WG, yes, the mosquitoes, my sister had to go to the hospital once when she was here, she was covered in the bites and had an allergic reaction. Our health system is good, we pay for it but it is worth it, I go to the dentist etc with no extra costs, IF I need an hearing aid or whatever all the costs will be covered. I have been to my neighbour to show her my leg and she has put one of her special creams on and it is already less painful.

Lizzie - your health care seems a lot more accessible and patient-friendly than ours does at the moment. I hope the bite soon goes down - it must be very painful. Locally where I live we get a horrible pest called the Blandford fly. They are bloodsuckers and can leave really horrible bites behind them. They seem to be spreading all over the country, as well.

WeeGranny - that's a long time to wait for just a telephone appointment. I think a lot of the NHS problems seem to be administrative. GD1's parents should have had a telephone appointment with her consultant 3 weeks before they next see the consultant. It's been booked for 3 weeks after!! I've just made an appointment for a routine blood test on Friday. The recorded message said to have your hospital number ready, but this is via the GP, so did they want my NHS number or my NI number? And why, oh why, can't I have just one number, say NI, to cover everything. When I got through to an "agent" (?) she was lovely and we had quite a chat because her mum's birthday was the same day as mine! And I could choose which day and when I'd like the appointment.

I can't see any prospect of ever doing Fair Isle patterns. I knitted a small heart shape today and struggled over Mk1 K1 to start with!! GD1 is still doing her scrunchie, but they are quite long rows and we keep stopping to chat. We can't do both!

Today was lovely weatherwise until 7pm. It came dark then started raining.

Daisy, hope GD feels better soon, bless her.

Got the pancakes made for the freezer. Hubby enjoyed his requested dinner.
About ยผ -4 we had a walk down to the bungalow. Sat in the garden chatting and drinking tea.

Welcome Lizzie. Horse fly bites are very painful .
I'm glad you got the appointment rearranged.

Daisy that sounds a nice time with your GD.

My library morning began in a very hectic way. No staff when I arrived at 10 am, opening time. The manager of the building had no idea why and kept trying to contact the librarian.
Four people came in during the first few minutes. In itself this is nothing I can't handle as people generally check their own books in and out via the machine and would only come to us with a query or to ask for help in finding a book.
Unfortunately the machine was switched off and I had no idea how to switch it on.
So, I had to write down the customers names, library card numbers and titles of books returned and borrowed. One lady was a home delivery lady so had the books of several people!!
Everyone was very understanding and patient when I explained.
At 10.30 one librarian arrived, not late, she thought that was the time she was starting. The other arrived at 1, as she expected to
They were so apologetic and grateful, but I never got to the bottom of why that first half hour wasn't covered by staff!!

I met the guinea pigs today. Very cute.

We are off to Ironbridge tomorrow, back Friday. I will still be posting though

              Good morning to all.

Ironing, what a fun activity Nan2! Must be done though I know.

The sun is shining and we are being picked up around 10 (Far too early in my book but I was outnumbered!) It is a two day break in a hotel with spa. Our friends saw the deal and suggested the four of us go.

              Happy Wednesday everyone.

Good morning, yes Oma, the bite is healing, I can still feel it but nothing like it was last night, in fact, as soon as neighbour put the cream on it started feeling better! I am lucky with a neighbour like that!!

Yes Gem, it would be more work at the library, luckily you managed.

The sun it out and my washing is drying, I want to go on the bike to Zoetermeer to a friends birthday, it is a nice ride through the woods and not far.

Gem, enjoy your mini break, it will be a very early start for you!xx Is it Shropshire where you are going?

I have never heard of those flies Daisy, please keep them in the UK, we have enough nasty things here to put up with! Daisy, we have one number to cover everything, tax, hospital insurance etc etc. It is handy really.

Good morning everyone. After some heavy rain last night, it's brightening up here. Dog training for me and Eva this afternoon and OH has to go up to Winchester to collect from bits for something or other (you can tell I didn't really understand what he was on about!)

Lizzie - if sounds as though your neighbour has some magic potions that really help.

Nanto - take a break from the ironing and enjoy the sunshine.

Gem - you definitely saved the day at the library yesterday. I suppose these glitches happen, but you did well to keep everybody happy. I hope the guinea pigs are settling down in their furever home. Enjoy your break in Ironbridge. Some beautiful countryside around Shropshire, but the spa hotel sounds a good attraction too. Safe journey.

Oma - oh dear, IKEA! So are you kicking and B screaming? Don't forget the napkins!

Have a good day, everyone, and enjoy the sunshine if it comes your way.

Lizzie - our posts crossed. Glad to hear the magic potion is helping with the bite. Enjoy your ride to your friend's today. It's always nice to celebrate birthdays.

The one number system sounds sensible and logical. Our systems are a real dog's dinner!

I must admit I wasnโ€™t expecting to like it but I did even though the end was a bit sad .
