Gem I bet your Mum will be so pleased when its done its just been making that first step to ask for help hasn't it ,
Wonder if the weather will be kind for Plant I do hope so ,

Not as much pain this morning I think it might have peaked and now going to settle down again , I did get a good few hours sleep , not sure if that was the pain is less or just exhausted either way I feel better for it ,

      Good moaning!
Oma, glad you managed some sleep, I hope the pain is now on the way out. Mimi, have a look here.https://www.thehomelaundrycompany.co...emium-quality/
These are brilliant, several options of size and very sturdy. You can wind the pole up higher, and when it is wound down it locks in position so you are not chasing the line round on a windy day!
You can lift it out easily when you need to mow the lawn etc.
Plant, watch out for hungry lions, keep your sandwiches to yourself.
Gem, enjoy your fish and chips. The thought would spur me on to greater things.
Having a bit of a tidy up here, my brothers and SiLs are coming tomorrow. This event has been put off so many times now. I can’t wait to see them. I may even dust!
      Have a good day ladies.

        Morning all.
Woke to rain but that soon cleared and sun forecast for rest of day. Washing nearly ready to go out.Trying to keep busy to keep my mind of OH’s hospital appointment tomorrow.

Oma pleased you had a better night.

Gem I’m picturing you as the stereotypical Mrs Mopp with a cross over flowered pinny and a headscarf tied round the back.Try not to overdo it,easier said than done when there is a lot to do. I bet your Mum will be really pleased even if she doesn’t express it.

        Have a good one ladies.

And, relax ..... coffee ready, heating going full blast, and time for a Granny chat. There's a dismal November-like view of the garden. Unfortunately I've got to go out sometime this morning to post a card for tomorrow! Somehow I don't think it's going to be a nice relaxing walk with Eva - more like a quick dash out to the car!

Plant - I do hope the weather is better in Wiltshire than here - if it's like this the animals at Longleat will be tucked up in their shelters.

Libra - It's really good to hear that your DD chatted for half an hour with your OH. I hope she can go to Rehab soon. xx

Oma - it's good to hear you're feeling a bit better - but don't go overdoing things. The weather's horrible and you can't do housework while it's raining - it's the law!

Grauntie - that washing line looks good. We've got a rotary one that never rotates unless you give it a good shove. I'd love a 'proper' line that you can push up higher with a pole, but there's nowhere in our garden to put one.

I'm planning on shopping tomorrow, a tidy up and some cooking on Friday ready for OH's sister, her OH, a niece and her OH coming for coffee and lunch on Saturday. Really looking forward to seeing them, and if I can get a meal which I can prepare ahead I can relax and enjoy the company. That's the theory!

Gem - I hope you and OH are getting on ok with your Mum's spring clean. Don't overdo it though. Fish and chips tonight will be well-earned.

Nanto - isn't it frustrating when the mower won't start! Glad you got it done before it rained.

Mimi - I can just picture your face when you found all your washing folded into the washing line. Did you have to wash it all again?

I'm taking Eva to dog training tonight as we missed last night. It will be interesting to see how she reacts to a different set of dogs.

          Stay warm and dry, everyone.

Good morning all. What a night , wind howling , rain battering down on the windows but as I type it looks as if the sun is trying to make an appearance.

No Daisy I was lucky as the washing was lying on the lawn and we were having one of those rare occurrences ....a dry sunny day so the lawn was nice and dry, now if it had happened today that would have been a different story, I would most certainly would have had to rewash the whole lot.

Grauntie thanks for the link, I would have most probably ordered from there but I wanted delivery ASAP so have just ordered a new , stronger (hopefully ) one from Argos with the fast track delivery service as I need somewhere to hang the washing as DS is coming to stay Friday night and he will most certainly bring some washing with him . The lady that does his washing is on holiday for the next three weeks so guess who will be stepping up to volunteer to do it for him. Unfortunately where he lives there is no place to have a washing machine. He has one from his previous accommodation but it is now sitting in his brothers garage .

Oma its a slow recovery isn't it so don't go doing too much, skirting boards don't need cleaning today I am sure , we all know what you are like!

Gem, how is the spring cleaning coming along , while you are at it you could pop over here with the Mr Sheen and a duster if you like

As well as DS coming to stay Friday night /Saturday DG has said she is coming to stay Sunday /Monday so we will have full house (flat) this weekend . Better order extra food in as they both have big appetites

Fingers crossed this sunshine will last and I can get outside and plant up some hanging baskets. Have a lovely day every one

Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi - what a busy week-end you will have - but a nice one, I hope!

