Went to see MIL tonight she's doing well I think maybe out next week.
While we were there they came with her tea.
She had asked for jacket potato.
They asked if she wanted a spoon full of coleslaw or a spoon of grated cheese,
She asked for both , they said sorry your only allowed one or the other.

I said you must be joking she can't have a small spoon full of cheese,
      She said that's the rules.
I wasn't having that , it was a tiny potato to start with , she got her cheese after I argued with the server .
How ridiculous, how do people get better if they ration the food?

SIl is taking a tub of grated cheese in tomorrow to put in the fridge as we may not be there the next time .
Just as well we took two apple turnovers in at least she's getting something else tonight.
She did say lunch was lovely , a bigger bowl of soup with a crusty roll then sponge pudding and custard for afters ,

I can't believe they quibbled over a little bit of cheese 😱

Oma, your poor neighbour, she must have felt shocked by her fall. thank goodness she was ok. It sounds as though she should use a stick or something to steady her round the house. Oma, making a patient choose between a good quality protein and a vegetable-based food sounds absolutely ludicrous! I know budgeting for hospital meals is very tight, but that really is out of order.

Plant, I had to shorten a couple of t-shirts I bought a few weeks ago - they were just an inch or two too long, but I wasn't happy with them at that length. How did your walk to the end of the road go? My GS2 is 20.

The new shower has been fitted. The controls are different from the old one, and to my mind less clear, but I'm sure we'll get used to it. The old controller had batteries we had to change occasionally, but this one has to be recharged occasionally.

Thank goodness you were there for your neighbour Oma. I hope you didn't hurt your back helping her up.
You are right, they are supposed to be encouraging people to eat and recover, not rationing the food like that.

I bet you will soon get used to the new shower controls Daisy.

I did my morning aqua class, had coffee with the friend who was there, went shopping to Sainsbury's then came home for a shower and lunch.
After a rest I went into the garden. I got all the tubs planted out. OH did the hanging basket, cut and edged the lawn, and put canes in the bean plants. We were both happily busy , and had a cuppa in the sun as well.

My GD did her first GCSE exam today and it seems to have gone well.

Looking a bit dull this morning.

Gem, glad you got all the planting done.
We were able to have a cuppa outside as well.
Glad GD,s first exam went well.

Oma, that was a bit skinny with only one spoon of cheese or coleslaw. I thought rationing was over.

Daisy, I think you'll soon get used to the new shower.

Hubby out for his Tuesday meet up with his pal.

After I've tidied round I've got a pile of ironing to do.

Dinner is homemade chicken, leek and mushroom pie, with potato and swede mash ,veg and gravy.

              Good morning ladies.

Nan2, get that ironing done with and enjoy the rest of the day

Library morning. I have a Vinted sale to post on the way back, then my monthly massage this afternoon.

The sun is out already, I will hang some washing out before I go to the library.

                Good Tuesday morning, everyone.

Nanto, I'm off to the garden centre in a few minutes - and I want a display of flowers just like that! I hope you can relax after you've got that ironing out of the way. Is Hubby's friend ok now?

Gem, A varied day for you! Your washing should dry nicely for when you get back from your massage. You and S did vry well to get all that gardening done yesterday.

I have a telephone appointment with the specialist this afternoon - I'm so pleased we haven't got to trek into the hospital for a face-to-face. So we're going to get a few things from the garden centre and hopefully get the planting done this afternoon. It's nice and sunny, but not too hot yet.

                  Morning ladies

Gem sound like you had a good gardening day yesterday,
Doesn't it always look nice when you freshly plant stuff, it makes you feel like summer is around the corner.

How did it go at the hospital with GS?

                  Daisy
I'm sure you will get used to the new shower, it's just figuring out the new controls isn't it.
Hope you have a productive visit to the garden centre and get what your looking for.
Good luck with your consultant phone appointment.

                  Nanto
Getting the ironing out of the way means you have the rest of the day without the dread of doing it.

