Sorry I did't get back on here yesterday, I read the posts and then had a phone call from DD, they were at GS1's visiting and suggested I joined them for lunch in a local pub. They brought GGS and when we took him back we stayed and had some GGD cuddles. GD2 is home for the weekend so she wanted to see the young ones.

So sorry Clover to hear G is having problems finding his way back to bed, I hope his head wasn't too badly cut. Would you consider some respite care so you can get some sleep and catch up on the things you need to do without looking out for G.

That doggie party sounded fun, pictures were good, the tea looked amazing Oma.

Elf is a lovely film Gemini, pleased your GS1 enjoyed his sleep-over. Magical time for him nearing Christmas.

Enfys, whatever next, I think you have had your share. I hope the sinus infection clears soon, perhaps you need to see doctor.

Daisy, there were some heathers already in the urn which I left after removing the fuchsias. I have added polyanthus, they should look colourful in the Spring. I found I didn't have enough so I am going out when I am dressed to get some more. I was frozen when I had finished and had to warm my hands in some warm water. This afternoon I am going to the church to see the Christmas trees. All the groups in the village, including the playgroups decorate a small Christmas tree and they are arranged around the church. We have one (WI) which I have helped to decorate.

I hope you all have some sunshine. Hugs to all the poorly ones

Good morning everyone. The Daisy household slept in until 9.30 this morning. So much for an early start. But the sun's shining and although it's chilly there's no frost about.

Enfys - it sounds as though you should see the doctor about your sinuses. If you've got sinusitis the sooner they're treated the better. My OH has been to a chiropractor. They insisted he went three times a week at first then gradually down to once a week, but it was ridiculously expensive and after an initial slight improvement he felt he was just wasting his money. I go to an osteopath occasionally (less often than I used to) who tweaks my back after a gentle massage. It's generally worse the next day for after that much better. I think the main thing is to find someone you have confidence in. Hopefully it will be nice enough to do a bit of gardening.

Nanto - what a pretty graphic - it makes me thing of Spring.

Gem - we got those lights years ago because the main light switch for the landing is at the top of the stairs. Not very safe. If you haven't got a socket you can get ones that fit into ceiling lights. You can switch them on and off as normal, but can also set the motion sensor. Enjoy your pub lunch - I love lunch at a nice country pub too, especially if we can have a walk in the Forest first. I hope your DD's had a lovely time.

With having such a late start I think we'll have to change our plans a bit. I'm just off for a shower and then I think it will be walkies time - it gets colder just after lunch these days. We've got friends visiting for lunch next Sunday. They live in France so we don't see them as often as we'd like, so I'm going to prepare ahead and freeze so I don't have to spend too long in the kitchen. I'll make an apple pie today, and perhaps some mince pies.

I hope everyone is getting some lovely sunshine. Have a good day.

        Good morning all.
I’ve been a busy be this morning. Bed stripped and changed, bedding washed and on the line outside in the sunshine. Windows cleaned, ( inside and out ) , chicken casserole cooking in the oven and our wooden Rudolph is sitting on the patio with Christmas baubles dangling from her antlers !

Enfys dad suffered terribly with with his sinuses for many years ,it can be very uncomfortable and as Daisy has said perhaps you should see your Dr.

Clover, those lights that plug into the wall socket that Daisy suggested sound like a good idea. On another thought have you looked at at an online help group that could have lots of tips to help with your every situation with OH . If you can have as much support as possible it might just make coping a little easier.
How is his head this morning

Have a a good day everyone

          Afternoon

Thanks for the suggestions re OH. I’ve put a low light in our bedroom to guide him back to the right room but I will get a sensor light as well.I don’t think respite car is an option at the moment Someone I was speaking to the other day said it’s taken her 7 months to get one day a week for her OH in a Day centre. I think really the problem is I’m lonely and don’t have anyone to chat to face to face to stop me dwelling on the incidents that upset me, day to day.

Anyway enough of me ,everyone has their problems.

It’s sunny but very cold today. People passing by are well wrapped up.

Oma the doggy party sounds a lot of noisy fun.

Enfys I’m sorry you had a rotten night. Have you tried Olbas oil in a bowl of steaming water for your sinuses?

Hope everyone else is fine and has a good day.

            Afternoon ladies ,

Clover many years ago I drove for Social services and would pick a gentleman up to take to a unit one day a week , this man was only 45 when he had was diagnosed poor man ,
That day once a week was a blessing for his wife , she would go to the support group and found it a great help talking to others voicing her fears and frustrations , not for everyone but its worth thinking about , plus you get good tips from other carers xx

Enfys Sinus trouble is very painful I think , you may need a decongestant to ease that horrible bunged up feeling xx

Mimi I bet Rudolph looks very fetching with Baubles dangling

Plant the trees sound good especially the play group ones enjoy your day xx

Daisy getting a head start with the cooking sound like a plan give Eva a hug from us xxx Oh and you and J too hahaha

Gem GS1 is a good boy isn't he . enjoy your lunch will it be a festive one ? xx

Tree and Decs up im tired now , like to see them but hate the process of it all it takes so long

Have a good day ladies xxx

Oma, well done for getting the tree and decorations done.
A bit early for me. if we had them up now,i would be ready for them coming down next week.

