OH had an opticians appointment this first thing this morning. Incredibly, they were already running late, so he had to wait a while. I took the opportunity to nip out and do a bit of shopping. I got two light-weight fleece jumpers from Mountain Warehouse for £25. I've bought these before and am still wearing them about 6 years on!

We didn't realise it was the annual Santa Dash in aid of the local hospice this morning, and wondered why the high street was closed! There were hundreds of participants but it was far too cold to stand and watch - the wind was coming straight off the sea and up the high street. Then is started to rain a bit on the way home - just when the run would have been starting.

We were both glad of a coffee when we got home, and put the heating on as well. I need to take Eva out very soon, and I'm going to end up looking like the Michelin man with all the layers I'll need.

      Good early evening.

Gem, i'm going to be honest and say feeding picky eaters like your lunch guests would drive me nuts.

Oma, hope B feels better soon.

I'm glad the wind has calmed down, its the annual santa run today, starting at 5.
It would have been too dangerous to do it if the winds were still strong.
We will be outside later cheering them on. Our street is one of the first streets they ride down.

Lizzie, how tragic about the fire bomb. Absolutely devastating.

I have ordered a new phone today,it will be delivered on Tuesday between 7am and 2 pm.

It's not that easy to feed them Nan2, but they are good friends. We only meet every few weeks and take turns to host so it's not that often!

Poor B Oma. I hope he feels better soon.

Good to hear from you Enfys and to know you made a good recovery after the fall.

What a pity you missed the birthday visit Plant.

Daisy I hope you and Eva are back inside warm and dry now.

Lizzie I heard about the fire bomb on the news. Tragic

We had a nice lunch and catch up with our friends. The kittens were very entertaining and J took lots of photos of them.

          It's still bad weather here,
GS rang he's driving home for the Christmas now,
I hate that he's driving in this, he phoned to see if he could come for lunch tomorrow as it will be too late tonight to call in, by the time he gets home and unpacked, that boy can't go a week without either talking to us or seeing us😁

          Daisy
we have just had Mountain warehouse open on our retail park in the old M&S space.
B is pleased as we usually have to go to Dalton park out of town retail park.
What was J at opticians for , was it his glasses or hearing aids?

          Plant
So pleased to hear that your GD and partner are at last moving into their new home.
I can understand why your DIL didn't want you driving in this weather

          Hows H's slapped face ?

          Nanto
I hope it's dry and calm for the parade, did you get the tree lights out?

          Gem
How did the meal go ?

Oma, OH went for an eye test today. He went for a hearing check on Thursday! So, new hearing aids and new glasses for driving and tv. He'll be like the bionic man, won't he!

I don't buy a lot from Mountain Warehouse, but I've got a lovely fleece lined jacket which I wear a lot and these lightweight fleeces which I love! I think our nearest branch, in Lymington is relatively small but seems well-stocked.

I hope your GS had a good journey home despite the weather. You can't help worrying about these young lads in cars, especially in bad weather, although I do think your Josh sounds very sensible and not a speed-merchant.

              Good morning.

Oma, we got the lights on the tree a few days ago.
He wants to change the setting today, he thinks they are flashing on and off too quickly.
I just let him get on with it.
              Hope B feels better soon.

Going to change the bedding and clean upstairs this morning.

Plant, hope the move for GD goes smoothly on Saturday.

Daisy, you'll think you've got a new man when OH gets his new hearing aids and new glasses.

Dinner is mash , chicken goujons, veg and gravy.

                Good morning everyone.

I don't know when we will get our outside lights up Nan2. We haven't got anything down from the loft yet, I leave the outside lights to OH but I would like them up really as we are delaying putting up our tree due to kittens

Bionic OH Daisy He will match WG and me with our bionic hip and knee!

Oma, I can remember how exciting it was about this time of year in DD1's uni days. Knowing she would be coming home from Edinburgh for long Christmas break.
I hope B feels better soon.

Aqua morning and hopefully coffee. I hope we may get the Christmas things down from the loft this afternoon.

                Have a good week everyone.

                  Morning ladies
                  Not a bad morning,

B still unwell and with snotty eyes , he looks sooo attractive 🤣🤣🤣

GS has requested hot beef sandwiches for lunch,
As luck would have it B cooked a large beef joint last week and thinly sliced most of it ,
I then vacuum bagged it into smaller portions,

                  Gem
I would love to see the kittens reaction to the tree , I bet it's not long before they are in it.
Buzz although he is 14 now still climbs in DDs , Tallulah tends to sit at the bottom hitting the baubles 😁

                  Nanto
Our light were the same flashing too quick,
B changed them to a twinkle , mostly because if I catch them flashing I feel sick and faint , I'm the same with strobe lighting.
                  Dinner sounds nice

                  Daisy
J will be amazed what he can see and hear now, you will have to be careful when your cursing him under your breath he will hear you 😂😂.