B sanded my coffee table this morning and put a coat of oil on,
I have a habit of throwing the remote to him missing and hitting the table,
It had one or two dents in 🫣
I have been told I can't throw it anymore because my aim is useless 🤣

We then popped to Aldi, I wanted cabbage and green beans to go with my salmon tonight ,
B is having steak so the candles will be lit to get rid of the smell,
I hate the smell of steak cooking.

It's bright but a bit chilly, especially in the shade.

Bright and chilly here too Oma. Now no more throwing things at B.

Nanto, Dinner sounds good but not the ironing.

Daisy, I hope the telephone conversation with the specialist goes well. I hope you find some nice bargains at the garden centres.

Just been up to the parade with my new Rollacre, . GD took me, we had a lot of stuff for the charity shop. Then I did a small shop in the CoOP, bought some cards and then stopped for a cup of tea. Feel fine, back aching very slightly. Feel happy to go it alone now. H thought it was great.

Gemini, I am thinking of you and Sue.

Plant, so pleased you did ok with the Rollator.

Oma, glad its only the table you hit with the remote, and not B.

Its clouded over a bit now,but it was still warm enough to have a cuppa in the garden.
Just had an alert on my phone, says rain possible at 5pm.

                      The ironing has been done.

I have been to the hospital for the results of all the tests I had to have done, everything is fine! I was worried as my sister started with the cancer of the lungs at my age, when they wanted to have my lungs tested it worried me!!! The specialist said she had "deep" blood tests done and all are fine. She has recommended a vaccination for shingles, I will discuss that with my doctor, we have to pay it ourselves and it is very expensive!

It is lovely and sunny with wind, I cheated and went on the E bike!

                          Lizzie that's great news,
At the moment there is a push here for everyone between the ages of 50-75 to have lung cancer and lung performance tests done,
Oue surgery are sending out invites.
B had his shingles jab last year apart from a sore arm and a bit of a temperature for a few hours he was fine.

Lizzie, that is lovely news to come here and read I'm very glad for you.

Daisy, a telephone appointment is definitely preferable to travel and parking. Plus if they are late as they often are at least you are at home not sitting in a waiting room. Did you get some planting done?

It sounds as though you are getting on well with the rollator Plant.

Stop throwing the remote control Oma

OH did well at golf. I think she was 8th out of 50. That's not good enough in her book, but very good in mine! It has been a lovely warm day. I had my lunch in the garden before going for my massage, and OH and I sat in the garden for quite a while once we were both home.

I had the shingles jab a few years ago.

Gem, 8 out ot 50 is very good in my book.

Its turned cool here and we have had a few,and it was a few spots of rain.

Lizzie, what great news. You must be very relieved to be given the all-clear. The shingles jab was tried out here in about 2013, and I happened to have been in the age group for it. I don't remember having any after effects, and it's a one-off. What a pity it's so expensive for you, but I remember my mother having shingles in her 70s and it was awful, she was so poorly.

Oma, poor B having to dodge flying missiles like the controller. It's a good job you're not a great shot. I hope the coffee table has recovered.

Plant, you're doing well with the rollator. Your back is probably a bit tense to start with so hopefully that will be ok when you've had a bit more practice.

Gem, well done to S - 8 out of 50 is good in my book, too. I hope you're feeling all relaxed after your massage. Your nice warm time in the garden sounds perfect.

Nanto, I think we are forecast rain for tomorrow. For once I won't mind, the garden needs it.

We spent quite a while at the garden centre trying to choose plants to fill gaps in the borders. I like lots of colour so I'm trying to make sure there's always something to catch the eye. We ended up with some Lupins, Hardy Geraniums, Pelargoniums, and a Philadelphus. We got two big pots to transplant a couple of canna lilies that have outgrown their current pots, but we didn't have time to start planting today. They all needed a good watering anyway. I was quite tired by the time we got home, but pleased with what we've chosen.

                                An update in YEO.
