A wise decision to speak to the pharmacist, they may be able to recommend something to help you through this rough patch your feeling 💗

    Daisy
Do be careful out and about especially in the dark, you don't need broken bones 🩻
I did tell the waiting staff but to be honest they didn't seem bothered ,
Normally I would have pushed it but it was packed and noisy and they just didn't have the staff to cope.

    Lizzie
I bet it shook you up at least it blew you into the kerb and not the road.

GS. & Lucie been for lunch , he's dropping Lucie back home then going to see his other Gran before heading back to Leeds

Lizzie, being blown into the kerb like that must have been scary. Thank goodness you were ok. It's great when you can dry washing at this time of year. Enjoy the milder weather while it lasts.

Plant, everywhere looks a bit dismal when the weather's like this and all the leaves are lying in sodden heaps in the garden. I do hope the pharmacist can suggest something to give your energy levels a boost and build up your resistance to all the colds etc. We take Vit D in the winter and we've just ordered some stronger ones for this winter. Your DIL sounds very thoughtful, and she's probably worried you've been feeling poorly. Did the shower pass GD's test?

Oma, I hope the weather's not too bad for GS driving back to Leeds today. I'm sure D must have been delighted to see him. How is she now?

I decided not to risk another night-time walk today. I took Eva out about 2.15. It was extremely windy so I walked out on to the open forest (worried about falling branches etc) and had just reached the half way mark when the heavens opened. I turned back as there were fewer trees that way, but I was walking right into the wind and the rain was like needles in my face! Eva didn't seem too bothered, but it was very noisy. Not surprised there weren't many people about though! In a funny sort of way, I quite enjoyed it.

Good lord Lizzie , take care!

I agree Plant, good idea to talk to the pharmacist.

Oma, nice to see GS and Lucie I'm sure.

Daisy, I'm glad you got the walk in before dark. Very sensible. It's dark so early these days isn't it? Especially on dull days.

The storm has passed here and it's been very mild. 14 degrees on the car. Strange to think we had minus 4 a couple of days ago!
We had a good browse at the antique fair and we bought some bone handled knives to replace the ones belonging to OH which we ruined in the dishwasher
I saw a beautiful blue enamelled silver art Deco compact. It was perfect and cost £95. I'm sure we could have got her to knock it down a bit, but I'm not in the market for something so expensive. I can dream though
When we got back we let the kittens have a little run in the garden.
Luckily I bagged a cancellation for tomorrow's aquafit class, so I have that to look forward to tomorrow.
GD took part in a gymnastic dance competition today and did very well, coming First and Third in her entries .It makes us all happy and proud when she does something like this, regaining her confidence and getting her life back.

Daisy, I can imagine you enjoying walking in the rain, once you are wet, you can enjoy it! I hope your torch soon arrives, I can only guess how dark it is, about as dark as it was here on Wednesday evening, I couldn't find the keyhole in my front door, realising much later I could have used the torch on the iPhone!!

I went on the bike to village this afternoon, it was 16 degrees where it was 1 degree only yesterday.

GD1 called in with her BF, I knew they would call in so made some cup cakes, they were on their way to the huge shopping mall near Den Haag. It is the first time he has been to visit me. I have just received a photo of them eating in the Mall.

She was telling me that her father enjoyed New York so much that the family are going in April instead of the UK in the summer, GD1 wasn't going with them, she won't give New York a miss though! He told them he has seen to much more of New York than they did the last time they went, they were going just before Covid so will be looking forward to going in April.

Gem, that is a lot of money for a compact, we can dream! Vintage is very popular here at the moment, I see that there is a vintage store open in Den Haag, a huge hall with different shops etc. Well done to your GD, I am pleased that she is back to enjoying life. You will be pleased that you have got in for aqua, I am going tomorrow, I have just received a message from my friend, she won't be there tomorrow, had her eyebrows dyed and can't get them wet.

The compact sounds lovely but expensive if all you do is look at it, would you have used it do you think?
Well done GD , nice to hear she is enjoying herself.

            Daisy
Lizzie is right once your. Wet you can't get any wetter so enjoy the walk,
I have done that with Storm, been soaked through and thought no point hurrying now so may as well take out time 😁

            Lizzie
isn't it strange when the GC start bringing their boyfriend/girlfriend's home😁
My two youngest GC spent last Christmas in New york. They loved it.

GS sent a link to a Jacket he wanted for Christmas, I won't tell you the cost it was eye watering 😱
It's ordered along with what Lucie wanted She wanted a sweat shirt and pants to match , a more modest price 😁, I will get her perfume and PJs to go with it.

Oma, no I wouldn't have used the compact. If I had endless money and n0 GC, I would have bought it just to admire Your GS has expensive tastes!

Two of my friends wont be at aqua tomorrow as well Lizzie . One has a hospital appointment, the other is flying to New York today! Her DS and little GSs are there so she tries to go once or twice a year.

Gem, the compact sounds beautiful. Sadly, it's not something many of us use now, is it. I've got a lovely blue enamelled one with a little circlet of flowers in the centre of the lid. It was a 21st birthday present, so not an antique just yet!! I never use it, but I do love just having it. I'm glad you got a place at Aqua this time. I hope your friend has a lovely time in New York. Congratulations to your GD on her win and place in the gymnastics dance competition. It must be fantastic for her confidence. I ope she realises how talented she is. xx

Oma, I know we all spoil our grandchildren, but I can imagine the coat will be so expensive it will need its own wardrobe and insurance! At least you know what J and Lucie want. It's really difficult to buy for young men like J and our GSs.

