Lizzie, thank you for the photo of the fat bike. It looks very much like a moped from the days of our youth, but I think you needed to have at least a provisional motorbike licence to drive them. In France you there appeared to be no such restrictions and I can remember riding on the back of them (very uncomfortably). I think they were about 50cc. How sad that they cause so many fatalities.

Nanto, I hope you enjoyed y our fish and chips. I've commented on your appointment on your YEO thread. xx

Oma, I do hope your MIL hasn't changed her mind about fish and chips today. Did she sleep ok last night? Do the carers report to relatives to reassure them she's ok? I feel for dogs like Storm in this hot weather. They really don't like it. Eva has slept since we got home, and so has Cooper - they tire each other out normally, let alone when it's this warm.

Gem, I can just imagine little E as a crazy happy drunk person. He must have been tired, but not wanting to "give in" because everything was so much fun. Did you enjoy your lunch today? Your OH will certainly have an early start on Monday. We've found the roads relatively quiet this week - holiday makers don't seem to go in for early starts, and I guess a lot of people are working from home more in the school holidays, or are lucky enough to be away. I wish it was like that all the time.

The hospital appointment went ok today except I had to wait for an infusion as the prescription hadn't been signed by a doctor. The ward was very busy and all the nurses looked harassed. We went and collected Eva afterwards and had a much-needed cup of tea with DS2 and both GDs. OH made delicious sandwiches for lunch, and I had a much-needed nap afterwards. We need to water the garden pots tonight, as well as next-doors. It's about 28C and everything is wilting.

Just watered my pots, plants in them not looking very good.

Nanto, we live backing onto woodland near to a town and we have young lads constantly zooming through , too young to be on the road, then they take off onto the roads. Do the parents buy them?

Oma, I hope Mil gets on okay now she is home. Keeping a fluffy dog like Storm cool must be a problem. Does he have two coats.

GD has yet another cold, I hope she feels better by `Monday when we are booked to go to Cornwall.

Daisy, I hope you haven’t had any nasty effects from your hospital treatment. I bet Eva was pleased to see you so she could have a rest.

Lizzie, the bikes sound very dangerous!

Plant, fingers crossed your GD recovers quickly.

Daisy, I did enjoy my lunch today. To be honest though neither of us is in a very good place just now. Her going through a stressful relationship break up and me with my worries and concerns over OH and how things are going to change for us. We may have each been better with a happier lunch companion!
She kindly treated me to my lunch. Her car has been off the road for a few weeks now and I have been picking her up and driving her to the pool two or three times a week, so she wanted to thank me.

So hot again, I am finding driving around with no working air con very uncomfortable.
Oh has a very good golf game with her friend, followed by lunch. She said felt she played very well.

Gem, I'm so pleased OH had such a good game of golf. It all helps with her positivity, and I'm sure it helps you too. Sometimes it helps to share worries with another friend who is coping with different worries. You can share feelings, and perhaps look for positives. How kind of her to treat you to lunch, but she must be very grateful for the lifts you're giving her. Does your car's air con need regassing? I know my GS1 did his car himself with a kit from Halfords. But I know I wouldn't attempt it!!

Plant, poor GD getting another cold, and so close to your holiday next week. Summer colds are horrible, but hopefully the sea air and change will give her a chance to recuperate. I know there's not much chance of "rest" as such with a lively young person like H. Is she taking anything to try and boost her immune system? What a worry that young lads are behaving so recklessly. You can't help wondering if their parents even know what they're doing.

OH went and watered next door's garden tonight, and I started doing ours, then we saw new neighbours who moved in 3 doors away last week. I'd "met" her on a local Whats App group, so we invited them in for an impromptu drink. They seem a lovely couple, probably 25-30 years younger than us, but we had a lot in common. Then I had a quick update of the Sainsbury's order due tomorrow, and the rest of the watering in our garden will have to wait until tomorrow morning.

Daisy, always nice to meet new neighbours.

Gem, nice to hear OH had a good game of golf.

Today, we are going to another town we haven't been to for many years.
South Elmsall is where we are going. Its roughly about 9 miles from us.
I can vaguely remember wht its like, but some thing might have changed.

                Morning Nanto,Ladies

                Nanto
Enjoy your trip out , it will be interesting to hear if it's changed a lot,
I know the town I was born in is unrecognisable now.

                Daisy
How nice to meet your new neighbours.
MIl is doing fine, carers don't report unless she's ill or hurt herself, Bs sister was there yesterday and we may pop over tomorrow.

