Safely home now. We had a lovely restful time. Lovely to have warm sunshine and longer days. It stays light till about 6pm which makes our winter just a little shorter. Who knows when we’ll get back, but we felt perfectly safe. The new law just introduced making face masks compulsory in public if you cannot socially distance works well. So if you are walking in a town you mask up, but on the beach or where there are no people you don’t need to. I think we should do that here!

Oma - thanks for the tips on making the ginger in syrup. I will have a go!
Plant - Christmas pudding is the one thing I always buy - I couldn't make them any better myself. I do make a Christmas cake, mincemeat, mince pies and a Yule log though.
Mimi - what an exciting end to your walk. I'm sure OH was just trying to keep you entertained to prevent Lockdown Boredom. Your mum was a very busy, multi-talented lady. She must have been on the go all day, every day.
Gem - I think a lot of children thought their home-made clothes were in some way less good than shop-bought, now we value individual, hand-made things much more.
Grauntie - the constant fireworks are a nightmare for our pets and other animals. We start trying to prepare Eva from about 4 o'clock - feed her early, get her to 'go' in the garden (failed on that one tonight!), Rescue Remedy with dinner, thunder coat, all doors and curtains closed, tv on loud, washing machine running - none of it works. The poor dog just shakes like a leaf for hours. I hope your neighbour's kitty finds her way home unharmed.

Good morning, dull here at the moment and a bit misty. But it doesn’t feel cold so that’s good.
More fireworks around here last night but nowhere near as many as usual. Poor Eva, Daisy...I do feel so sorry for all the animals (and humans) who don’t like all the bangs and crashes. Dexter sits in the conservatory and watches them through the window and neither of DDs cats seem to mind them either but she obviously makes sure they’re both indoors. They sleep through it all.
No plans for today but I might do some baking, if I’ve got enough flour! Have a good day everyone 🌞"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." - Dr Seuss

Good morning Nanto, Enfys and all who pop in later.
It's the same here, Enfys - dull and uninspiring. Well done, Dexter - you're a brave boy. I wish he could explain to Eva that she's safe indoors!
I've got plenty to do around the house but haven't got much enthusiasm. We'll see how it goes. I don't suppose I'll be able to do any gardening though.

Avo - I'm sorry I didn't see your post which crossed with mine last night. Welcome home. Do you feel better for your short break? It's lovely to escape the November gloom even for a short while. At least it's a bit milder here today than it was while you were in Portugal.
Oma - did you sleep better last night?"Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognise how good things really are. "

Good morning ladies.
Another foggy one here.
Avo, I'm glad you got your break in Portugal. I bet it did you good and recharged your batteries a bit.
Daisy, let's hope that is the last night of fireworks. Poor Eva. Here it has been every night from Thursday, and we did hear some on Halloween, which was the previous Saturday.
Today I must compile a quiz, as it's my turn to host the Monday night one. I need to get out and walk too, at least a little. All my aches and pains are much worse when I am mostly indoors which I have been this week. Foggy dull days don't inspire me to get out though!
I made our Christmas cake yesterday, which must be the earliest I have made it. Just the decorating to do now in a few weeks time.

Daisy no I was awake a lot got up at 4.30 couldn't get comfy , its more painful when I lie down but thank you for asking ,
By the way B said put the fresh ginger in the freezer overnight it helps to tenderise it and simmer in water till its soft before going in the syrup and use that water to go in with the sugar to make the syrup , it has all the flavour .
He said there is a good recipe on BBC food site
Gem I bet your house smells amazing , I could sit on your doorstep and smell that all dayIm not fat just 6ft too small

Oma, please say thanks to B for me. Yours looks delicious - I've a lot to live up to!! My DIL1 always keep fresh ginger in the freezer and just grates off what she needs each time. Can you sleep more or less sitting up - would that help?
Gem - did you manage to get out for a walk?
Enfys have you done any baking?

My Christmas pudding have been on the boil for some hours, will take them off when I get my dinner. Just had a phone call from DS, inviting me to go to Cornwall, they have booked a house to celebrate his 60th, which is on the 8th December. He has friends going down for 4 days and GS4 his partner and GS3 are going down for the last few days. I will travel down with the GS's. Of course we are in the hands of the lockdown being lifted.
There are still fireworks going off this evening, quite large bangs. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Plant - what a lovely surprise (hopefully) having a trip to Cornwall. I know you've missed going away this year. I do hope it all goes ahead and the weather is kind to you. Something to look forward to during the next few weeks.
We haven't had any fireworks close by this evening, thank goodness. I'd given Eva Rescue Remedy just in case, so she's had a rather sleepy evening, but better than another night of terrors.
Oma - you must have needed that sleep - I hope the spare bed does the trick tonight. xx
Gem - glad you got your walk. Did you find any interesting questions for your Quiz?