Dentist this morning so I will report back later. I hope I don’t encounter any trees down on the way.

Good Monday morning everyone. It's a bit showery but otherwise calm here.

Nanto, I'm on the same treadmill - washing bedding, cleaning the bedroom.

Oma, poor B. I hope he's soon feeling better. I don't like strobe lighting either.

Plant, fingers crossed for no trees down, and no treatment needed at the dentists.

Gem, I'm sure the kittens will adore the Christmas tree. What fun it will be for them.

OH already has his new hearing aids, but yesterday said he couldn't hear the tv with them. I suggested he checked the batteries just in case they were duds, and he realised he hadn't fully closed the battery compartment on his left ear! No wonder he was having problems. His new glasses won't be ready until a couple of days before Christmas.

I think we're all getting younger with our bionic bits!

We've been invited round to our 'other' neighbour for drinks tonight (she's not exactly next door - sort of round the corner and the back of her house is the side of ours). She's relatively new so it will be lovely to have some social time with her. I'll cook dinner for midday and just have a snack before we go out.

Must get on with some of the jobs that are piling up.

I hope everyone is feeling a bit better this morning. xx

Daisy, hope you got your bedding done. I was going to hang ours on the line, but changed my mind.
A nice bit of socialising for you later.

Plant, how did you go on at the dentist.

Good afternoon all. Very cold here today. I went out this morning with a friend to the local garden centre, had coffee and a mooch and a nice chat. Was glad to get back home though, lots of road works going on round here, with temporary lights and diversions so that was a nuisance. There seemed to be lots of equipment and signs up but no men working so goodness when it will be finished.

Hope your dentist appointment went well Plant and enjoy your visit to your neighbour Daisy.

i hve just done my shopping list for the online shopping the DD does , we still do it all online and I don’t think I could go back to doing it all in the shop. I still pop in for odd bits but al always glad I don’t have to do a big shop any more. Now I am cosy under my heated throw with a cup of hot lemon and honey.

                          Have a good evening everyone.

Nanto, yes I got the bedding done ok, but still haven't cleaned the bedroom. At least I hoovered round downstairs and made my first batch of mincepies for this year.

Enfys, I agree - I couldn't go back to doing all my shopping 'live'! Roadworks seem to be everywhere, but no actual workmen. Enjoy your nice cosy evening.

Off out in a bit, but hopefully not too late getting home. I've an early start tomorrow with the dentist at 9 am, then we're going to visit BIL who is in a nursing home, and not very well.

Enfys, dentist visit went well and not expensive. I am finding doing a shop very tiring and do an online one occasionally.
After the dentist I did a shop in Waitrose, very tired now. I am blini maker for Christmas Day and overnight salad for Boxing Day so bought some of the ingredients for those. I can make the blinis and freeze them. Tomorrow I have the hairdresser in the morning and my Ex. Guiders social in the afternoon so had to buy things for that too. Cards were falling out of the postbox so took them into the shop, they had a sack there and I was also able to buy book tokens there too. I have just ordered my last present, I had 20 in all. Poor now!

Oma, I hope you are feeling stronger and B makes a swift recovery, poor man.

Daisy, I hope your OH gets on fine with his hearing aids, I have lost one of my new ones, managing with the old ones atm

Nanto, My dentist is up but under cover steps to climb, my old legs don’t like them. Nothing done, just a clean so got away cheaply.

Gemini, I hope Aqua and coffee went well. I should like to be a fly on the wall to see those kittens reaction to the Christmas tree going up.

I have something from the freezer for my meal this evening can’t quite make out what it is, probably chicken. I can hear you saying “don’t you label things?” I can usually recognise things.

I think we all do less in person shopping these days it seems. We have an online delivery every 2 to 3 weeks and shop in person in between.

I hope you have a nice evening with your neighbours Daisy.

Plant it must be a busy day for card posting! Exactly the same thing happened to my OH when she went to post our cards this morning. A sign on the postbox instructing you to go into the post office and put them into a box.
Was it chicken from the freezer?!

All four of us were at aqua this morning and stayed for coffee. The first time in ages.
OH and I got all the Christmas stuff down from the loft this afternoon .