Don't us mums always step in and help with the chores for our offspring! We deserve medals, and halos!!!

Mimi, a busy weekend for you with visitors.

                Gem, hows the cleaning going.

Oma, pleased to hear the pain is reducing.

Cleaned upstairs. Bedding on the line.

Sun has come out,and feels quite warm in the sun.

We have a very small garden and couldn't accommodate a rotary line so I have a Retractable line fixed to the wall and a hook on the bottom fence it can tie too then back to the utility wall so it makes like a V shape with two lines
I can then use expandable props , it works well and when I'm finished I just unhook it all and it retracts back into its holder all neat and tidy

Gem you missed a trick there, should of called on the Oma and Qwerty duo for cleaning at your Mum 's. You could of directed them with your feet up. 😁😁
I have what I call a proper washing line + a small freestanding rotary I put on my patio. We were so lucky to escape the rain, stopped in time for doggy walks 🐕🐕
Had a viewing while we were out, no feed back yet. Will catch up on the news later, time for a cuppa. ☕

That’s what DS and DIL have planned for their garden now that DS has re landscaped the garden, a rotary airer would spoil the look and there isn’t the room , what with a pond, seated decking, pizza oven and BBQ wood storage, recycling bin hideaway and small patio .
For us a rotary aier sits happily on the lawn and we are able to pop it in the shed when GC want to play on the lawn

We used to have a rotary line, until hubby made some alterations to the garden.
I have 2 ordinary lines now.

Quite breezy here, but it's dried the bedding.
A good job the tulips have got flexible stems,as they are getting blown about as well.

The rain fainllay stopped here about mid-day, so I walked Eva into the village to post cards at the post office. The post boxes round the village don't get emptied at regular times, so it meant a trip to the PO. It was incredibly wet and muddy. We have a ford at the end of the main shopping road in the village, and lots of cars were driving up to it - and sensibly turning round and going another way. But some decided to drive through - Eva wasn't to keen on the noise and wake , or the cars suddenly stopping and ding 3 point turns towards her!

Then she didn't like the scaffolding outside the PO, which is closed for whatever they are doing there. So I crossed the road to go back, and as we got to Sainsbury's the automatic door sprung open and Eva really didn't like that at all. She dug her paws in very firmly! We backed off a bit and I let her sit and watch it opening and closing at a safe distance for a while, then briskly said 'come on, let's go' and marched her past. Just when we think she's getting used to things, something else happens .... still she is getting better. I decided to walk back on the main road, which is further but less muddy, and she walked nicely past some donkeys, two tractors with loaded trailers, a couple of holidaymakers, workmen unloading gravel from a lorry, and more scaffolding outside one of the hotels. Needless to say, she's still sleeping it off. She doesn't know she's got training tonight with a group of dogs she probably doesn't know!

I'm being a star chef (not really, but I can dream) and testing out a recipe for tonight. If it's edible I'll make it for our visitors on Saturday. It looks easy enough - famous last words!!!

I do envy all those 'proper' washing lines!!

I'm still using the 'Hill's Hoist' ( no Ozzie back yard should be with out one!) we brought back from Australia some 28 years ago. I'd love a proper washing line though!

Rain finally stopped and things drying up now.

Been shopping with OH, not an easy job, and got stuck in a traffic jam on way home. Luckily managed to get off and came home another way. Not before an argument about his driving. Twice I had to remind him to change gears!!! Doesn't sound like much, but that was one of the things his father did before he started to have memory problems. Hopefully it's just a temporary thing.

Voting day for us tomorrow in Parish and District elections. I don't know if it's because we've got lots of new people in village, but there have been some lively debates on our village FB page. I think the parish council might be in for a bit of a shake up!

Just got in. We cleaned from just after 10 until 5, with only a couple of short breaks. OH is now in the shower, I am about to have a bath, for my aching back.
We got most of what we intended done, so it was satisfying. Mum was very grateful. We would need another day really to get it as we would like it, but we are pleased with what we did in the time we had.
Fish and chips later. I haven't read back on this thread yet. I will do some catching up later tonight , the rest tomorrow. Happy to see Glamma's nice news
