    Hello again.
I hope you feel better soon Zizi, throw the tea towels away.
    Hooray, Oma's boiler is fixed!
Enjoy some childfree time now Qwerty
    Nearly holiday time Nan2!

BP fine, and blood tests for diabetes, cholesterol etc all clear, so that's good
We were hours at OH's friend's house sorting out her things. Luckily she gave us coffee and Kit Kat, but I was still ravenous when we got home at 2pm!
That's true Oma, I don't get GD on her own enough. The age gap between her and GS2 is such that it's difficult to do much with both of them. I keep wanting to have her on a Saturday after ballet and overnight, but she is so busy! She does me good. I'm sure my good blood pressure reading this morning was helped by being with her yesterday!

MRI scan this morning seemed to go OK, but if I hadn't had a headache when I went in, I'd certainly have had one when I came out! even with ear plugs and ear protectors the noise was something else....even got a little bit of a massage at one point! However, see my consultant in a fortnight to get results. Have developed a nasty cold, nose running etc but managed to get through scan without a sniff or cough!
Went to Waitrose for shopping after ( that shop is too close to the hospital!!) but it was manic! Got what we went for and came home. Haven't done very much since then. OH finished cutting grass and it looks very green and tidy now.
Oma...you should be warm and toasty now the boiler's fixed!
Zizi.....hope you're nose has stopped running and you're planning to buy some new tea towels!
Been a glorious day here again.
Just had text from JL saying the estimator will be here between 10 and 11 tomorrow morning, so we don't have to get up at the crack of dawn.
        Enjoy your weekend everyone!
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

What an exciting time you are all having, cat flap, keys, fluffy slippers, toffee apples, tea towels with blood stains, new flue fiddled with, fences over, etc.

I on the other hand have a a very busy, enjoyable day. Blood test this morning, called at our favourite hostelry to book a table for my birthday on Sunday, at the last count we will be 11 of us, + baby GGS, only one GC missing, but if she hears all the family are going out to lunch she might pop home. Went to a National trust talk about Red Kites this afternoon, they were introduced to the Chilterns some years ago and we can have as many as 5/10 flying overhead, very interesting. Now looking forward to my Friday evening G&T with my GD1. It has been a beautiful sunny day and the beech trees are gorgeous lit up by the sun.

Have a lovely break, (of the holiday sort) Nanto.

I don't really want to talk about my fluffy dressing gown with snowflakes on it, or my pink fluffy bed socks, or my pink crocs, so I thought I'd show you the trouble I'd gone to - my best jim jams!

Oma - I do hope your boiler is ok now - it's getting a bit chilly to be without it.

Qwerty - it's the Wreck of the Hesperus, and if I remember rightly (school was a very long time ago!) it's a poem about pride and how it can be devastating! I'm quite certain your hair doesn't qualify - it's lovely, and beautifully cut.

Zizi - join your body on its go slow and relax and take it easy. I agree - chuck the teatowels!

Oma - what on earth were you and B doing with your toffee apples - sword fencing?

Nanto - 4 nights is much better than 0 nights, and I'm sure you will enjoy it. What part of Spain?

We now have a fence! It looks a bit orange at the moment, but it will weather! OH left about 1.30 to go up to DS1's - and didn't get there until 3 pm (it's a 65 minute journey!) he was a bit fed up. OH, dS1 and both GSs are travelling down to Bude tonight, and staying there over night then on to Newquay to see the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car - I bet you're all really jealous!

The British-led Bloodhound vehicle carries out some slow-speed trials in Newquay, Cornwall.

You'd have trouble parking it in Sainsburys!!!

I took Eva for a good run in the paddock and then did a bit more pyrography. It took me ages to change a 'nib', so didn't get much done. Am just about to get something to eat and play with the tv remote! Hahaha

Daisy, hubby wanted to go to Benalmadena, but we couldn't get in anywhere, so we are staying in Torremolinos.

We have been to Benalmadena for a day, and it's a lovelt stroll on the prom from where we are staying.
Plenty of cafes on the way,so we can people watch.
The hotel we are staying in, was one of the first to be built in the area.
Apparantley, it was a favourite of Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelly. We know someone who stayed there a couple of years ago, and they highly recommended it.

Oma, Storm looks very happy with the birthday cap on.

Plant I would rather not have had my exciting time! I do have a lot of tea towels and will buy replacements tomorrow. My nose and the left hand side of my top lip are very dry and sore, not a great look methinks!

Sitting room is now decorated. The sofas we have need to be chopped up to get them out. When we got them (a long time ago) we had to have the window taken out as the turn from the stairs to the sitting room was too sharp. In those days it was the old double glazing so it lifted out. One of the sofas is in perfect condition only ever sat on when visitors came. Son says it is stupid to pay to have the window removed to get the sofa out to give it away to someone for nothing. I can see his point but...... so anyway the Next chairs are due just before we go on holiday and the other ones when we get back. We are going to get a couple of foam chair beds for the spare room which we will use in the sitting room until the others arrive and I get everything sorted.

