Unfortunately Nan2 we were forced into it. We didn't want to. Husband was diagnosed with glaucoma which meant he had lost 90% of his peripheral vision )he had been to the same optician since he was a child). Cutting a long story short is driving licence was immediately revoked and it became impossible for me alone to do all the driving associated with our business and after a few trial and errors with employing people etc, we had to close. By this time we were in financial trouble and he went off and got a job at the airport. Public transport was not available for his earliest shifts so I was driving him at 3am and then going to work for a day. In the end with the fatigue, the finances etc. we decided the only thing to do was downsize and move nearer to the airport so he can walk to work if necessary although there are much earlier buses around here. It was hard getting used to it especially as it was more or less forced upon us but we have spent time and money on the flat and have a private garden, off road parking space and garage and live in a block of four maisinettes, no problem neighbours. It has worked out for us as it is so much easier to look after a two bed flat than a sprawling house even though storage is sometimes a problem.

Raining here. It's that kind of rain where you think it's on for the day.
Jacket potatoes in the slow cooker.

ZIZI, i totally understand your reasons for downsizing.

Good Monday morning, Nanto and everyone.

It's dull and a bit dark here, so I'm glad I got out in the garden yesterday. But what could be better to cheer up a dreary Monday morning than waving that hot flat thingy around! Lucky me.

        Have a good day everyone.

          Good morning everyone.

Raining here as well Nan2, but I hope it will clear up. Good day for baked potatoes!

          What fun Daisy!

After a lovely lazy day yesterday of lunch out then catching up with lots of TV while OH is away, today I must be more busy.
Tomorrow is my mums birthday. I am doing lunch here, so must do some shopping for that. I will give the house a good clean, and have client to go to late afternoon.
There will be online time amongst these jobs

              Morning ladies ,
Gem my Mam would have been 98 today I just cant imagine that

Waiting for the plumber the spring loaded plug in the bathroom hand basin has stuck closed and I don't want to force it in case it does more damage , had to empty the sink of water with a sponge , said he will try to get hear between 10 & 2 has other jobs on naturally . B just wanted to get a screw driver under it but he might break something off and then it would be a whole new fitting when it might be something easy to fix .
Its grey wet and dreary hear , the birds are all huddled up in the trees , usually a sign its going to rain all day

                Morning everyone.
Well after a wet day yesterday when everyone else was having a sunny one I think the roles are reversed as others are reporting rain and we have a glorious clear.blue sky and sunshine.
Nothing special planned but as I have now got OH's cold I don't have a lot of get up and go .Haven't had a cold in ages so feeling rather grotty.
OH couldn't have his shingles jab last week due to his cold but I had mine. Now we've had letters about flu jabs but I'll wait to book these until we are both 100%
Gem you're right about baked potatoes on a miserable day,we had them yesterday.
                Hope everyone has good day.

Oma.....have you tried using a plunger to free your plug?

A grey day here and big drops of rain, but off to Art this afternoon, so hopefully that'll cheer me up! I dislike this time of the year intensely! Makes me really fed up with myself!
Enjoy your day whatever you're up to ladies!

I am having a very quiet day to-day after hosting my afternoon tea-party for my new neighbours and old neighbours we had such a nice afternoon and the weather was very kind to us ,it was such a lovely afternoon as my old neighbours and new neighbours all knew each other from when they went to school how extrodinary such a small world they had never bumped into each other either and they are only two Roads away,as usual I made too much food so everyone took home goodie bags for supper and DGSs will have been supplied with extras for their lunch boxes to-day.What a lovely day we had it was a late celebration for my birthday as two of my friends where away for the actual day and I didn't want them to miss out on the get to gether.

Plumber been he had to force it out as the spring load had broken , didn't have the right part so had to order one but at least can use the sink just with running water rather than fill the sink

WG - I feel the same. It's the thought of all those months of winter ahead of us. I do hope your Art class will cheer you up - or get rid of some of your 'fedupness' at least.

Galmm - what a lovely day you had, and I bet eferybody was pleased with their doggie bags. How incredible that the various neighbours have never run into each other before.

Oma - it's always difficult to know whether to have a go yourself or get a proper person in! OH finally put a new cartridge in our ensuite sink. It's needed doing for several weeks, and I had a moan yesterday because I'm fed up with not having hot water in our ensuite. It took him an hour to get the old one out but now it's working better than when it was new!

Clover - enjoy your sunshine. I hope your cold's soon better.

Gem - I hope you get everything done!

I've nearly finished with the hot flat thingy, grab a sandwich and then off to collect GD2. OH, bless him. has gone to the supermarket to save us from starvation - the fridge contains 5 eggs, a lump of cheddar and a few tomatoes!

Very pleasant day here today, quite warm. Went out to meet my friend for coffee this morning, lots of chat . Popped out this afternoon, library and a bit of shopping then home for a cuppa. Had a nice visit from DGD too as she is home for a couple of days.

                            Afternoon ladies

Oma we are having problems with our sink in the bathroom, it's leaking and the plumber can't get here till Wednesday which is slightly inconvenient because when we want to wash our hands now we have to lean over the bath to get to the taps !
I went for a walk earlier on and I was surprised to see a whole bunch of children coming out of school, it was just turned past 2pm . When I got home I looked at the school website and their hours are 8.30 till 2.15 . When I was at school the hours were 9am till 3.30 pm. Taking into account that we used to have a 20 minute break in the morning, an hour for lunch and then another 20min break in the afternoon, they have a short morning break, 30min for lunch and no afternoon break . I would have rather done those hours when I was at school. On a freezing cold afternoon there was nothing worse thatn being shoved outside just to stand around chatting.
Bring me sunshine in your smile.
