Gem, I have a guilty secret. When I'm feeling too tired to do anything I enjoy burying myself in a book. It's not something I have a lot of time to do normally, so I'm making the most of it.

Plant, what a pity your cleaner has postponed until Monday, but at least she does a good job - that's the main thing. Sending good luck wishes to your GD1 for her interview tomorrow. It's very difficult to get jobs that fit in with school term times, so I hope this one works out for her.

Oma, your MIL would certainly give Jekyll and Hyde a run for their money. She was lucky your SIL didn't just put the phone down on her. I don't think we can ever reconcile ourselves to our dogs' preferences for dirty, smelly, well chewed toys! Eva does at least leave the squeakies in them, though. It's usually us taking them out because she makes such a noise with them.

Nanto, having a different sort of mash lifts an ordinary meal into something more interesting.

I didn't really feel like it but I managed to cut the lawn and trim the edges this afternoon. OH weeded and dead headed in the front garden, but came in with an aching back and neck. He was ok after a hot shower, though, and he's gone to wood turning club tonight. It was a lovely sunny day and tomorrow looks similar.

Good morning. Sun is shining, but still a bit nippy.

i've just been sorting some flowers that were past their best and washed the vases.

Daisy, you did well to get the grass cut. Glad OH ok after a hot shower.

Not sure what we are having for dinner, but i'm sure i'll rustle up something.

        Morning Nanto, Ladies.

        Nanto
It's the same here sunny but cold.
I like mash with sweetcorn or shredded cabbage,

I bought some veg mash from M&S the other day it had carrots broccoli etc in , to be honest it wasn't great , it was more like bubble and squeak without being fried.
I said to B we should have done it that way ,
I don't think we will buy it again.

        Daisy
Did you sleep well, Is it an early appointment this morning?

        Gem
What are your plans today anything exciting 😁

        B has Drs this morning,
That's an appointment every day this week with one thing or another.

I want to clear the leaves this morning but my hip is painful from yesterday so I will see how I feel.

          Good morning ladies.

          No sun here Nan2,

Plant, It is hard to get a job which fits in with school holidays. That's why I was a playgroup leader for many years. Not brilliant pay but I was there for my girls.

Oma, I hope next week holds less appointments for you. Leave the leaves!!

          How are you today Daisy?

No exciting plans Oma no Just aqua this morning. No GS2 as he is going for tea and and sleepover with his friend tonight.
I hardly dare tell you that I am yet again picking my friend up for aqua.

It's a strange story, but she definitely isn't doing it to get the lifts! Since she split up with her OH around the same time as her car broke (but are under the same roof until they sell the house) the timing couldn't be worse. She has to ask ex OH to lend her car, get lifts from me or her DDs or take buses. It broke down suddenly in June and she thought it had had it and was looking for another. Her SIL put her on to a friend of his who has a garage and said he could sort it out. It would take a couple of weeks. That was a long tine ago. It doesn't help that the garage is 20 miles away so she cant just drop in. I will find out today what the latest hitch is.

            Good Friday morning, everyone.

Nanto, thank you for the nice, cheery graphic. It's not cold here, but no sunshine. Hopefully it will warm up for you later.

Oma, no hospital appointment today. My next one is in a couple of weeks, and I did sleep well, thank you for asking. Do take care with your back. As Gem says, leave the leaves - they are falling all the time so it would only need doing again in a few days. I hope B's appointment at the doctor's goes ok. It's been a busy week for you both.

Gem, I didn't realise the aqua friend was the one who has just split up from her OH. What an awful time for her, and really bad timing for the car to go wrong. I wonder if her SIL could have a word with the owner of the garage and find out what is really going on with her car.

Plant, how did your GD get on at the interview? Most jobs don't fit very well with school holidays, and teaching was a godsend to me when the boys were young, even though our holidays didn't always coincide, especially when we were in two different counties. But mostly they worked ok.

No particular plans for us today. OH says he'll do some gardening, and I'll see how I feel later, but I'd like to help.

GD back from interview, she is at her sister’s house (the pregnant one) and they are meeting a friend for lunch. I have just spoken to her, she didn’t sound very hopeful. The job is just a cleaning job but it fits in with her DD’s school. It is at a very special boarding school. A lot of the girls are daughters of diplomats, etc. Very high security. GD didn’t sound very hopeful, several people interviewed.

Gemini, The situation with your friend’s car is a bit complicated, I hope it gets resolved soon for her.

Daisy, Two weeks break from the hospital visits sounds good. Enjoy your books.

Oma, you and B sound as if you are very busy with Mil and doctors visits. I hope you can find some time for yourselves. Has Storm settled at home?

