    Good morning everyone.
    It's frosty out here!

I love scented candles, all my DDs do as well. OH is less keen. When I was pregnant with DD3 my mum had an apple scented candle and the smell of that even unlit made me feel sick! I had to sit at the other side of the room when I visited.

Plant I'm glad you managed the board games. I hope you soon feel perkier.

Daisy, my duvet coat is bulky but very light and very warm, plus easy to wash, I love it! Mine was from M&S about 5 years ago.
I think dog training must be good for the owners as it produces so much laughter

Oma, how are you today, will you have to cancel the dentist?

GS3 day, and GS1 will be here for part of it too. GS3 will be very excited

Good morning, and its a cold one. Jack Frost is out and about.

Oma, hope you feel better this morning.

Daisy, I always use slow cooker liners, have done for years.
They aren't foil, they are see through.
I'll have a look on the packet later and see if it says what they are made from.

Plant, glad you managed to go to the games.

Asda being delivered between 9 and 10. There are 3 substitutes but I'm only keeping one of them.

I bet hubby will be taking one his lights down in the shed and putting his new one up.

        Morning ladies ladies,

        Daisy
All the dogs sound like giddy aunts yesterday πŸ˜‚
Nice to be able to have fun with them though.

        Nanto
We have some liners for ours they similar to the liners you put in paint trays , a see through sort of plastic but obviously food safe πŸ˜‚
We also have some like parchment paper.

        Gem
enjoy your GS's day, will you go out? or just a nice warm day indoors.

I'm ringing Dentist at 9 I don't think they will want me going in like this,
Coughed most of the night my throat feels like it's scratched and I have a bit of a temperature

On top of that the tumble dryer blew up this morning smoking and tripping the switches.
So new one on order and B has had to set all the clocks again.
You don't realise how many clocks you have till you get that job.

I think staying in and rearranging the dentist is the best idea Oma.

GS3 and I had planned to go to the library this morning but as GS1 will be with us and should officially be in school I don't think we should!

Rearrange Dentist but it won't be till middle of January but she has put me on the cancellation list, incase a half hour slot becomes available before then.
One of the Dentists has rang in sick with cold symptoms too, it's that time of year isn't it.

I'm having a hot honey and lemon drink to soothe my throat.

I can see your point with GS1 but it means GS3 is missing out doesn't it .

Oma, you did the right thing rearranging the dentist.

Daisy, checked the packet of slow cooker liners, and there is the warning about plastic can cause suffocating, so obviously they must be some kind of plastic.
If you're against using plastic they probably wouldn't be for you.

I'm not against using plastic, I always have a good supply of cling film in.
I use anything that will make my life easier.

              Asda delivery was early today.
I do an order every two weeks, but I have cancelled my next one.
Next order is for 3 weeks time.
I've really struggled this morning getting things in the freezers.

The only thing we'll get short of is milk, so whenever we are out, we'll get some as and when.

Gem, enjoy your day with GDS's.

                Good Thursday morning, everyone.

Nanto, thank you for the info on slow cooker liners. I imagined them being tinfoil. I do use plastic/cling film, but always feel a bit guilty. So if I need to cover something over in the bridge I usually put a plate/saucer or bowl over it if I can. Is Oh pleased with his new light for the shed? It's frustrating when you get poor substitutes from the supermarkets. Your freezers must be well-stocked. It's a nice feeling, isn't it. Plenty of food and I know you prepare a lot of meals and freeze them. We almost never run out of milk because we have it delivered - an old fashioned milkman with a modern touch - you order online. Ours comes three times a week and you can change or order up to 9 pm the night before a delivery. They also do a really good range of groceries as well. There's nothing I order regularly, but it's great if there are unexpected visitors or you run out of basics.