Lizzie, what a rise in temperature from one day to the next. I'm sure you didn't know what to wear to cope with that temp. How lovely for your family to have that trip to New York to look forward to in April.

Good morning. Breezy here, remnants from storm Bertie, but its dry.
Yesterday it was wet and dark all day.

I've got a compact hubby bought me the first Christmas we were together, so had it since 1966.

Lizzie, take care when on your bike when it's windy.

Oma, at least you know when they tell you what they want, you are getting something they will wear/ use.

No plans today, apart from ironing and making sure the house is tidy.

An easy dinner today. I took a homemade cottage pie out of the freezer yesterday.
Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

                    Good morning everyone.

Nan2 your compact will be classed as Vintage now.

Damp here but not raining, and not too cold.

Aqua this morning. My 2 closest aqua friends won't be there, the other is more of an acquaintance. I probably won't stay for coffee as I have reflexology at 1.

                    Have a good week ladies.

Hope you have a good Aqua session, I wish I wasn't so afraid of water. I think I must have drowned in a previous life 😁

No plans and a easy dinner. You won't know what to do with yourself.

it's damp out but the sun is shinning,
Car in for a service this morning so I'm getting on with a few jobs like cleaning the knife draw AGAIN 🫣
bane of my life that damn draw.

Its Bs 70th tomorrow ( card came Gem Thanks 🥰) I need to write his card out while he's at the garage ,
But apart from little bits like that there isn't much to do .

I slept quite well last night not right through but more than usual, got up a couple of times for the loo and lay clock watching for a while wondering if I should get up then I must have dozed off and woke about 5.45 .

Good Monday morning, everyone. We have sunshine but it's still wet underfoot.

Nanto, it sounds a much better day for you after yesterday's dreary weather. What a pretty butterfly to start the working week. What a co-incidence, 1966 was the first Christmas OH and I had together. I wonder in view of Gem saying your compact would be considered vintage, perhaps we are vintage as well!

Gem, It sounds like a nice "healthy" day for you - Aqua and reflexology. Ready for what I'm sure will be a busy week ahead.

Oma, it's funny how some parts of the house never seem to stay nice for long. I've got some little useless shelves in the kitchen, which I never wanted in the first place, and they're constantly in need of cleaning. I was looking at them when I cleaned the hob this morning, and plotting how I could get rid of them!
I hope B's car is ok. Are you celebrating his birthday tomorrow?

Plant, I hope this week is a better one for you.
I've got a few odds and ends to do this morning and OH hasn't even looked at his emails for several days so we'll get those jobs done. Then we've got to drop something off for the friends who own the paddock. While we're there we can take Eva for a good run round, which she'll love. That's about it for today. I'll do an easy dinner - salmon, Anya potatoes and whatever veggies are in the fridge.

All B wants to do is go out for a family meal on Sunday to our favourite Indians.
luckily we all love the place so DD is booking a table .

We had glass shelves in our kitchen,They were forever greasy , they had to go I couldn't cope with them.
THey looked stylish but very impractical in a working kitchen.
maybe a show home but not a normal every day kitchen.

I cleaned the knife draw and that led onto the other drawers , then the cupboard where the biscuits are kept ,
                            Then the tins cupboard.

I was going to tackle the one under the sink but I would have had to sit on the floor,
my back is feeling better so I didn't want to push my luck and not be able to get back up again 😀😀

Morning ladies! The sun is shining and Storm Bert seems to have moved on!

DS flew back yesterday. He said the take off was aborted and it didn't take off until 2 hours later! However, he managed to move into the new flat and he sent photos this morning. It's on the other side of the city from where he was, but it's more modern and a lot bigger. His balcony looks out onto a communal garden. He's much nearer work too, which is a bonus. DD took him to the airport in the morning.

In the afternoon, she came round for me and we went to the big out of town Next to collect something she'd ordered. We had a look at some of the Christmas stuff while we were there, lots of sparkly clothes this year and then went and had a coffee in Costa. It felt so good to be doing something normal! I had both crutches and we used the lifts rather than the escalator!
I had to check in with her when I went to bed and when I got up this morning! However I managed to make myself something to eat last and I'm thinking about what to have for lunch. Still not much of an appetite. I have been told in no uncertain terms that I am NOT to tackle any laundry! We took my car just to keep it ticking over. Always strange having someone else drive your car!

I weighed myself yesterday morning and was amazed to find I was the same as before the op. I believe the new hip weighs about a pound, so in theory, I've actually lost weight!

Think it might be a bit on the chilly side out there. All the people I've seen from my window are well wrapped up! I might have a little walk this afternoon, just to get used to walking outside with the crutches and to get some fresh air.

Anyway, hope all the poorly people are feeling better and that you all have a good afternoon. Take care xx
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

I'm sure your appetite will get better as time goes on, but treat yourself to something nice and naughty too eat 😀
Pleased your DS arrived safely after the flight delay,