Had plenty of sunshine today, but turning cooler now.
It always does at this time though in winter.

Hubby just gone to help a neighbour get a bed upstairs.
Thats his good deed for today.

Can't believe it, we've just been and bought a real Christmas tree. Went to get some new secateurs and there were trees in garden centre, but really expensive. So we decided to have a look at a farm which has a barn full of them. OH picked out one and said why didn't we get it as we've not had a tree up for a few years! So back we came with it. It's now sitting outside and I'll bring it in later in the week when I've found the decorations!

Sorry, meant also to say hope your sinuses are less painful Enfys.

Clover,I'm sorry that you're having broken nights and more worry with OH. Perhaps you should start making enquiries about respite care now if it takes that long for something to be put in place. Are you going to family for Christmas or are they coming to you? The Daily Telegraph has, as one of their charities this year a charity called Silver Line which puts people in touch with others by phone. They have a phone buddy who calls every week. Maybe something like that could be helpful to you.

I can't begin to imagine what your doggy party was like Oma !

Gem I hope you're feeling easier and not doing too much exercising! Do what I did and give them a couple of weeks and contact them and say the exercises aren't helping. You may get another kinder physio and exercises which will help rather than hinder you're recovery.

Have a good evening everyone and keep warm in this cold spell xx

Wee Granny - I love your bright cheery new avatar. Wow - a real Christmas tree. I love the smell of a real tree, but we've only had one once, many years ago. All the needles fell of within a couple of days and we spend ages getting them out of the carpet, to say nothing of the dog's paws. I haven't yet been able to persuade OH to change his mind!

Nanto - I hope your OH didn't hurt his back or anything heaving a bed upstairs. But I'm sure the neighbours were grateful.

Oma - Eva enjoyed the cuddle - thank you! She's such a soppy dog. She had a great time in the paddock with Cooper today. They ran round like loonies and we thought she'd be tired, but she doesn't seem to be!

Enfys - how are you? xx

Clover - I agree with Wee Granny. It's better to keep your options open, and help/respite is something everyone needs when they're a full-time carer. My MIL was lucky that she had several family options for help, but it was still lonely and exhausting for her, and worse in the winter when she couldn't get out in the garden so much.

Plant - you ended up having a busy family day yesterday. I'm glad you got some cuddle time with little GGD. I bet she's gorgeous.

Gem - I hope you all enjoyed your country pub lunch. Are you exhausted after your busy week-end? I hope your knee's ok and you've not overdone things. xx Has DD got back home safely?

As often happens I didn't get everything done that I'd hoped to, but we stayed out with Eva longer than planned - it was a cold wind, but nice to get out in the fresh air, then I spent ages getting something online that OH wanted. For some reason the website in question didn't work for him, but we got there in the end, then I had to do the dog food order - their website was down last night when I tried to do it. A quick sandwich for lunch and then when I sat down with a cup of tea, Eva decided she needed a proper cuddle. Every time I tried to move she snuggled in closer, and to be honest, it was a good excuse for a little rest. Still, I cooked apples ready for making an apple tart tomorrow, cooked dinner and made bread. I need an early night now!

The trees in the church were lovely, they give you a slip to choose the one you like best. The lady on the door was a member of the evening WI and gave me a slip to vote. I told her I would not be voting as how can you judge a playgroup tree with a adult group one, she didn't seem to see the point. Of course the evening WI was amazing but I still didn't vote. This post was interrupted by a call from my son letting me know that GS4 was on his way to show me his new car. He arrived with GF and stayed for a cuppa and a chat. So pleased they still want to come and see me. He is the younger brother of the GS who charmed you all in Birmingham. Night night

Plant, you were right about the voting for the tree.

I need to call in the post office on the way. Pkage to send to friend in Australia.

Good morning all. It looks very cold outside.

Not it sure what I am doing today. I will wait and see what the day throws at me. OH suggested we go into town but I am still waiting for two parcels to be delivered and I don’t want to miss a delivery.

I will pop by later to see if you are all behaving yourselves.

                            Good chilly December morning all!

WG, real trees are lovely. This will be be the first year in my adult life without one. I really I hope I don't regret it!
Daisy, I'm glad Eva is forcing you to rest!
                            Plant, the village where DD2
lives has an annual Christmas tree competition like yours, in the church. We have been to see them a few times.
How lovely to have an unexpected visit from your GS!

It was a nice weekend. GS1 was no trouble at all, and in fact wasn't here long as he had to be off with mummy and daddy just after 10.30.
Lunch yesterday with SIL and the GC was lovely. We went back to theirs for coffee. When GS2 heard we were going back with them he was beyond excited 😊
He was on good form , happy, very active and kept us all amused. So nice to see him fully well again.
DD was due back around 9.30 last night.

Today we are going out for lunch with a group of OH's golf friends. They do this every year. Last year I didn't go as it coincided with meeting up with the lovely northern grannies. This year I made sure I could do both!
This morning we are going to get the Christmas boxes down from the loft. I need the wrapping one down, so we decided to get them all down and put them in the spare room until we're ready for them.

                            Have a good day everyone.

Nothing special today as usual just general chores.

Glad everyone seems to have had a good weekend.