Gem, you are going to have a busy day with two GSs. It's difficult to know what to do about going to the library, but my feeling is that it would be ok to take GS1 to a library. You could give him a small task of some sort, like working out why the books are arranged on the shelves in the order they are, or to use some of the books to help/inspire him to write a little story. Learning is learning, and it's also helping his social interactions just being out and about with people. (I realise none of this might be possible, I don't know him, and I agree it's difficult when he should be in school.)

Oma, I'm sorry you've had to cancel the dentists and will probably have to wait till January for another appointment. But, you definitely need to stay home and cosset yourself. Fingers crossed you are ok for Sunday. Big hugs. What a nuisance your drier blowing up like that. Hopefully a new one will arrive quickly.

We had overnight frost but the sun's shining now. I've got all the towels in the wash but will have to put them in the drier. I've just had a long chat with a close friend, and a good catch up, and it's put me in the mood for a lazy day!

In the end it was decided that GS1 was coming over in the afternoon and staying for tea. This left GS3 and I free to go to the library this morning ,so it all worked well. Although DD3 when dropping of little GS3 said she didn't think it would be an issue taking his cousin, as you said Daisy, and that at least it would keep him off screens! As he came in the afternoon it didn't apply in the end!
GS3 is napping now and GS1 watching TV and chatting to me!

Very sunny here but still frosty where the sun doesn't reach.

Gem, I'm glad your Granny duties worked out so well in the end. I was thinking about GS1 and issues like we discussed this morning. One thing I have noticed is that more and more children are being home educated (I'm neither for nor against that) and we often see small groups of children at various venues. A good example was a trip to our local recycling centre some months ago. It was obviously a little group of home ed youngsters of various ages "doing" environmental studies with parents. There was another group at The Needles on the Isle of Wight studying geology. I can see the value of youngsters learning, say, how a library organises its stock and what services it offers, or visiting factories, the natural world, wild life sanctuaries, etc.

The sun has been shining all day, although it's still cold. I took Eva out for about an hour this afternoon and despite the flooded areas and dreadful mud we had a lovely walk. OH is busy in the garage still working on the garden chairs he's repairing. He's pleased with how they are looking but didn't expect to take so long over them.

Hallo everyone, it has been lovely weather here today so I went on a river cruise! I have a Rotterdam card and we go on a cruise with it so I decided to do it today.

Gem, does GS1 keep up with the school work? It must be strange really as he will miss the friends at school.

I see those liners here, they seem to be like greaseproof paper, I will have a feel of them tomorrow.

Oma, I hope that you are feeling better now.

I came home and a workman was checking the new lift, if all goes to plan we can use it tomorrow afternoon.

DD&SIL have this cold too DD woke this morning with it , she was supposed to be away on a two days conference but had to cancel. SIL has had it since Monday.

I didn't feel up to much today so I wrote my Christmas cards out and B posted the ones I'm sending.

Lizzie I saw the pics on FB, good idea to take advantage of a nice day and go on a river cruise.

Oma, it's a shame you had to miss Archie's party
I hope you are soon on the mend. A lot of bugs around at the moment it seems.

The boys enjoyed each others company this afternoon.
I had a very poor nights sleep last night so felt very tired this afternoon and have a headache now. I will watch I'm a Celebrity, then off to bed.
                            Night everyone!

Night, night, Gem. I hope you sleep well and you wake up feeling fine tomorrow. I bet the boys had a lovely time together this afternoon. Do they both like the kittens? Was it GS1 you took to a cat cafe at one time?

Oma, so many people seem to have bugs, colds etc. You did well to get your Christmas cards written though. It's a nice idea to give the money you've saved on stamps to the soup kitchen. I hope your DD and SIL are soon better. Has your SIL had to take time off work - I know he's very busy at this time of year, and when it's your own business it isn't easy. Hard to believe Archie is 5 already. Childhood seems to speed by these days.

Lizzie, what a good idea to grab the opportunity of the river cruise on a nice day like today. It's sounds a lovely trip out and a great way to blow the cobwebs away. Fingers crossed that your lifts are now ok and in full working order.
