It's been a busy day, so I'm later catching up than I expected.

Nanto, it's a nice feeling when you get everything done that you wanted to.

Oma, your MIL is in a class of her own when it comes to some of the things she says. For all that, I understand that you and B worry about her, and there may come a point when she has no choice but to move into a care home. It's very difficult, isn't it. I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight after all the stress of last night.

Gem, I hope you enjoyed your long, chatty lunch with your old school friends. It's good for both of you to get out and put things to the back of your mind for a while. I hope S felt the same about helping out at the golf club today. Is the library busier in the school holidays?

We've had a day of sun, cloud and showers, with a longer heavier downpour at tea time. But I took Eva out about 8.30 and it was quite warm, I'd put a jacket on as I thought it might be chilly, but I was too hot. It's the annual New Forest Show this week. The show ground is at the edge of our village, and over the 3 days 85,000 people are expected to descend on us. I have to go to collect new prescription sunglasses and some medication for Eva tomorrow. Goodness how long it will take as the roads are usually gridlocked.

Good morning. Very cloudy just now.

I think today will just be another run of the mill kind of day.
          Nothing exciting happening for us.

Easy dinner today, chips, fish fingers and peas.

            Good morning everyone.

What a beautiful white peacock Nan2.
I have story a (true life) story about white peacocks which I will write about at some point.

Gosh it's going to get busy around your way Daisy, or busier! I hope your journey doesn't take too long. Living in a tourist town I sympathise.

The children's library gets busier in the holidays. With school aged children and families, and because the Summer Reading Challenge is running which is always popular.
Yesterday I brought home from the children's library the five little beanbag seats which were new when the library reopened. They are disgustingly filthy now and can only be surface washed! I discussed it with the librarians and they agreed there was nothing to lose by me washing them, as they are not fit to be used now anyway. I gave them 20 minute cool wash yesterday, with some stain remover and they seem fine I have GSs 2 and 3 tomorrow so we will drop them back to the library then.

Aqua this morning. I also need to go to Boots opticians at some point as the arm fell off my varifocals and I couldn't find the little screw
A man from Hilary's blinds is coming to the house this afternoon to measure for kitchen blinds.

              Morning ladies
              Lovely peacock Nanto,
I have only ever seen white peacocks once , 3 together in the same place,

We. Are going to our friends house this morning for coffee, we seen them last week at SILs birthday but we were at each end of a long table so didn't get the chance to have a good natter then.

MIL seemed fine yesterday when B rang her, his older sister is going in today so she will let us know how she is and if we need to take anything tomorrow when we visit.

Not a bad morning a bit dull but warm.

Oma, no sign of the hospital discharging your MIL? Maybe they might advise her that she needs more care.

Games this afternoon for me. My cleaner is poorly so will not be coming until next Monday. Managed to push the vacuum around.

Gemini, H loves our library, she chooses some of her books now and loves the touchy feely things on the walls. Did I hear somewhere that they are going to make the Libraries completely self service?

I hope you had a nice catch up with your friends Oma.

Don't overdo do it with the vacuum Plant!

There is a small library in the leisure centre where I use the pool which is self service only Plant. All others in our area are staffed with paid staff, plus volunteers some days. You do check your books in and out on a machine, so self service in that way though.

We have ordered some blinds for the kitchen which will be fitted next month. They will have a remote control!

Hope you had a good catch up with your friends Oma.

Turned out to be a nice day here.
Washed a load of darks and got them dried.

Daisy, going to get busy in your neck of the woods.

hallo everyone, you blinds will be very nice Gem, a month is very fast compared to here, friends waited almost 3 months for their new apartment being fitted with blinds etc.

I have been to the fysio for a knee scan as it is so painful!!! I have cysts behind the knee which are causing most of the pain, I have them seen to (emptied) on 27th August, the doctors that do it are all on holiday at the moment.

We had a good chat between the scanning, I have known him for years.

Our library is run by volunteers up to 2pm when the librarian starts work. All the books we scan in and out ourselves.

Had a lovely visit with our friends, had a good chat.

