Oma, chicken cacciatore is one of those meals I have been cooking for over 30 years, it's in my repertoire
It is tomato based yes, and has thyme and a slug of red wine ( not essential!)

        Good Thursday afternoon, everyone.

Nanto, that's a busy morning in the kitchen, but nice to have those dishes in the freezer for when you need them. You're making the most of the rhubarb as well. I hope you sleep better tonight.

Gem, no wonder S is pleased to see her handicap go down. It must be very satisfying. I hope you're having a lovely time with little E today. Is it nice enough to go out? The chicken Cacciatore sounds wonderful - a real comfort meal, but also useful for summer.

Oma, how is MIL? Did she like the Eton Mess? I love the smell of bees wax! I can see you'd be there sniffing the table. No, OH waited for the rain to stop before he took Eva out. On the way back she decided to go a different way. OH called her back but she still wanted to go that way. OH didn't argue, but round the corner a couple of friends were out in the front garden - the chap is one of her favourite people and she was determined to say 'hello'. She must have heard his voice.

It's sunny here but none too warm. I went round to our neighbour's for coffee this morning. It was good to have a chat and a good catch up. Eva came with me and spent ages looking for our friend's husband, who was out playing golf. You just can't explain to a dog! While I was out OH did a great job of weeding a patch by the front door. We pulled out some very woody lavender plants and the replacements are due to arrive today.

We'll take Eva over to DS2's later this afternoon, but before we go I'm going to make a chicken curry while OH carries on with weeding the front garden. My hospital appointment tomorrow is 8.30 but with the main route into the town closed we will have to leave extra early. It's closed all week because of a suspected water leak, and 10 minute journeys are taking up to 3 hours! Apparently a lot of students at a nearby school missed vital GCSE and A Level exams on Monday because of the gridlocked roads. As far as I know they haven't found the leak yet, but are taking the Bank holiday week-end off to ease traffic congestion. They say. Even worse, they will probably have to close the road again when they've found the leak to do remedial work. The flyover carrying part of this road was closed for months and months not long ago while they remodelled the roundabout that goes under it.

I always seem to be moaning about our roads, but when one road is closed it can mean long detours and inevitably longer delays. Our village is still in chaos because of road "improvements" most of us don't want, especially at a busy holiday period. One card/gift shop has closed for a month and the owner gone on holiday because every time anyone opened his shop door great clouds of dust and debris blew in and people couldn't get in easily because of the barriers round the road works. He said it just wasn't worth opening.

Hallo everyone, Daisy, it must be a huge problem with the roads for you, I hope it all goes well tomorrow morning.

My friend with Alzheimer , she has been deteriorating the last few months, the doctors have advised her children to let her go peacefully, they said their goodbyes yesterday and today she will get put into a deep sleep, they have told the family it could take up to a fortnight, the poor family! Her daughter said they had papers for euthanasia but apparently either too late signing them or not complete. I am busy with mine, it is not an easy task but has to be done.

I am waiting for GD1, she has had exams today at the college and has passed to goes through to next term.

It is sunny here, very chilly in the wind though.

Oma, I love the smell of bees wax, I did the kitchen cupboard just the other week.

What a palaver those road closures works are,
Every time we go out there seems to be more cones out , at the moment they are cutting the verges and central reservations on our highway , rush hour is a nightmare to get through.

Eva would have heard him even if J didn't, she knew where she wanted to be 😁

MIL was really good today, she had been up in the chair all day dressed in her own clothes and had been for a wander,
She really enjoyed the Eton mess.
I cut her nails and filed them ,

I think I have persuaded her to get a rollator for when she gets out , I think it will be safer than a Zimmer frame.
B's sister is going to show her some tomorrow when she goes in and get one ordered.

            Lizzie
It's a awful situation for the family but at least she will go peacefully
Well done to your GD clever girlπŸ‘

Daisy, road closures are getting worse, but what can we do.
Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.

              Lizzie, sad about your friend.

We had a lovely pub meal and a good giggle with sis in law and hubby.

Oma, MIL seems to be on the mend.
I didn't mind cooking this morning, rhubarb cooks very quickly.
The filling for the meat and potato pies was done in the slow cooker.
I made 2 meat and potato pies, one in the freezer and one in the fridge for tomorrow
Made a rhubarb pie and a crumble.
DS1 called, so i ended up putting the crumble in the air fryer,so he could take it home. Gave him a tin of custard as well to go with it.

Aww, how sweet about Eva looking for your friends OH Daisy.
The problems with your roads sound a complete pain. I hope it's not too bad for your journey in the morning.

Well done to your GD Lizzie.

Your MIL is rallying round again Oma!

That sounds a nice time Nan2.

Plant messaged me that she has been having trouble getting on here recently, and wasn't able to get on at all at that point ( this afternoon)
I hope she manages tomorrow. I don't know what the problem can be, but we will do our best to help her if we can .

I had a good day with little E, who is as cute and adorable as always
Painting, train track and cars and garage were the main occupations of the day. And the obligatory few Bing episodes of course!
OH's team won at golf, so she came home happy.

