Ouch Oma, I hope your sore toe heals soon!

Are you planning a holiday WG?

Dramas outside our house earlier. Someone knocked on the door and asked if a little dog near my garage was mine. I said no I had 3 cats, my neighbours on either side have cats and apart from the (little yappy) dog across the road no dogs live around me. It had been running across the road and we live on quite a dangerous bend. It was very frightened . Lots of people including man with a lead, were trying to catch the poor thing. Eventually the dog and people disappeared out of sight.Someone put it on our local FB group, which I was about to do. I don't know if it has been reunited with the owner, but I hope so!

Off to our friends for games and a nice time soon

Oma I have a little metal kitchen stool which I put a cushion on and use as a footrest. Husband is always managing to kick it even though it has been there for ages. Years ago, well over 40 years ago, I was living in a tiny cold one bed flat and the bedroom was cramped with the bed and the baby's cot. One night I got up to feed him and my goodness it was freezing, I rushed to get back into bed after settling him and kicked the bed leg. In the morning my whole foot was swollen and black. I had broken three toes. I had to wear flip flops for weeks even though it was absolutely freezing outside. I am very good at doing damage to my feet if you remember what with Barbados when I fell off my shoes, Clapham Junction when I stepped if a train badly etc. AND may I say Mrs Oma not a single word of bad language has passed my lips during my various collisions with furniture, pavements, platforms ......🤥🤥

Oh forgot to say that when the new furniture comes I want one of those sofas where the footrest goes up. I cannot remember what they are called. Husband doesn't want one. Hmmmm who will win that one do you think? 🙄🤔

Zizi we have recliners on the sofa Manual ones, and electric recliners on the two arm chairs , I like them but they do make my knees ache after a while they are too straight , plus the electric ones take ages to go down if the door bell goes ,I end up scrambling off when the foot bit is only half way down . B loves them but I wouldn't choose the electric ones again , at least with the manual ones you just press down with your legs and it shuts .
I swore like a trooper when I kicked my toe hahaha

Oma - what would your GS1 do without you! He's a very lucky lad.

Zizi - we've got the same as Oma - electric recliners for the armchairs and manual ones for the two end seats on the sofa.

Although what Oma says about the electric ones is true about them going down slowly, I'd rather have them than the manual ones. You have to press a level on the side to get the manual ones to recline and I find it stiff and difficult. Then when you kick them down you have to kick really hard, and if you don't they bounce back again. So I'd say try before you buy! Also with the electric ones, think about where you can plug them in.

Now, let me see if I can guess who will win - Zizi or her OH????

We Have got new electrics due Daisy. All the holes and wiring are there we are just waiting for the plasterer to come and having sitting room decorated before getting the fronts put on. Currently we have very few sockets but there will be plenty including USB outlets. We aren't having a 3 piece suite. I have ordered some lovely "bucket type" chairs in pale lime green and beige stripes and we are just looking at sofas now. Our new feature wallpaper is very pale green large dandelion heads which look gold in a certain light. Having the two chairs and a small settee will make more room in our sitting room which is multi use as a dining room/office. Once the bunk beds are gone and the bedrooms are finished I will buy a console table and chair in the small bedroom so I can work in there.

Zizi - it sounds fabulous! I love choosing new things for the house, although OH and I rarely agree!! My next big challenge is the hall, stairs and landing. They need decorating very badly and the hall and landing end up as dumping grounds somehow!!

It's a lovely day here and I feel I can get on with loads of little things that are driving me mad in the garden.

                      Have a good day everyone.

Aggie - I know lots of other people who get attached to their furniture, and my OH is one of them! You have what makes you happy. xx

Daisy our hall, stairs and landing have been crying out for a new look for ages. I don't seem to be able to get round to organising to have it done.It doesn't help that OH is and never has been much bothered about the decor. We used to do all our own decorating but I think the hall etc.would be too much of a challenge.

I think Aggie if it makes you happy and you are comfy then you have what you like ,
I like modern furniture but my DD loves anything shabby chic and it looks lovely in her home , shes just had to buy a new sofa and she isn't too keen but the dog ate the back out of her sofa a while ago and she repaired it really well but SIL wants a new one
A lot of young ones in our neck of the woods are buying 1940/50 utility furniture and up cycling it , Its all the rage hear

My furniture is a mish mash of things we bought and acquired from from OH's mother. some new antique looking and some very old antique. I like modern furniture in other peoples houses but my furniture has memories.
