Good morning Nan2, nice graphic. Hello everyone else.
Where I am is is a dull and damp morning.
Daisy, I bet its nice to wake up to such a pristine bedroom!
DD2 told me last night that GS2 told her that S and P brought Grandma a GOLDEN CAR!! It's silver actually, but obviously impressed him!
Today I will go to see my mum and show her my new car. I want to sort out her pantry while I'm there today. I am going to count how many tins are in there, as I know there are loads and she often asks me to bring a couple with her weekly shop!! I will make an inventory. Before Christmas I had quick look in there and threw way 2 packs of Tesco Finest cheese scones, dated April and July last year. I need to spend some time in there!!
Have a good Sunday everyone.

Good morning from me early birds and later arrivals.
Nanto - what a striking graphic. Your OH had a full day yesterday. Did he get the GTech fixed?
Oma - poor you. I hope you take it easy today (although it doesn't sound as though you are) and get rid of that headache. xx Hopefully B's fresh bread will help. xx
Gem - yes, I looked round the bedroom, and apart from the rumpled bed it looked ok. Oh dear, it sounds as though your Mum's pantry needs a bit of re-organising. I don't keep a huge stock of tins, but it's often hard to see which one is due for using so I've started writing the expiry year on the top of the lid with a permanent marker. It's then easy to see which tin of beans or whatever to grab.
My thoughts are with Glamm. I'm sure tomorrow will be incredibly painful for her.
Also thinking about Clover and G and WeeGranny and her OH. They're all strong ladies, like Enfys and Libra Gran, but it's still so hard when our loved ones are ill. xxx
It's a beautiful sunny morning here, but still far to wet to get out in the garden. I think even more rain is forecast for later.

Good morning all, contrary to weather reports for this neck of the woods , it’s quite cold outside, Alexa told me it would be mild but when I went for my morning walk my eyes were running from the cold wind !
Plumber number 3 arrived yesterday and our cat hid from him also, it was only plumber number 2 who she approved of. OH says we should be guided by here but I think we need to take on board the quotes we get .
We are having roast chicken with all the trimmings for lunch today and as it’s a biggish chicken we could be eating chicken based meals for a few days to come !
Daisy , you are right we do indeed have some very strong ladies on here, going through such difficult times. My thoughts are with each and everyone of them . I often thing of them during the day, wondering where on earth they get the strength to carry on . They have my deepest admiration.
Oma that bread sounds amazing, will he notice if I pop by and cut a slice or two?
Gem I don’t take any notice of best before dates in my cupboard but even I would draw the line where those scones are concerned. You could have used them to build a rockery in the garden !
Have a good day ladiesBring me sunshine in your smile.

As others have mentioned, I shall be thinking of Glamm and her family tomorrow. Hugs to our other friends who have worries about their OH's and Libra's DD.
Had a nice lunch out yesterday with Sil, DD and Sil's mother. Sil had bought his mother a wheelchair so tried that out. Her live-in carer had only arrived that morning and was settling in when Sil picked his mother up, she wasn't very happy having a perfect stranger in her house and I wonder how things are working out, she has 3 sons and 1 DD living quite close so they will all keep an eye on things. GS3 arrived and joined the family, he is a lovely young man and so kind to me, I hope he gets his Masters degree. He is on his way back to B'ham now.
Oma, I am hopeless at making bread by hand, that loaf sounds lovely, I can smell it from here. Hope the headache doesn't develop into a migraine.
Very exciting day for you Gemini, hope your mother is impressed.
I think your cat knows best Mimi. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Yum Oma!
I must bring my breadmaker out of hibernation, I have been lazy recently.
I can understand how your friend must feel Plant, I know my mum would hate that. I wonder why they have oped for that option instead of carers calling a few times a day, especially as she has family close by?
Mimi, there was no way anyone was eating those scones I wonder what else I will uncover today?
At last the rain has stopped. Our friends return from 9 days in Dubai today. I expect they will notice a difference, especially the one who was in Australia for 2 weeks prior to that!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Gemini, Sil's mother has had two carers a day for some time but her neighbours, no other houses close, are away for a month, so they decided to arrange this from the same agency just for a month. the other option was to go into respite care.
Those rolls look very tasty. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare

Well the new Cupboard in the bathroom is up and looks very nice ,
I was afraid it wouldn't fit as its a small narrow space behind the door but its gone in well ,
Slightly deeper than the original one so a bit giggling around , it has covered the shaver socket where I plug the toothbrush in , so B just drilled out a hole in the side so the plug fits through , job done
Had to take my Towel rail down over the door as it has Crystal knobs on the end and they were banging on the unit stopping the door fully opening , but again I have a circular rail around the hand basin so the towels have been hung on that , surprising what you can manage in a tiny shower room,
It actually holds three times more than my old one although not much bigger , im happy with it much to B's relief

Oma, pleased for B's sake you are happy with the cupboard.
Bread rolls look nice.
Daisy, hubby did get the Gtech working, and its back with one happy owner.
Gem, hope you get mums pantry sorted. We used to have one, until hubby knocked it down.
He did some alterations in the kitchen,so it had to go. Used to be able to get loads of stuff in.
Plant, i understand about SIL's mum feeling about having a stranger in the house.
My in laws would be the same.Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

I have sorted the pantry!
I threw away a large charity bag full of stuff, plus some empty cardboard boxes and plastic bottles for recycling. The tins, of which there were many, were OK, but a few other packet things were out of date and opened jars gone off. The oldest being pack of sponge cake mix dated 20o9.
Now it is tidy and Mum can see what she has.
More worryingly, from the fridge I threw away several sausage rolls from a packet dated best before December 24th, an open jar of meat paste with mould on, the end of her Christmas pork pie, all dried out, and some black pudding I brought her from the reduced fridge in Tesco, weeks ago to be eaten that day or the next!“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Gem just as well you sorted through it then . Sometimes they just don't bother looking at stuff. I remember some years ago my sister asked if I would give a hand clearing out a very large old fashioned pantry they had as they wanted to use it for something else. We found bottles of Medicine that she had for my oldest niece from 1967 it was tucked at the back of a deep top shelf she never looked atIm not fat just 6ft too small

Mimi - don't listen to Alexa. Do listen to kitty!! I'm the same, I often think about the ladies we've mentioned and wonder how they cope day in day out. Aggie doesn't say much but I also wonder how she is after losing her OH not that long ago.
Plant - it sounds sensible to have someone with your SIL's mother while the neighbours are away. I'm sure everybody would worry in case she had another fall. Plant - I'm quite sure your lovely GS3 will sail through his Masters. He's such a fantastic grandson, isn't he.
Oma - those baps look mouthwatering. By the way - when I say 'best butter' people look at me oddly!! I'm glad your new cupboard fitted even though it took a bit of lateral thinking on B's part. It sounds a good use of the space.
Gem, well done on getting your mum's pantry and fridge sorted. I usually leave anything no longer edible in the fridge until bins day so it's not sitting in the black bag getting even more whiskery and smelly! I'm not fanatical about 'use by' dates - if it looks and smells ok, it probably is, but 11 year old cake mix would be a bit dodgy! Did she like your new car?
I seem to have been busy all day, but not much to show for it! We've got some little open shelves in our kitchen which are the bane of my life, but today I cleaned them all, including the little fiddly bits round the edge, and washed the various bits that stand on them. Prepped a load of dog food for next week, did several loads of washing, and cooked a banquet for dinner. (I lie - it was a pork chop recipe I haven't made for years!)
