I had a “funny turn” this morning and took myself off to bed for a while. Feel a little better now.

Yesterday in the greengrocers I asked husband to get me four jacket potatoes, he bought loads! Think it might be four kilos...... so I have just put a big pan on to make leek and potato soup. It will be everything potatoes this week I think!

Yesterday when I ordered the wardrobes I paid the deposit there and then via my iPad at my dining table and the chappie said that they do not take cards of any sort but they do take cheques. I do not like the idea of supermarket check out staff being the only source of cash. It kind of leaves us open to fraud doesn’t it? Plus how would it work? Would we have to stand in a queue like in a bank in “olden days” if so where is the advantage to the customers?
I go occasionally to our bank if I want to take some cash out and even that is done via a computer. I don’t know how people who aren’t ‘internet savvy ‘ manage. I don’t like the idea of banking in a supermarket, for one thing will they have a separate kiosk rather than customer service till and normal shopping tills .Imagine the queues !

I bank online, but still visit the bank. i save £2 coins, so every few weeks i go to pay them in.

Daisy, hope the meeting went well between Eva and Cooper.

Plant, meal out with GS sounds lovely.

Royal mail must have been on the ball this weekend. I posted the cards on Friday, all were 2nd class stamps,
and they were delivered yesterday. I didn't expect them to be delivered until tomorrow.

nan2 having said all that I must admit I have about £90 sitting on a shelf in various denominations as once a week I clear my purse and only keep the notes and ond pound coins. I suppose I ought to take it to the bank really as it has been sitting there for few weeks.

Had a good day today. DH put the lights in the tree outside, I went and had coffee with DD, made a fruit cake and we got the wii out and had a go on that. DH has been told gentle walking,to,help with his leg problems so he did that but I jogged. It’s a good way to exercise without going out and getting cold especially as he has to stop every few minutes to let the pain ease. Hopefully it will help.

Art Group tomorrow, looking forward to,it, as I haven’t been for a few weeks. Enjoy your evening ladies 🌛

Evening ladies, yes my cherubs slept through from 7.30 ish till 8.30 and then I think I disturbed them having a peek, they sleep in my bed and I go in the spare bed, my bed is a lovely bed it’s a spring mattress with a foam topping and I think the twins sleep so well in it. They have cot beds at the moment dil thinks they might not be comfortable so she’s on the hunt for beds like ours as they do wake most nights and need to be settled down I never have that problem with them.
OH isn’t brilliant said he hadn’t felt right since he came home, he did say he wished he could live in the Canaries, but I think it’s ok when your on holiday, and your walking about with no coats, but if we lived out there life wouldn't be like that we would still do the same mundane things really. When the kids went home I insisted we went for a walk, I had read that it does people with depression good to get out in the sunlight and fresh air. We have some locks close by the Leeds and Liverpool canal that merges eventually with the River Aire there are barges that people live on, we met a couple who lived on one he was a wood person making lots of things and were on display for passers by to buy, we had a lovely chat with them they were maybe 60ish, OH came home and had to agree there is life out there we just have to work at it, anyway he has a docs app this week 🙂
Salmon for tea, I know I will be hungry later always am with fish 🙄 any pork left Gem ?
Hope you had a nice lunch Plant I hope I will have the same relationship with my g/c as you have and we can go out for lunches
Mimi bet the house looks lovely and cosy now , wil try and put mine up next weekend 🤥
Oma I know what you mean about not fancying anything , I don’t fancy my salmon but it’s all weve got till I go food shopping tomorrow 🤪

I sent husband into the butchers yesterday on his own so I could look in the new charity shop. He got what I told him to get for the week However I did say to him to get what he wanted for dinner tonight. MISTAKE! I have just taken the beef wellingtons out of the fridge which he fancied and they were.......... £12.95 EACH!!!!! I asked him if he knew how much he had spent in total in there and he didn’t have a clue. When I told him he had spent £26 on meat for today he denied it until I showed him the packaging. I can feed us both for a week for twenty six bruddy quid.

I used to to use my slow cooker a lot but I gave it away. It got very used when the boys were all at home.

My leek and and potato soup turned out well. Still got gazillions of potatoes left though. I got three lots of soup out of it so two in the freezer in pour and store bags and one in the fridge for eating during the week for a light supper with crusty bread. Need to get some creme fraiche to dollop on the top and maybe some chives.

As we didn’t see the children yesterday I am going to ask parents if we can collect them after school tomorrow and take them for early dinner at a local carvery. Means I am going to have to drive back in the dark (I have recently become a wimp) but otherwise we won’t see them until January.

Enfys a friend of mine has that leg problem and was told walking was the best thing. He has always walked a lot, and now can't walk as far as he could, and has to stop at times, but it does help. The wii is a really good idea.
I'm glad the twins slept so well for Grandma, Qwerty
Does your OH have that SAD syndrome? (Seasonally Affective Disorder) If so getting out definitely will help.
I hope you see the children tomorrow Zizi. I am a dark driving wimp also.

Qwerty, pleased the twins well. Hope hubby starts to feel better soon.

Yes Oma,only one pot to clean with the slow cooker. It doesn't much cleaning, as i always use slow cooker liners.

                        Enfys,hope the walking helps hubby.

Hope you get to see the children tomorrow.

Had a lovely lunch with GS, pub very busy, we then came back here to see the family GS1 and his partner were here with baby E. GS's face broke into a smile when I presented him with some mince pies to take home.
Off early to Birmingham with GD1 on the train, we are meeting GS3 (the brother of GS I took to lunch) he is at university there.

Sounds like that is what your OH needs Qwerty to get out more. Hope he feels better soon, it must be heartbreaking to see your partner so sad.

Gem I never used to be. I would drive back rom Colchester or Southampton or Brum or Wolves in the dark with. I problem. Point the car and go. It is just in the last year or so I have felt a bit panicky Of course if we have to go somewhere in he dark I have to drive as he cannot.

Plant have fun in Birmingham, I was supposed to be there this week for work but it got cancelled. Wave to my site for me! I was invited to their Christmas lunch but decided it was too far to go for lunch and I cannot even pretend there is work to be done as nobody EVER works on Christmas lunch day.

Qwerty have been thinking about J . it must be so hard for him and you , but if he's enjoyed being out maybe that's what he needs to do more often get wrapped up and have a little walk around , Being stuck in the house all day when you have that black cloud over you must be sole destroying for you both , the last thing you want is him becoming reluctant to go out at all , poor man I can only imagine his turmoil xx
