Hope your GS is ok Oma. The story of the young footballers having health checks resonated with us. When he was 12 DGS had his routine diabetic check up and it was discovered that he had a congenital heart problem which had gone unnoticed until then. This resulted in him having open heart surgery to replace a faulty aorta. The doctor said that this is why a lot of young men have problems when playing sport and she thought they should have thorough checks. We are so grateful that she found it as he plays football and we dread to think what might have happened. He is absolutely fine now and has yearly checkups.

edited: just heard, he passed his driving theory test this morning! πŸ˜€

Doggy story Number 3 : P is here for his holidays and earlier we were all out in garden. OH mowing what lawn we have left, me picking up windfall fruit and P burying apples and having a general sniff around. I went round to shed and P followed and went into house while we continued outside. OH went in to get drink and there in the courtyard was P sniffing in next door's borders. All gates to courtyard were closed, next door's back gate and our's shut so there was no way he could have got into courtyard. What we think he's done is gone down the ditch and out onto land at the bottom and then followed the way we usually walk back home. He was panting as if he'd been running so perhaps that's what he'd done. Sometimes dogs are more trouble to look after than children!

Hope J's got over his disappointment at not playing today Oma and thanks for keeping us up to date with LG's news. Tell her I'm thinking of her and her family when next you're in touch please.

Sun shining today but rain expected again tomorrow, hopefully not as heavy as the last couple of times!

      Have a good weekend everyone.
Believe you can and you're halfway there.

Back from shopping.Turned very warm while we were out.

Mimi, didn't go for anything specific, just wanted a change from our hometown.

Went into Bon Marche, after Glamma told us about their sale.
A couple of tops i liked, were sold out in my size, so didn't get anything.

I agree with check-ups for young people playing a lot of sport, the clubs that take on these youngster should have a health check done when they sign them up in my opinion.

Clover - I'd love to know what you finally created with your 'left overs'. I've recently started making frittatas and even served one to our Italian friend the other day. He was very polite about it and dutifully cleared his plate!!

Mimi - we have only just started to pick from most of our tomato plants, and one hasn't got any ripe fruit yet. I hope blight doesn't decimate them now the weather's changed.

Ladies - I'm now worried about just what I might have put in OH's butties this morning!

Oma - may I respectfully refer you to my thread about dodgy knees, and your comments. xxxx

Plant - is it tomorrow you go on holiday? Yes, it's nice to get all the dead heading and tidying up done before you go away, but you can overdo things! I think it was Bob Flowerdew (isn't that a wonderful name for an organic gardener!) who suggested not just dead heading but also taking off the flowers in full bloom as they will 'go over' while you're away and start forming seed, then you come home to lots of nice, fresh newly opening flowers.

Nanto - that's what I usually find when I go to the sales - sold out in my size!!!

WG - it sounds as though your visiting pooch was exploring and wandered a bit too far then got frightened!

And Dog Tale number 4 - Eva has got conjunctivitis. Goodness knows how, but of course it's infectious. I rang the vets this morning for an appointment on Monday, but no appointments at any of their surgeries until Tuesday, and the only time they could offer was 12.15 - right in the middle of the day. So it means I'll have to have the girls and Cooper at their house on Monday, and goodness knows what will happen on Tuesday. Also she hates the vets and I know they'll probably just give her cream for her eyes but they can't give it without seeing her.

                Hello again
We have had a lovely lazy day in town. Just taking it slowly like tourists! We went to the Rose Theatre and got that sorted out (details on that thread) the Theatre Royal to pick up tickets for GD and I to see Secret Garden next week, and for An Inspector Calls which a friend and I will see in September (the night before Birmingham actually!)
We bought sandwiches and water and ate them by the river, we went to M&S to get a voucher for my mum to give her neighbours, had tea and scones in a tea room, looked at few shops, sat near the Minster and listened to the buskers (very good) then caught the bus home.

                Oh poor Eva Daisy
                Naughty dog WG!
Well done to your GS Enfys
Mimi, steam mops may be fine for the likes of you and me, but Oma needs to clean the corners deeply too

                      That looks good, Clover.

its been raining on and off all day, still chilly and the sky is black. What’s with all these naughty dogs! DD told me today that she left a sandwich on a plate on the table and someone stole it......not Dexter, he doesn’t steal food, but Murphy....one of her ginger cats! He only picked the ham out and left the rest, fussy boy πŸ˜€

Clover - that looks delicious. Good choice. It's the sort of dish you'd cook from a fridge overflowing with goodies, and doesn't remotely look like 'leftovers'.

Nanto - I seriously thought about putting the heating on this afternoon, and I did turn on the heated towel rail in the main bathroom - I didn't fancy cold/damp towels tomorrow morning.

Enfys - cats have no conscience about things like that, have they! Mind you - lots of dogs are the same, but they do usually have the grace to look guilty when they get caught!

Gem - what a lovely day you've had. I think it's great when you live in a tourist area to join them for a day sometimes. When I go into our village in the summer and see all the holidaymakers it makes me feel I'm on holiday, too.

After my hectic week I woke at 8am & OH brought me breakfast in bed. I was looking on the net but felt sleepy. The next thing I remember was waking at just gone 3pm. 😲 Turning my fone off now to get some beauty sleep, (I need it).
