    Morning all.
The plumber is coming this afternoon to install our new shower.

By heck it’s cold outside, do take care if you are out and about.

Plant hope by now you have had your your phone call from the doctor. Your poor gD , that’s a lot of times to have tonsillitis in a year . Will they be removed at any stage do you think, I know years ago it was common practice to whip them out at a blink of an eye. I had mine removed when I was 6 as I used to get tonsillitis on a regular basis.

There do seem to be a lot of coughs and colds about. DIL came by yesterday and she said they have all been unwell since Christmas, they just seem to pass gems from one to another. I just hope she hasn’t brought the dreaded lurgy up to myself and OH .

Enfys buying new new glasses is very expensive isn’t it so it’s good you didn’t need to have any this time.
Has anyone brought their glasses online . I have seen the ads for them but I do wonder how you get an exact fit , after all it’s not like buying some trousers that are too long and you can get the needle and thread out and take them up ?

Have a a good day everyone
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Dr. Phoned and talked to her father, apparently in their records she has only 2 recorded occasions when she was treated for tonsillitis, whereas we know she has had five in the past year. I have mentioned to her father that I am willing to pay for her to have it done at our local private BMI hospital, he was working from home so unable to discuss it further. She is 26 so I feel it is between my GD and myself but certainly not going to rock the boat.

Hope your GD2 will be well enough to enjoy her party Daisy.

Plant something has to be done for the poor girl , I hope you can pay for it to be done private then she doesn't have to suffer anymore .

Decided as its sunny and B took the rubbish to the tip I would clear all the leaves that have collected in the alley way and down by the shed , I got a huge bin bag full ,
Back breaking work as it is without a very enthusiastic lump of a dog trying to get into the pile I had brushed up and scattering them again
In the end I had to put him in the garden and shut the gate , we have a gate at each end of the alley way for safety they are both always locked so he cant get out but I left the one in the garden open and he thought it was great fun running up and down the alley way after the brush and leaves ,

I then hosed everything down and he decided that was great fun too trying to get the water coming out of the hose

Reminder to myself don't clear up or try to
        when we have the dog

Daisy hope GD is well enough for her party she will be so looking forward to it , How is J now ?

It might be lovely sunshine out but its cold my fingers are just starting to warm up again

Im not fat just 6ft too small

Daisy, i do hope GD will be well enough for her party.

Plant, i know doctors don't like taking tonsils out in older patients, but your GD has suffered enough.

We didn't have any frost this morning.A cool breeze is blowing but the sun is shining.

Mimi, hope the plumbing goes well.

Both of us enjoyed our dinner.Braising steak is always tasty when done in the slow cooker.

            Hi everyone.
We are back from a lovely fine sunny day at the seaside We went to Filey. No beach walk as the tide was well and truly in! We did a lot of walking though (thank goodness my knee is having a Good Day!) and had a sandwich and tea in a cafe. Not many places open on a January Monday, but this was very nice. Our usual fish and chip place only opens Friday and weekends in winter, which saved us a few calories. We took a few pics which I will post on FB later.

Plant I suffered a lot from tonsillitis in my teens and 20s's. You feel so very poorly, people who think it is just a sore throat have no idea. Your poor GD. I was like her and seemed to get bout after bout. Once mine settled down it has, fingers crossed, not recurred for many decades now. I think the operation is not so nice as an adult, so they avoid it if they can. It is very kind of you to offer to pay.
Daisy, I hope GD managed her first day back day school.
            Dinner sounds good Nan2.
Oma, clearing up with a dog around sounds a thankless task

Thanks for that Gemini, I did hope this would happen but I hate to see her so poorly.

Oma sounds as if Storm had a nice time helping!

Plant, your poor GD. I was like Gem, had it so often in my teens and early twenties. The last time I had it DS was a baby and I was so bad the doctor actually came out to see me. She said if I had it again they would have to come out. But I have never had it since! Almost like I willed it away. Poor girl, I hope she can get it sorted out, I know the ops not nice, but so is feeling so Ill so often.

We had a relaxing day at home today, washing done, a few chores out of the way. It was a lovely sunny day but very cold out but washing dried.

I found out who left the mystery mince pies at Christmas....it was our neighbour. Saw him in his garden so popped in to have a chat and it was him! He said he rang the bell but we obviously didn’t hear it, if We’re upstairs we don’t always. So that mystery is solved. He works at Bookers, a local warehouse/ retail place and they had surplus so he had a few boxes. He took quite a few to our local Macmillan unit which was kind, they were very grateful.

Oma, fun and games with Storm 🙂.

Gem, how lovely to go to Filey. We used to go a lot when the kids were little.
Not been for many years now.