Daisy you know me, I cannot slow down even if I try and I do try it is just that things need to be done and if I don’t do them they will just sit there as they are now. Love my husband to bits but he does need “leading” or he would be in this flat with no decorating done for the next three years!

Wee Granny - pleased to hear the MRI scan went ok - it seems to take ages, doesn't it. I had one many years ago for my back problems - no headphones as far as I can remember, and I had to go to Somerset for it! Hopefully your migraines will ease off. Perhaps it's just a result of things you've been worrying about.

Gem - well done on keeping your BP down, especially after your disrupted night earlier in the week. I know what you mean about the age gap between your GD and GS2 - I thought my two GDs would never play together but now GD2 is nearly 4 and GD1 is just 7 it's much easier, and also that they're both girls. But even with the bigger gap and girl/boy I think they will find games they do play together, and there will be more things you can take them both to.

Nanto - that sounds lovely, and a rather glam hotel! I love sitting in the sun at a pavement cafe watching the world go by. Have you done all your packing now?

Plant - how lovely getting most of your family together for your birthday lunch/dinner. Although I think you might have to share the limelight with a certain young man with a lovely smile.

Zizi - I know you're always on the go, but I keep trying! xx Are you pleased with your newly decorated sitting room? It does seem a shame to chop up a perfectly good sofa, but it sounds like the only way. A lovely holiday and a new sitting room to look forward to is lovely, and a great boost to lift your spirits before winter sets in.

Oma - Storm is gorgeous. I bet it was a riot at the doggy day care party! The good day care providers are brilliant, and it must be lovely to see how he looks forward to going there.

Oh dear, the best laid plans .... I had expected to have a quiet evening doing nothing much more taxing that sitting in front of the tv with a prawn and mushroom salad and command over the remote with oH being away. But I'd forgotten it was the firework display at the football club in the village. It's a good mile away, but Eva spent 2 hours shaking like a jelly, and then another hour or so pacing round not wanting to settle. And this is just the start of the firework season.

Daisy have you tried those Thunder jackets on Eva ? we heard they are good for nervous dogs but haven't tried Storm in one , luckily so far he doesn't seem to bothered by the noise , runs from window to window but not cowering DD said ,

Good morning all. A bit dull here but doesn’t feel cold (says she, still in bed!).

Enjoy your holiday Nan2, a nice time of year to go away.

I do hope Eva doesn’t get too upset by the fireworks Daisy. Poor girl. I remember when DD first had Dexter she was concerned when Nov 5 came around and read up on all the things to do with dogs at that time. Dexter however had other ideas and just totally ignored all the bangs and crashes. Now he goes into the garden and just sits and watches them, nothing seems to worry that dog. Oh, only little children on scooters and pushchairs, he doesn’t seem to like the wheels.😏

                            Good morning

Dashing in and out of here, as I have to be somewhere very soon!
The library friends group are holding a coffee cakes and crafts morning. So, off I go to do my bit. It would have been nice to have lie in as we were out last night, but there you go!
Hope everyone is well. I will catch up this afternoon.

Oma - yes, she's got one, and it's the first thing I do when she starts to look anxious. It does help quite a lot. If I'm expecting fireworks or a thunder storm I give her Rescue Remedy, but I'd forgotten about last night's display, and anyway thought it was far enough away not to be a problem, but I think the sound was travelling on the cold, still air - no wind to send the noise away from us.

Enfys - how lovely that Dexter like Storm, doesn't mind the disruption. Rusty was never frightened by fireworks or thunder, Clyde wouldn't go out in the garden but was fine in the house. I wonder if Dexter has had his paws run over by a child's scooter/bike when he was a puppy?

Nanto - good morning. I don't envy you your early start tomorrow, but at least with the hour going back it will feel like 4.30 not 3.30!

We've had our first frost of the winter overnight! After my display in dressing gown and pink fluffy bedsocks in the morning, I ended the day skulking round the garden after midnight putting fleece jackets on tender plants! Up till then I'd been nursing the huge shaking furry jelly (Eva). Any neighbours not safely tucked up in their beds would have thought I'm mad! LOL

OH phoned from the hotel on his way to the Bloodhound SSC thingy. They stayed in Bude in a quirky hotel where you can have gin-making parties, and there's an old but perfect Norton motor bike in the bar. Do you think I should be worried about him!!! He said he had a beautiful sea view from his bedroom. They won't be back at DS1's until late tonight so he'll have dinner there. So I still don't know whether he'll come back tonight or tomorrow.

I'm going to run the sucky up thingy round upstairs this morning and do a couple of loads of washing. After lunch I might try and do a bit more on my pyrography project. I really want to get it finished - it feels as though I've got several things on the go and I'm not making progress!

I have a man coming this morning to give me a quote for sorting out a border for me, I am going to have to make sacrifices I know, to get some normality. I live up to my name and cant resist a pretty or interesting plant and I have been shoving plants in little spaces for years and it has become overgrown and a mish mash of plants. Not sure what the rest of the day will bring.
You are right Daisy I think the little one have the limelight.

Those poor dogs, our Golden Retriever was so laid back she never noticed them.
Hope you get your OH back soon Daisy.

Germini I hope your Library coffee morning goes well and you get lots of visitors.
