My word it was very cold early this morning, I was up at sparrows cough as I had to be all the way the other side of town for my appointment with the nurse. If I have to go again I would insist on an appointment in the surgery much closer to home. When I was in sitting in the packed waiting room I noticed I was the only person with magazine in my hand, everyone else was bent over double looking at their phones !
After seeing the nurse I went into town and brought a box of Christmas cards and some money wallets . I had a look at wrapping paper but couldn't find anything I liked which is silly really as its only going to be torn to pieces by the GC in their excitement to open their presents.

Zizi this up and coming holiday will do you the world of good.

Not sure what I am going to do later today, I need to recover from my epic round trip this morning, doesn't take much to wear me out at the moment.

Stay warm ladies whatever your plans are
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Gem my meeting is 08.45 to 10.30 so I will be long gone by the time you get there. Where are you going? There are lots of nice restaurants around there my favourite being The German Gym which was really a Gym in the late 1800s. It was the first Gym in Europe (if not the world) where men and women could exercise together. When KX was still a tip our client had their offices there and I used to run lots of educational events there. It was a great venue for events and it is always nice for me to go back there and see what it is like now.

Lots of nice shops in St Pancras, they change all the time, very dangerous for me to detour in the way to my site as I spend far too much money on things I really do not need from shops like Kiki, L’Occitaine, Paperchase etc. Couple of good restaurants in Granary Square as well. There is a natural park near the station too, Camley Street Natural Park and there is a museum of art in the Square too. So much different from when I first started working there when it was just falling down buildings and rubble.

Mimi I hope it will boost me up a bit in time for Christmas. I have been invited to a lot of site Christmas parties but I don’t want to go to any of them, not because I am being bah humbug but because of the journey back alone. I am becoming a wimp........

Zizi, it's a shame our times don't match, to meet up for a coffee. We are in London to meet up with our friend from Brooklyn who will be in London for a few days before going on a Portugese cruise. We are spending all Saturday with her, and on Sunday 2 mutual friends are coming from Southampton, Portsmouth or somewhere (I always forget!) , and possibly another mutual friend who lives in London will be with us. Our train home is mid afternoon on Sunday.
The American friend knows parts of London better than I do, LOL, as her son was at until there for a year. Thank you for your recommendations, very useful. On Friday late afternoon or evening OH and I want to see Murder on The Orient Express. DO you know which is the nearest cinema Zizi? We are staying at Premier Inn opposite St Pancras, as we usually do.

            Beautiful flowers Enfys

Baby GS has been very good this morning, if a little 'cuddly', which is always a sign he's not 100%. He ate a good lunch, and went down happily for his nap.
Off to the library now, then to collect GD from school.

Plant....we shred our paper and take it to the local tip where it goes in with the garden waste, or the cardboard, depends on which operative happens to be there!
Been and had some waxing done so am beard free now!
Turned a bit grey here and it's definitely getting colder.
Washed the small windows in the lounge in readiness for the curtains arriving ( no sign of the yet, but I'm being prepared) and am now going to finish the ironing which I started yesterday!
OH gone off to garden centre I think looking for advice for a plant which is invading our lawn. Not clover, looks like pennywort, but that's what the river's covered with at the moment, so don't know if it's a land based?wort.

Enfys, the flowers are lovely,so thoughtful of Qwerty.

Another parcel arrived today, A lovely case full of make up for youngest grandaughter.
Even hubby remarked how nice it is.

Made a start on wrapping up the presents. Not my favourite job.

Gem, hope GS isn't sickening for something.

Gem as far as I remember the two cinemas showing that film near there are Vue Islington which is about 10 minutes in a cab and 20 minutes walk (well at my pace) and Odeon Camden 10 minutes cab and 25 minutes walk. There is a small cinema near my site but it is one of those viewing ones and very expensive as in about twenty quid to get in! Very smart and comfy though with armchairs and a bar! I don’t know what is showing on there, it is called Everyman and is ten minutes walk down the Kings Boulevard and through Granary Square. Wouldn’t be suitable to get a cab to there because of the road layout (Bruddy builders) as you would go half way around the world and it would cost a fortune. Easier to walk.

Feeling very stuffed after my fish and chip lunch, most of the other ladies had puddings and I do mean puddings such as crumble, spotted dick, it was a very enjoyable lunchtime.

Enfys, Qwerty is a very generous, lovely lady, I have been at the receiving end of her thoughtful surprises.

Wee Granny, your little donkey is hiding somewhere. It would be lovely to see him. Did you send him to your Media straight from your phone?

Plant - fish and chips is so filling - those ladies who had puddings must have been starving for at least a week! Glad you enjoyed it though. An occasional treat does us all good.

Enfys, the flowers from Qwerty are beautiful - I won't make her blush, but it makes me rally happy when I see how friendships have grown through GRU. xx

And we have our own personal travel guides - I'm sure Gem's spoilt for choice with Zizi's rundown on the local scene where she will be staying this week-end.

WG - we've got a weed that looks a lot like clover, but isn't. It's not pennywort though - it's got leaves like clover, possibly a bit smaller, and is a sort of bronze colour and comes out in small yellow flowers. It's wormed its way into the green house and I'm having trouble stopping it taking over. Oh! Well done, Mr Google - I've just searched for a 'weed a bit like clover' - and found the culprit - Oxalis - and it spreads everywhere!! Apparently it can be brought into the garden via a garden centre plant. I must put more effort into getting rid of the little invader.

Mimi - what a nuisnace having to travel so far if you could have gone to the nearer surgery for your appointment. I always think packed waiting rooms are the ideal place to pick up whatever bugs etc are going round. They can't be healthy - and that's without people crouching over their phones! There was a time when we would know half the people there and chat to them! How quaint. I hope the appointment went ok.

Zizi - I hope you get through all your jobs before you go on holiday. Take some time out to sort out what you're packing though - it's part of the holiday.

I intended to go out about 11 am and do some shopping before the hairdressers at 12.45, but one thing and another, including not wanting to go out in the cold, I ended up leaving home at 11.45. It's market day in the town, but I usually park in the parking area attached to my DS2's shop, but it was packed today so I had to go round the block again and find a space in the public car park - in the space of a couple of minutes, one car nearly hit me by trying to leave through the one-way entrance, I was lined up to reverse into a space and a car came towards me and instead of waiting for a few seconds while I reversed she just sat there, and then a supermarket delivery van blocked me in on the other side. I didn't realise my car was invisible!!! Grrr.... Anyway, I then had very little time to shop, went and got OH a paper, and got a 2018 calendar for my study and that was it!

I came home, had lunch, and then a nana nap - much needed after yesterday.

Tonight we had a lovely phone call from some very good friends who live in France, and they are unexpectedly coming over at the beginning of December, so it will be lovely to catch up with them.