Gem, what a lovely day out, although it's a pity about the fish and chips. Lovely steaming hot F & Cs sitting on the prom on a cold but sunny day would be fantastic. They'd smell and taste wonderful! But, as you say, you saved a few squillion calories.

Mimi - is your new shower up and running (literally)? I hope it's just what you wanted. Did kitty make a fuss of the plumber?

Plant - how is your poorly GD1? I wonder why some of her bouts of tonsillitis aren't mentioned in her records. I read somewhere that removing them can affect your immune system, and seven bouts of it in a year would be the sort of threshold for removal. I can't remember where I read this, so I don't know how accurate it is. I wonder if something to boost her immune system generally would help? Does she eat a good diet or do you think she might benefit from some vitamin supplements?

Oma, I had to laugh at Storm chasing all the leaves you'd swept up, and then chasing the water from the hose pipe. Eva goes mad for a game with the hose pipe, and if I just want to water plants I have to shut her in the house and then she sits by the back door looking sorrowfully at me, making me feel the meanest dog-mum in the world.

Enfys - the mince pie mystery is solved at last! How kind of your neighbour to share them around. You did well to get washing dried outside today. We get so little sun in the garden in the winter it's not worth even trying - the tumble dryer is my guilty friend.

Qwerty - another mystery! What happened on the way to Whitby-instead-of-Ilkley! I just hope your SIL's super new car is ok.

GD1 enjoyed her first day back at school. When I asked her what was the best bit (usual answer - "playtime") she said working with the teacher one-to-one to catch up with the Maths she'd missed. She was very proud she got them all right, and I think she's got more enthusiasm for Maths than she's ever had. It may not last beyond today, of course. One little friend can't come to her party because her family doesn't "do" birthdays, which puzzled her a bit. I guess they're Jehovah's Witnesses, but not easy to explain to the birthday girl.

When I went to pick up the GDs this afternoon part of the town centre, just round the corner from DS2's shop was closed because of an accident. It's a busy crossroads with a long lights-change cycle and it sounds as though a lady in her 80s stepped off the pavement into the path of a huge delivery vehicle - the sort of thing that has a crane lift for heavy loads. I think she was killed instantly, but it's shocked the whole town. The poor driver must be devastated - he was navigating the tight turn very slowly and carefully.

                          Good morning,it's cold but i don't think it's frosty.

Daisy, that poor lady. If she was killed instantly, maybe it was a small mercy.

Jacket potatoes for dinner today. We will have prawn mayonnaise and reduced fat coleslaw with them.

Just waiting for it to get a bit lighter, then i'm nipping on to the post office, then that errand will be done.

                            Good morning ladies.
I love jacket potatoes Nan2. It's my turn to cook tonight, but I don't know what we will have yet.

Daisy how very sad that is. Several year ago there was a very similar incident in York. A lady in her 80's. Apparently she was regularly dropped in town by a taxi, and collected later. He dropped her close to the side entrance of Marks and Spencer, which is also near the loading bay. A lorry driver delivering backed into her and she was killed instantly

Hard frost this morning, but the sun is starting to appear.
Golf for OH at 10 - brrrrrr!!
I will go to The Range and to the Designer Outlet, and there are a few household tasks which need doing.

Have a good day and keep warm.

Good morning from a cold, foggy Holland! Lovely yesterdayso hope it clears later.

Daisy, what a tragic accident! So sad for all involved, I cycle a lot and always keep well away from those massive wheels!!!!

I had such a busy day yesterday, sport school, coffee, did that on my own as the one I was working with couldn't do it, I can cope though, then swimming, well, fifty fit, I do enjoy that. I was sat relaxing after I had eaten and thought to look at my insurance app, hadn't been updated since last week!!! I couldn't understand it, went down to the car, it is in the garage, blue tooth etc working, hardly slept thinking of a solution, same game this morning, removed the app and downloaded it again and again! I phoned them at 9am, no problem, they are busy with the new app and it should be all settled today, they could have let me know!!! It has been updated now so all that worry for nothing! I do worry about some stupid things!

It is getting brighter so could get to the library, I have to wait anyway as my new passport arrives today and I have to sign for it.

                              Gem, pleased you enjoyed Filey.

If I know how I will start a new post, the question is, What do you all think of the smart motorways?

How tragic Daisy, poor lorry driver and her family of course. I bet your GD is getting excited.

How frustrating Lizzie, they could have let you know.

Jacket potatoes are one of my favourites but they must have crisp skins.

Enfys, pleased that mystery is solved, very kind of him to think you would like some.

Mimi, how is the new shower?

GD came in and she looks awful although she is talking much better, she fancied some cocopops but I was not dressed to fetch some for her. Her mother is going to take her to the doctors tomorrow (her day off) and have a talk with them, I am not hopeful she will get anywhere. GD is so tired, she is not sleeping as she also has a cough keeping her awake.