We were thinking about remote control ones for MILs kitchen window, she has to stretch across the sink to use them,
She most likely won't agree to one but I will mention it .what colour have you gone for?

                        Plant

                          Good Wednesday afternoon, everyone.

Nanto, that peacock is stunning. I wonder what Gem's story is about them. How lovely to get your washing dried with no trouble.

Gem, it's good to hear that the library is well-used by families, especially in the holidays. The Summer Reading Challenge must mean a lot of youngsters don't give up on books during the holidays. I hope Boots fixed your glasses while you waited. We've got a little set of tiny screwdrivers and screws which come in useful quite often - they came out of a Christmas cracker! Well done on rescuing the beanbags. What a busy day with GS2 and 3 tomorrow. Remote control blinds sound very hi-tech, but really useful in the kitchen.

Oma, it's good to have a catch up with friends. As you say, sometimes you might be in the same room, but don't have a chance to talk. I hope MIL is on the mend. I think white peacocks are as a result of a recessive gene (not albinos) so it's possible for several in the same flock to inherit the gene. We have "white" deer in the Forest for the same reason.

Plant, I hope you have done well at the Games afternoon. Do you find fewer people turn up if it's a nice sunny day? I hope your cleaner is better for Monday. Don't be tempted to do anything too heavy and hurt your back again.

Lizzie, your poor knee. It sounds really painful. I hope it can be treated. Does it stop you riding your bike? Everything seems to be going self-service these days - remember when you used to get someone to serve you with petrol at the garage! Those were the days. Now, what with telephone or email consultations with doctors, self-service checkouts at the supermarkets, automatic car washes and all sorts of other things I just wonder when hairdressers and dentists are going to go self-service as well.

The traffic wasn't too bad this morning, despite the NF show, plus road works and 3-way lights on the main road into town. I picked up my new sunglasses, and am very pleased with them. Then we did a bit of shopping. I went into Boots for some make-up, and managed to persuade OH to go into Mountain Warehouse for some much-needed new trainers. While I was there I got a small backpack because I haven't been able to find a small cross-body bag I like, and picked up new beach towels as well. I think our "newest" beach towels are about 30 years old, so it was time for new ones. Then we called in to the vets for some medication for Eva - I don't want it to run out while we're away. I'm now waiting for the engineer to come and mend our leaking washing machine, and the washing is piling up - mostly things we want to take away. He did say "sometime after 1 o'clock".

Daisy, the knee is painful! I surprised GD1 yesterday, it was so painful getting in the car, she said "oh nan, is it as bad as that!".

I can ride my bike, luckily, getting on is painful then all goes well, walking is another thing though.

It must be very busy in your area for the show.

Last year with GD2 on holiday we saw white kangaroos, she fell in love with them so we had to cycle past each time we were out!!

I hope the man soon arrives for your washer.

Yes, everything is automatic nowadays. We get our medicine out of a safe in the wall, using birthdate and code.

Lizzie I wonder if they are Bakers Cysts you have? Those are behind the knee. At least you don't have the awful waits we have here for treatment. You will be glad to get it done.

Oma we both struggle ( especially me) to do our existing Venetian blinds. The man recommended the remote controlled one - obviously seeing we were no spring chickens
We went for grey pleated Roman blinds in a pattern similar to tweed. They match the colours of our tiles.

                              Daisy, what a shopping trip!

I am now going to the theatre tonight!
My DDs were all going but sadly DD1 isn't very well so can't go. DD3 rang to ask if I wanted to go and will pick me up. So off I go to get changed.!
They had asked me to go with them but as I am going to see another play on Friday with a friend I said no as I can't afford two in a week.
So, I am glad to be going but sorry DD1 isn't well.

Lizzie, your GDs are both very caring young ladies. I've never heard of white kangaroos - no wonder GD2 fell in love with them - I bet they looked very cute.

Gem, I'm sorry to hear your DD1 isn't very well, but an unexpected theatre trip is something you'll enjoy. At the moment I think both you and OH need a few extra treats. What are you going to see?

The washing machine man came about 4 o'clock, but didn't have the part (hose) to replace, so he's coming back tomorrow morning to fit it. Hey ho, the washing pile will have to wait.
