'm travel sick as well - it's a really horrible feeling.

Gem - I'm glad to hear your tooth is improving. Hopefully that's the end of your dental horrors for a long, long time. I'm sure you're looking forward to the GSs' sleepover. Is their mum going out to celebrate her birthday? I would have saved the cupboard sorting until another day, as well.

Plant - I like to leave the house clean and tidy, with clean bedding before we go away, even if it's only overnight. OH thinks I'm mad, but when DS1 was taken ill last August we just packed a few clothes and went up to their house and ended up staying about 2 weeks. Neighbours had been in and out of the house for various reasons, and we hadn't even made our bed or put the rubbish out. I do hope the doctor reassures you about your eye. How lovely to be finally having a holiday. I do hope the weather is good for you. xx

Nanto - I don't know which I like best - scampi or home-made "proper" chips! I've just take a bowl of chilli out of the freezer to have tonight to save cooking. Sainsbury's isn't due till 6.30, so I can just put everything away and relax!

Our visitors are on their way home - I hope the traffic's not too bad, but at least it's dry and sunny here. It poured with rain when they drove down last Saturday.

Lizzie, those rides seem to have upset GD badly.

I always make sure housework is done before we go away.
Like B,hubby always says its all dine for the burglars.

Plant, hope you have good weather while you are on holiday.
You asked my favourite meal to cook, any that is easy.

Gem, pleased there is some improvement from the pain.