                Plant
Poor GD I hope it doesn't spoil your holidays,
Yes Storm has two coats , very thick and fluffy,
DD has kept the blinds and curtains closed all week to keep the rooms cool for him,

                Lizzie
You hear about so many fires started by E bikes and E scooters , it's scary
It should be illegal to charge them indoors or anywhere near,

Although they do explode even when not being charged, and as you say cheap imports with no safety restrictions.

I was reading last week a 87 yr old woman had bought a E scooter to get around on,
I thought that's a broken hip waiting to happen, they can go at some speed those things.
She would have been safer in a mobility scooter.

It's a bit dull bet so stuffy, nothing planned today, everything is clean , ironing done so maybe a lazy day 😁

Forgot to tell you all ,
We have the most stupid Husky on the planet ,
Yesterday the patio doors were wide open but he decided to stand at the back door and cry to be out🫣
He had been coming in and out all day but decided no other door would do but the backdoor.
I wouldn't open it so he sulked on his bed for 5 minutes then went out of the patio doors.
Stupid dog just as well we love him .
Im not fat just 6ft too small

Good morning, Oma, the neighbour of DS1 was with the police and now works for an emergency team after fires start, he was telling DS1 that 9 times out of 10 the fires are started by those (cheap) batteries being loaded indoors.

Well, a woman of 87 on an E scooter is an accident waiting to happen!

It is cooler here but still muggy, I have just spoke to GD1, they are really enjoying themselves.

Gem, it was nice of the friend to pay for your lunch, we usually go on our bikes to aqua, if I go in the car I take the 2 ladies out of the flat and another from the other side of the village, I pick her up and take her home, if it rains I go by car and when it was so warm I did as well, I have told them I won't stop for coffee as I want to get my compression back on as soon as I can. Do they appreciate it or take it for granted??? I think the granted option, they all went out for lunch last week, I couldn't have gone anyway as it is too long to sit for me, especially at the moment, when the lady out of the flat asked why I wasn't going I told her I couldn't afford it, just to see what she said. Between the 3 of them they could have said "we will treat you". As I say they just take it for granted, as for the lunch, I couldn't have gone anyway but it would have been nice of them to offer!!! Rant over!!!!

I have been on the bike for my veg, cycling is no bother, just getting on and off!!

Nanto, enjoy the new town, I must say I have never heard of it. I have just had a look, it isn't far from Doncaster is it.

                      Good morning everyone.

Let us know how South Elmsall was Nan2. Another place I have heard of but never been to!

                      LOL at Storm Oma

That sounds a nice evening with the new neighbours Daisy. I'm sure they are glad to meet nice friendly neighbours.

Lizzie, you and I, and I bet everyone here, would be grateful for lifts and want to repay in some way. They should have invited you to lunch and paid and you are right to rant to us! xx

DD1 has just left. She was at the bakery in our village so dropped in. She is so happy and well after her week away (I will write about this elsewhere later) It was lovely to see her
OH and I are going to a murder mystery dinner tonight! Two friends invited us a while ago. We are looking forward to it. I will make thread about this too. We need more threads away from Chat!

                      Happy Saturday ladies.

Gem, it wasn't so much the lunch as the thought!! I can afford a lunch. To be honest I have just transferred money to GD1 and BF so they can go out for meal , on me, I decided to do it when they booked, they were here at the time, I could have helped them with a more expensive stay but they paid themselves so I decided I would treat them to a meal, or whatever they want to do!

They did phone this morning and are visiting the old town this morning, I was there, well, it must be almost 40 years ago, I can remember the walled town, oh and the fact that I sat on a wasp the first day there and it was painful all them time I was there

I am pleased your GD1 had a good week away, have they got the divorce yet? I was talking to A next door, his youngest daughter is in the middle of a messy divorce, 2 grown children, lots of pets, if she has to leave the home he has no idea what will happen.

Lizzie, I know you can afford it, but they should be more considerate!
Yes, the divorce was finally settled a few weeks ago. It took long enough!

Lizzie, how thoughtless of the others not to invite you to the meal.

South Elmsall is bad, really bad. It is so run down. Wakefield council need to spend some serious money on it.
We were talking to a lady in a cafe, who was born and bred there, and she said how bad it is now.
She said she loves our town since all the work that was done on it.
There were no public loos open. We went in Aldi, to use the loo, but that was out of order.
The kind ladies in the library let us use theirs.
It will be a loooooong time before we go again, if ever.
