    Shppoing for us today.
Daisy, we have only seen photos of the house. We have been invited though, but i think they want us to see it,after they move in.
We did ask them what they wanted buying for the house, but all new furniture is ordered.
So, i think we are going to give them money, then they can buy something as and when they need to.

Sometimes I forget to like posts, but that doesn't mean I don't like them.

Good morning all , as it's a little nippy in the mornings now I think it's time to make some porridge for breakfast. We never sweeten our porridge with sugar , instead I take frozen raspberries out of the freezer, let them defrost and use them . We also sweeten it with fresh fruit if we have no raspberries and I always make porridge the old way, none of the prepacked portions in small bags that are tipped into a bowl and then microwaved . I have to admit I did once make porridge like that but it worked out so much more expensive.
My dad used to buy the porridge in bags like that , the flavoured ones with syrup, and then he would add sugar as well ! He had such a sweet tooth.

Not it sure what I am going to do today, I will see what the weather is like and then decide.

      Have a lovely Saturday ladies

Good Saturday morning everyone. It's a lovely sunny start to the day for us.

Nanto - I can understand them wanting to show you their house furnished and looking its best. I'm sure money will be a very welcome moving-in present.

Mimi - I love porridge! I do make it from scratch, but I take a sachet of microwaveable porridge for breakfast when I look after the GDs at their house. I have to leave too early to have breakfast before I go. It's not bad, but not as satisfying as the real thing!

Today we're going to a memorial service for an old friend who passed away a few weeks ago. The funeral was just family. I thought it would be a short service and that would be it, but it seems it may be about an hour and then a wake afterwards. There's very little parking at the church so the friends we're going with want to leave at 11.30 (service at 1 pm) so I doubt we'll be back home much before tea-time. I'm feeling very mean because he was a lovely friend, but I would love to be out in the garden or Forest remembering him than indoors in town on such a lovely day.

Lovely morning here. DH wants to do some gardening but I am planning to have a good sort out in the little bedroom, laughingly called "the study"! It has become a bit of a dumping ground lately so I am planning to blitz it. DH can then have fun trimming the bay trees without me saying...not too much!!

Daisy, I hope the memorial service goes as well as can be expected, do you have far to travel?

Mimi, I love proper porridge but have to admit to sprinkling a little bit of brown sugar on mine 🙀

            Good morning everyone.

Sunny here too Daisy. I hope the day is not too awful. I'm sure the friend himself would much prefer you to remember him in the autumn sunshine rather than in a long service.

Nan2, I think the money is a welcome gift when setting up a new home.

Zizi, how long will OH be away for? I would hate to be alone all the time, but the odd night (like tomorrow night with OH away with golf) I like having a bed to myself, and no flipping sport on TV

Mimi , I often have porridge. Sometimes made in those little sachets, sometimes made 'properly'! The sachets are useful, as I am usually making it just for me. I have almond milk and OH prefers cows milk.

Nothing wrong with a bit of brown sugar Enfys (or a little golden syrup )

A few of us are going to a friends house tonight for a catch up and maybe board games. We haven't done that for ages, so I'm looking forward to it.
Nothing else planned for today. I must finish unpacking from last weekend!

            Have a good day everyone

Morning ladies , wet and dull here , Bedding in the wash and we are going to meet friends for coffee at 10 then pop to Morrisons,
What a night I was up 5 times for a wee during night and spent two hours downstairs before could get back to sleep and B was in and out of bed with leg cramps , it was like a comedy duo , no sooner one got into bed and settled than the other one was up , .
Then when I was going back to bed he shouted down to bring him a juice up , handed it to him and he spilt it all over the bed so I just stripped it and we lay on the mattress protector and with no duvet cover on , couldn't be bothered to put clean bedding on ,
We were like the bloody chuckle brothers , me to you ,to you to me
What the neighbours must think if they happen to be up at that time the lights were on and off like a light house .

Gem he will be back on Monday morning, his flight leaves at 17.10 tomorrow and gets in to Gatwick at 6.20am. He will get home around 9.30am just in time to give me a kiss as I go out of the door to go to town for a charity event I have organised, I will be home about 4.30, he has to go to work Tuesday and I am home as the body shop people are picking the car up to repair it and leaving a hire car. My event on Wednesday has been cancelled, very short notice and I am Cross about it as this is the second short notice cancellation.

When something is cancelled at short notice it makes sites think twice about offering venues and volunteers another time so I have told the chap that unless he can assure me next time that it will go ahead I will not take bookings from him. Oh dear.

Oma shame on you not getting everything off the bed, washing it, drying it and remaking the bed before getting back into it. It is what I expect of you and NO do not make excuses that it was the middle of the night, it just won't wash (ha ha see what I did?)

This morning I have done the bakers for bread and a unicorn biscuit for Sadie and pirates for the boys then went to get whole all spice from the little Sainsbury but could not get any so will improvise, then bought pots for the chutney, took parcel to Hermes shop and came home. Have blitzed the kitchen and am going to have a look at the paper and do the puzzles then Blitz the sitting room and bathroom in between making the chutney and plucking up the courage the "charity bag" clear of my wardrobe. The bedroom needs bits doing as some of the holiday clothes aren't in the right place but I will leave that until tomorrow when I shall also approach the flat hot spitty thing. Wish me luck.......

Dull and cold here today just been for my flu jab at our doctors, nightmare parking, some people walk but bit too far for me.

Zizi, I am very intrigued about your possible new venture

Oma what a night you had, hope you both have a good night tonight.

We've just spent a large part of the afternoon looking for a passport.......his, not mine!I eventually found it in a carrier bag in the bottom drawer of the filing cabinet! I'm not even going to guess how it got there! However, whist looking, among all the piles of paper dotted around the house, OH has decided that we really must sort it all out! What have I been suggesting for yonks??
As a proud Scot all that talk of porridge makes me go...... YUCK! I cannot stand the stuff, smell, texture anything about it. The best use for porridge oats in my opinion is making flapjacks!
Have enjoyed looking at photos of Brum, thanks to all you posters!

Didn't have them upstairs Qwerty , I take them off before going up the stairs in case I slip with them on as I have done before ,so I was bare footed , our bed goes to the floor but has wheels with little flappy brakes on and I managed to kick that , it hurt and I swore very violently

Qwerty - Oma threw her slippers out because they had a pom pom on them!!!

Oma - honestly, we'll have to take you back to Brum - you didn't get into all that trouble when you were with the rest of us (sensible!!!) grannies.

Zizi - it sounds as though you're having an Oma Day- everything done by 10.30!!!

The memorial service went well. Our friends had rather over-estimated how long it would take us to get there (Pokesdown, Enfys) and parking was fine. We went and got take-out coffees and sat in the sun in the church yard enjoying them. It was quite a long service but not at all solemn - our friend had a great sense of humour and that came across very clearly. There were quite a few people we knew there. I feel very sad for his wife though. She's getting very forgetful and a bit frail and I'm not sure how she will manage on her own. They have a son and a daughter nearby but they both work .... At the wake there was a huge cake decorated with the Welsh Rugby emblem and the Welsh National Anthem around the sides. OH managed to avoid the request for someone to read/sing it!!!
