Good mid- morning all.
Niece has just left.A long journey ahead but her car has good air-con so she”ll be cooler than us.Traffic won’t be too good on a hot Friday but she is a very experienced driver. In fact she is a driving test examiner

I’ve got a lot of sorting out to do and tidying up but no rush luckily so I’m taking it easy.

Enfys.although you were expecting OH to feel wiped out a bit he must be doubly so in this heat. At least it shows the treatment is working.

I’ve got a lot of leftovers to use up ( I always seem to have after visitors).I bought a lot of strawberries but unfortunately didn’t know niece didn’t like them

Just catching up. Lazy day for me today. OH & I worked 3 days clearing the garage this week. He went golfing Thurs & a leaving do today so I'm taking the oportunity to rest up.

Enfys sorry to hear your OH is feeling poorly. Gem I saw that you found your daughter, (on fbk). Bet you had a good day. I haven't seen anything about dogs & the heat. I did hear a good tip tho. Go outside & put the back of your hand on the pavement & count 3 seconds. If you have to pull your hand away before the 3sec is up then it's too hot for your dog's paws.

I don’t think I can got through all the posts on here just got rid of 300 e mails and no energy left at the moment, maybe will try and trawl through but if I miss something it’s not that I don’t care just got a lot on my plate at the moment, things are not good with OH at the mo and I’m finding it a struggle , not much else to report DS went on holiday today with his in laws somewhere on the east coast, tomorrow OH goes for his last hopefully if nothings changed CT scan 4.45 on a Saturday have these people got no homes to go to .
Gem don’t know when your back but hope your still there enjoying yourselves .
Oma hope you had a nice meal yesterday with the family.
Enfys I am sorry to hear P is not so good I hoped he might have been spared the ordeal that goes with chemotherapy , hope he feels better soon ,chin up my love

A pity about the strawberries Clover!

In the end we got the bus to the beach (3 stops from outside the hotel) And DD and friends came by taxi from Palma where they are staying. We had the loveliest day, and they came back to our hotel on the bus with us and we all had cocktails in our pool side bar, before they went back to their hotel and us to our dinner. I didn't want much to eat. Not sure if it was the heat or the Pina Colada! On our balcony in Jim jams now.

Enfys - I'm sorry P is feeling under the weather today. I'm sure you're making him rest to give himself a chance to recover as quickly as possible. Sending hugs to you both.

I really can't understand the attitude of people who do things like leave their dogs in cars - even opening all the windows a bit doesn't help. The item I read via a dog group was written by a vet and graphically described what happens to a dog when it overheats. I won't repeat it here, but it is truly horrendous and fatal. And if you've ever tried to walk on hot sand on holiday, imagine what that's like for a dog's paws on a hot pavement! Oma - I'm horrified by the burnt paws dogs get - it must be agony for them.

The other thing that struck me - I used the hosepipe to run some water into a washing up bowl for Eva to play in this afternoon and the water that had obviously been in the hosepipe was scalding hot! Just a thought if anyone is using a hosepipe for water play with their GCs, make sure you run the hot water off first!


Nana - 3 days clearing the garage in this heat - you deserve a medal young lady!!! Yes, a good test for the heat of the pavement!

Qwerty - we've missed you, so a big 'Welcome home'!! I'm sorry your OH isn't so well at the moment. I know it's hard on him, but also on you, especially when you have so much else to cope with. Let's hope it is the last CT scan tomorrow - that will be a weight off his mind and might help a bit. You know we're all here for you. xx

Maybe we should have a thread on tips of what to do/not do in a heatwave. Daisy I would never have given the hosepipe a thought. Whilst clearing the garage OH left the child car seat outside of the shade of the garage. When he went to put it back in he burnt his hand on the metal fitting.

On fbk it also demonstrated why you shouldn't put a cover over a child's buggy. The rise in temperature under the cover rose dramatically compared to a buggy beside it without cover.

Qwerty I got your PM thanks & have replied. I can't see that my inbox is full. I tried to find the pictures of your adorable twins in their uniform again to comment but now I can't find them. I can't see any of the pictures in your 1st media folder either. Hope OH's scan goes well. My last CT Scan was at 7:45pm! Chin up girl.x

What a night. Had about 1½ hours sleep,be thankful for small mercies,it could have been no sleep.

Going into town this morning. Told him he will have to have a 2nd cup of coffee at the cafe.
There is a shop i want to go to, for his birthday present. Birthday not till the 17th, but hope to get his present today.

Good morning from me. Just enjoying my first cuppa of the day - I haven't found any teddy bears lurking in it, Nanto!!!

We're off to the supermarket early, hoping it won't be too crowded. After that, I'll try and get a bit more gardening done.

Thinking of you and OH today, Qwerty. Enfys - I hope P is feeling a bit better. Libra - I bet you're busy packing for tomorrow's trip down to see T and family.

DD and SIL back from Wales, had a lovely time, SIL climbed Snowdon, ladies went to Portmeirion. DD said it was like Disneyland. Not sure what I am going to be doing today, slept late.
My day at Guide camp was fun as usual. they kept us fed all day, silly games and a quiz, the camp theme was about the RAF. We sat in the shade for most of the day and with a breeze felt quite cool. They are a grand lot.

Enfys, hope your OH is feeling a bit stronger today.

Good morning all I have just done the ironing , its the first time in almost two weeks so I don't feel I have disgraced the MT club

Plant Guide club sounded lovely . Sitting in the shade with a cooling breeze sounds like something we could all do with at the moment.

Qwerty when is OH's scan , I have been on here for the last 24 hours so I may well have missed that. Hope it has gone well.

Nan2 its horrible when you can't sleep The other night I got hardly any sleep at all. Last time I looked at the clock was 6am and I must have fallen asleep only to wake again at 20 past 6 ! I wonder how I managed to function through the day . Get plenty of sleep they say, its bad for your health if you don't . Its not as if we deliberately say awake is it ?

Hot sun but cool breeze so more comfortable on our walk.
Hissy thing calling,I might play deaf.
Niece got home eventually..Lots of hold-ups due to volume of traffic and sadly, accidents.
Sorry for you ladies who didn’t sleep well.It’s bad enough on a usual night but in this heat it must be twice as bad.
If your OH or anyone you know is under the weather I hope they feel better soon.