It has be a mostly dull but fine day here. OH stripped the bed and got the bedding on the line this morning and we put new on this afternoon, so all clean and fresh again

It was sunny till about 12ish, then it cloudy for the rest of the day.

I haven't done much today, apart from giving the kitchen a good clean.
When hubby came home from his meet up,he put up a new security light.
The one we had in that particular place died a couple of days ago, but it had been up many years.
He's not happy with the one over tha garage,so he's ordered a new one.

Plant, hope GD gets the job.

                    Plant
Fingers crossed for GD but if she doesn't I'm sure something will turn up that fits in with school runs.
Yes Storm has settled back home, we didn't have him today so he doesn't worry he is being left again.

                    Daisy
Nice to have a couple of weeks break from the hospital.

                    Gem
We intend striping the bed tomorrow, I'm hoping it's nice enough to get them on the line , if not it will be the tumble dryer again.

We went to the farm shop today , I bought their speciality sausages , they are called Penshaw piglets, very popular. Some gammon steak's, Diced steak, and minted lamb chops,
We had the chops tonight with broccoli and green beans,
I'm not a lover of lamb but as they were minted they were ok.
B jointed a whole duck we bought yesterday,
The breasts for us and lovely duck legs for Storm 😁

I've had a bit of a headache today , just tiredness really so hopefully I sleep ok tonight.
I didn't get the leaves up I couldn't be bothered.

Oma, I'm glad you left the leave where they were. Your back is more important. Sleep well tonight and hopefully get rid of that headache. Your farm shop sounds very well stocked with meaty treats, and Storm is a lucky dog to get duck legs. We sometimes have lamb chops and OH has become very good at cooking them just right - we just add mint sauce on the plate.

Gem, new bedding is lovely. We had much the same weather - dull and not very warm.

Nanto, we find security lights can be a bit of a pain. Sometimes they don't seem to last 5 minutes, but others go on for years. Our one over the garage seems to have a mind of its own. I hope your new one is better.

Plant, your GD's interview may have gone better than she thought, and I'm sure she will pass all the security checks with no problem. When will she know?

Our day didn't go to plan. OH was going to do some weeding, but hurt his back. He only picked up a small item from the kitchen table and turned round and - ouch! - Gardening was definitely off the agenda. I don't seem to have achieved much, but I did take Eva for a good walk this afternoon. With the nights drawing in, walks get earlier and earlier, but this morning was the Drift. This is when all the ponies in the area are rounded up, checked over, wormed and tails trimmed before being turned back out on the Forest. It can be quite dangerous and lots of car parks and some roads were closed for a few hours.

                        Good morning.

Daisy, hope OH's back is better soon.

Oma, we have a silver birch close to the hawthorn hedge. It's a constant battle with the leaves. It was here when we got the house. I would like it gone, but hubby doesn't.
I once read that the average lifespan for a silver birch is 50 years. Well we've lived here almost 57 years and it's still going strong.

We are going to Wombwell (pronounced Wumwell) today. Don't need much, but it's gets us out for a bit.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

                          Morning,Nanto Ladies,

                          Nanto
Every time it you say Wombwell I think of the Wombles 😁
                          Enjoy your day out,
These trees behind my garden fence are over 47 ft high and very wide ,
We have so many trees around us it's a constant battle with the leaves.

                          Daisy
I hope J isn't in too much pain today,
Our Martin was off his feet for 3 weeks a couple of months ago , someone knocked on his office door he swung around to see who it was and put his back out.
He's still having physio and acupuncture, so easily done.

I watched a programme about the Drift and the ponies, some were easily spooked and we're not very friendly,
Being wild I suppose that's natural plus the young ones were skittish.

I've had a clean through and a shower , bedding in the wash and I'm doing nothing else,
I had a really unsettled night again and got up at 5 so I'm tired .

I think DD is walking over with Storm, then this afternoon B is going to clean the living room carpet.

                            Good morning ladies.

We had sun early but it has clouded over now.

                            Enjoy Wombwell Nan2.

Oma, how is you back today?

At some point today we will go shopping. OH wants to look for a new golf top and spend a birthday voucher. We need a couple of other things so will pop into Tesco or Sainsbury's.
I may make up the guest bed ready for the catsitters when we go away, then we will just have to dust round before we go.

I hope S gets what she is looking for.

B is busy washing the carpet,
My goodness from the colour of the water it needed it 😱
At least it doesn't smell of dog now 😁

I haven't done much today I have just read my book it's one of those books you don't want to put down,
A easy read , nothing that taxes the brain type of book.
