Plant and Nan2, you can't taste the Guinness. It's a kind of reduction glaze with the Guinness, honey and muscovado sugar. The pork is roasted with the glaze, not boiled in Guinness!

Plant - I hope baby H is ok. Poor little girl. It's awful when they feel poorly because they can't explain what's wrong and sometimes no matter what you do it doesn't seem to comfort them. xx Your poor DD getting a bad reaction to her booster. One of my sisters in law was saying she had the same sort of reaction as well, and my DIL1 was quite poorly for 24 hours or so. Good to hear your table runner is nearly finished. Will it be ready for use this Christmas? I do hope you GS3 finds someone to share with soon - he must be quite fed up with commuting if he has to travel into London every day. I definitely wouldn't have done the edges of the window frames etc except that they are coated in gritty dust from the work on the garden.
I did some more window cleaning today. Just the dining room to do downstairs now, but I can't get at that until we've built the garden furniture currently stored there waiting for the patio to be finished. It's one of those situation when you can't do one job before another is done, but you can't do that either because of something else that needs doing first! It's driving me mad at the moment! I'll start on upstairs tomorrow - hopefully not as badly affected by the dust.
So besides cleaning windows, I pushed the sucky up thing round downstairs, enjoyed a coffee and chat with my friend, portioned up dog food, finished writing the foreign cards, took Eva for a walk and made dinner.
My friend is supposed to be going up to family up North a few days before Christmas, but all her plans are on hold because her niece, who has long Covid, is very poorly and having to go for lots of tests, her nephew, his wife and children don't know what's going to happen as his wife's parents are abroad seeing their son and now probably can't get back to the UK, and the old school friend she also spends a few days with is worried a close relative may pass on Covid to her.

Good morning all.
I have stamps coming in this morning's Sainsbury's order Nan2, then I can get the rest of the cards stamped and into the post. I heard there is another storm on the way.
Oma, I'm glad your Storm enjoyed his first bus ride
Plant I hope baby H is better this morning, and your DD too. I have heard of several people who had reactions to the booster, most if not all had the Moderna as far as I can tell.
Oh dear, that's all a bit of a problem for your friend's family Daisy.
I will put the pork with Guinness recipe on the recipe section later. It is really nice.
Sainsbury's delivery between 8.30 and 9.30, reflexology at 11. Quiz tonight, my turn to set it, which I must do this afternoon.
We may put the Christmas tree up today.
Happy Monday dear ladies.βA grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.β β Unknown

Late up again, I canβt cope with these dark mornings, I donβt go to bed much before 11 p.m. and then I listen to a story so no wonder really. I am expecting to go down to GD1βs she was not very well yesterday as well as baby H. I canβt do much just company and helping with baby H. Baby H is such a sweetheart, she still smiles although she must be feeling rotten.
That pork dish did sound good Gemini, I bet it was tasty. Canβt even think about putting tree up, it will get done, perhaps next week.
Well done Storm on his first bus ride, he is such a good boy.
Nanto, I hope your OH can mend his fatherβs shower, they must be expensive to fit a new one.
Daisy, GS3 works from home, only goes up to London to the office very occasionally. He would like to live in London but needs someone to share with. He could do his job anywhere, he works, as does my GS1, for an American company and the employees work all over the world. One of the employees has just moved to the Seychelles. Strange world we live in.

Good Monday morning everyone.
Plant - I'm the same with these dark mornings. I didn't wake up till 9.30! I'm sure GD will be very glad of your support and help with baby H. I hope they both feel better soon. I can understand your GS3 wanting to spend some time in London. It must feel rather quiet for him after being at uni in Birmingham. It's amazing how people can work anywhere these day - and the Seychelles sounds one of the better options to me!
Gem - the pork and Guinness recipe sounds great. Many thanks for sharing it. You've got quite a busy day, but at lest you're getting jobs done. It must be fun compiling the quiz.
Nanto - hopefully it's nothing major wrong with your FIL's shower.
Oma - how frustrating not being able to get through to the surgery, but unfortunately it seems to be the norm at the moment. Storm is such a good boy. He'll be asking for outings on the bus now! We've taken Eva on public transport when we've been away with the caravan, even on a steam train. She's quite happy - even happier if someone will make a fuss of her, as they usually do!
I'll get my overseas cards in the post today - just need to write a birthday card to OH's sister in America.

Plant, we may well not get the tree up today
.GD and GS2 are staying overnight on Friday and I wanted it up by then. I have a full busy week so trying to find a slot before then! I don't really feel ready to put it up to be honest πβA grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.β β Unknown

Good morning. Everything is lovely here, just about to go into the hot tub! The internet is very hit and miss, so Iβm taking the chance to catch up with things. There was a problem but fingers crossed itβs sorted now.
its lovely us all being together, poo GS is on crutches after taking a nasty fall whilst playing football last week. So heβs hobbling around, his ankle is still, swollen and badly bruised, luckily heβs went to A&E and itβs not broken. His girlfriend is being nurse , π
The others might pop out at some time but Iβm not bothered, Iβm happy to relax here. My knee and hip is playing up so I canβt go far at the moment.
Ill hopefully pop back during the week, internet permitting, have a good week everyone."Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss

Afternoon all.
Hope I find everyone well.
Over the weekend we put up our Christmas decorations and although I wasn't too sure how our tall slim Christmas tree would look like I am pleased with it.
Yesterday DIL arrived with a festivefront door 'spray ' which she hand made herself. It's beautiful, it has little wooden gifts and dried oranges and cinnamon rolls on it and the top of the spray has a silver bow. It's now hanging on our front door.
Our wooden Rudolph, solar lawn edging Christmas trees and solar small Santa π are out side in the back garden where I can see them from the kitchen window.
Oma our surgery sounds just like yours.
Speaking to my friend who used to be a drs receptionist, she said a lady would come in, make an appointment but several minutes later she would cancel it. This was a regular issue with her so the next time she came in my friend asked her if she was nervous about seeing a dr and she said she had ' womans problems ' and wasn't comfortable speaking about it. My friend suggested she wite down her problems on paper and hand it to the Dr to read.
She did this only for the dr to push the unread paper back to the patient saying ' This isn't Tesco, don't hand pieces of paper to me "
All those years of medical training obviously didn't touch on compassion and concern with any sort of physical or mental health issues.Bring me sunshine in your smile.