                Night everyone 😴

Good morning, nice and bright here.
I think rain is forecast for tonight.

Daisy, hope your appointment goes well.

Gem,well done to OH's team for winning at golf.
Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday with E.

Hope Plant get on here today.

Hubby out for his Friday meet up with his pal.

I'm going to have a tidy up inside, then I'm going to cut the grass.

Dinner is one of the meat potato pies I made yesterday, hubby has requested mushy peas with it.

                  Have a good day ladies.

                    Morning ladies
                    It's bright but nippy still,

                    Nanto
You can't have pie without mushy peas, will you make gravy with it?
Hope the grass is dry enough to cut , we still have a bit morning dew over our garden.

                    Gem
Well done to S that's a great result.
Little E sounds adorable, I do miss the boys at that age.
Ann messaged me too , I suggested rebooting her iPad and phone , sometimes that works,
                    I hope she manages today.

Dog day for us so I will get on with jobs I've been putting off , nothing exciting ,
I will get B to bring a case down from the loft to air , I don't like the loft smell it smells cold if you know what I mean 😁

Good morning, it is more than nippy here Oma! I have been to the doctor as I am so short of breath, she said it was a really bad virus and the man before me had exactly the same symptoms ! Apart from that I am fine.

I have just phoned, yet again, about the intercom, GD1 came yesterday evening, I had to go down to open the door for her. The blazer I made is a perfect fit, she was really pleased with it. I took her home at 10pm, she was helping me install a new phone, when I took her home I said I had to put my license and car card in my pocket as you never know. I got home and was so tired I went to bed, this morning I was sat here thinking I hadn't seen the cards, well, I tried all my pockets in the jacket, the skirt I had one, nothing! I went down to the garage in my nightie with a coat over it to look in the car, nothing, I was panicking by then as I had thrown things in the container when I got home. I looked again in the bedroom as I put my clothes over a rack, nothing, then I saw something between the wall and skirting!! They had fallen out of my pocket there, luckily with the long side up, if they had been the other way round I would never have found them!

I hope that Plant gets it sorted today.

Gem, S did well with her golf, the friend in Scotland plays almost daily.

                        Hello everyone.

Daisy I hope the traffic wasn't too awful and your appointment went smoothly.

Phew Lizzie, lucky you spotted those cards!

Exciting when you get the cases down Oma.

Did you get the grass cut Nan2?

My friend M came for coffee this morning.
GS1 is due to come with me on the school run for his cousin this afternoon. He's not here yet but I think he will be soon
Golf again for OH. This is a game of golf at a different course which was a competition prize. She and 3 friends have gone.
It's a sunny day but cool.

Oma, yes we are having gravy with the pie as well as mushy peas.

The grass has been cut. Talk about dusty when emptying the cuttings into the bin.

That's why I didn't bother having a shower first thing.
Had my shower about an hour ago.

A late hello from me today.

Gem, congratulations to S and team for their competition win. Do they get a trophy? I hope she enjoys playing at the other golf course today. I hope GS1 made it in time for the school run this afternoon. Is it half term next week?

Nanto, I bet hubby enjoyed the meat and potato pie and mushy peas. Why are mushy peas so delicious! We always used to have tinned processed peas when I was a child, and they always tasted soapy to me, but mushy peas jut taste of peas. The grass is so dry, even after the bit of rain we've had.

Oma, can you still smell that lovely beeswax? Does Storm lick it? (I hope not, but with dogs you never know.) I hope your MIL continues to make progress. Daily Eton Mess from now on? When she's due for discharge will an Occupational Therapist visit her house and make suggestions for her safety? If so I'm sure a rollator would be an important aid for her. I don't know what it is about lofts, but everything always smells a bit dusty/musty/cold. I like to get suitcases out to air as well.

Lizzie, it's sad to hear about your friend, but at least she's peaceful and her family are with her. No wonder your GD1 was pleased with her blazer, and she will enjoy wearing it. I hope her exams have gone ok - have they finished yet? I didn't realise you were still having problems with your intercom. What a nuisance having to go down and open the door like that. I bet you had a big sigh of relief when you found those cards. We depend on such things so much and thinking you've lost them is awful. Has the change in weather made your breathing worse?

Plant, so glad you can get on here again. My access was very slow last night, and I often think the weather and/or positioning of satellites makes a difference. It usually rights itself, but it's always sensible to check with us in case it's something we can fix. xx

We left home at 6.30 this morning, for my 8.30 appointment. We didn't think it would take two hours, it was more that we knew the traffic would build up from 7 o'clock. We also went a long way round and approached the hospital from the opposite direction and got there before 7.30. But with one thing an another we didn't finish until 10.30. I was glad we'd taken a little picnic - breakfast at 6 am means 10.30 must be lunch time! We went straight to pick up Eva, and it was lovely to find GD2 at home on an Inset Day. We had a lovely chat and she let me try out her latest slime.

OH has planted the new Lavender plants by the front door. When they're in flower they smell lovely.
