Ladies if I was bursting for the loo I wouldn't rely on the lift , by time it got me up the stairs I would have peed myself
Oma your comment about not being able to rely on the star lift in times of urgency reminds me of my beautiful dear friend who passed away several years ago .
She had a stair lift and she had an urgent call for the loo and as the stair lift climbed incredibly slow up the stairs myself and her carer could hear her urging the lift to go faster and for some reason it became very funny to us .
She could hear our laughter and this resulted in her urging the thing louder which in turn reduced us to more laughter .
She could see the funny side even though she cussed up one side and down the other.
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

I keep thinking of that scene from Gremlins where they speeder up that old ladies stair lift and she shoots off the end 😱😁😁😁
When my FIL was alive and he used his we would stand at bottom of stairs and pretend he was in a horse race and do the sound track to the lone ranger . Won't tell you what he would call us but the second word was off

Ha. You do make me laugh Oma ... don't hold back now. Say it as it is!🀣🀣🀣🀣 Sometimes I think there's no truer saying than 'If you don't laugh you cry.'

Just had a chat with DD she said things are so bad at work they are having to do 12 hour shifts from Monday . 2 days on 2 days off
Staff and clients are going down like flies with it . Thankfully the staff that have it it's only mild but it terrifies me I wish She didn't have to go to work but she does and wouldn't stay off unless she had no choice .

That is worrying for you Oma. I am sure she will take care but sounds very tiring. I hope B finds the stairlift helpful.

Oma - God, you must be so worried for your DD, but you also know how sensible she is, and she won't take risks with her health, and also with your SIL's and J's. I hope the staff and clients who are ill make a speedy recovery.

It's good to have a giggle, and the stair lift adventures are great. My OH was telling someone the other day about a friend who's got a really high speed stair lift - it's so he won't forget what he was going upstairs for before he gets there!!! (OH should have been a stand-up comic! He can say the most outrageous things with a straight face. )

When I clap for Carers at 8 pm tonight I shall be thinking of Oma's DD, all those other adult children, their OHs and our GCs who are working through this nightmare to look after us, and for those who cared for Gerald at the end, because Clover wasn't allowed to be there.

I know what you mean Oma. My DD2 who manages a team, (she works with mentally ill children & their families) says she thinks the worst is yet to come. We're really proud of them eh? I thanked the dr & workers over the fone this week & shouted thanks to the postman. They're all wonderful.

Well the noise in our cul-de-sac and estate tonight made me feel very proud . People clapping banging pans blowing horns police car at end of road with his sirens on and even a few fireworks . All supporting our wonderful workers . It was quite emotional ,We waved to our neighbours we haven't been able to see or speak to everyone smiling makes your heart swell .

I'm at my mum's and I went out to clap and there were lots of people out. OH did at our house and it was the same .

Mum was sick just after I got here at lunchtime. I had to get OH over to help me change mum's PJ's and sheets. She has been sick 2 or 3 times more. I had a long talk to doctor on the phone. As she's not weed since yesterday he's concerned and would quite like her to go into hospital to be hydrated . He spoke to her and she said unless it gets really bad she wants to stay here. I went
home to get some stuff while OH stayed with mum. I,'m staying here tonight. We have a place for mum in a nursing home on Saturday. Fingers crossed I can manage until then.

Gem - I'm glad you managed to join in with the clapping tonight. Your spirits need a bit of a boost, I'm sure.

I wonder what's causing your mum to be sick if she's not eating much. It's difficult to keep her hydrated unless she co-operates with drinking enough. Will she drink tonic water - that plus a banana might help without seeming medicinal. I'm so glad you've managed to find a nursing home place for her, and I hope the doctor doesn't need to admit her to hospital. Perhaps that might be an encouragement to drink. Is it possible she's holding her wee because she can't get out of bed, or has a UTI? Sorry, I'm not trying to worry you, just thinking of possible causes.

I hope you get some sleep tonight, but at least you will be on hand if she needs any help. Sending hugs and love. xxx

Gem will this home be permanent or just respite ? Either way it will be for the best .

                              Permanent Oma.
I will write about it more tomorrow.
Thank you so much for my anniversary wishes and lovely eCard. It's actually on 14th though

Mum was sick again and I was on the verge of dialling 999, but decided to wait hoping that was the last time. That was an hour or so ago. She has no tummy pain thank goodness.
We had some nice chats about Boris being on the mend, royal family, lockdown and other things. Whether these are mum's final days, or just the last time I see her for a while due to current care home visiting restrictions, it's important to me to spend time with her.

What a sad situation for you Gemini, not knowing what is best for your dear mother. If she has a Uti infection that might make her sick. At least she will be happy going into a care home.
