Hope the results from hospital are good, Oma.

its been lovely and sunny here and not cold today, but it’s been another restful day. Had a quick tidy round this morning, sorted out my wardrobe and filled a bag for the charity shop. DH had a walk around the garden and is fed up he's been told to take it easy this week and is not used to doing nothing. I’m watching him like a hawk as I caught him wheeling the bin out this morning!

Well well well Oma are you falling down on the job??

I have packed, he has packed, no he got his stuff out and I was so impatient with the way he was stuffing everything in that I did it for him. Probably did it on purpose if I know him. Had a busy day. At the clinic the receptionist told me my wait would be ten minutes max, one in with the nurse, one in front of me. All of a sudden there was a right commotion. A woman was complaining because she had just come down from the doctor for a blood test and was told the wait would be fifteen minutes. Her take was that she is paying privately and she shouldn’t have to wait, well it is a private clinic dear so we are all paying regardless of mine being on my work insurance. She was so quite rude to the young man receptionist. I went and told him she could go before me as she was sitting there huffing and puffing and complaining. He said that I didn’t have to do that but I said I would rather do that than listen to her! When she went in and came out he came to get me to take me in. He thanked me for letting her go first and said that he noticed she didn’t even say thank you which is true she did not!

So now I have had a bubbly bath, washed my hair, am in my PJs and fluffy big jumper and only have make up and daily stuff to pack. I think I might award myself a glass of wine. I won’t open a bottle of bubbles as we have to be up early and I haven’t been drinking much recently at all so if I open a bubble bottle I may end up with a headache in the morning. We are going to Gatwick on the coach and I am a little bit prone to coach sickness so don’t want to do anything to bring that on.

Zizi it works like any other post, ie it comes up in New posts, but only Patinum members can see it. It’s not the Blog facility. If you look under Creative Grannies/Journals you will see some of us have started jotting things down under our usernames.

It’s got the same privacy settings as YEO, so feel free to write whatever you wish - it would be great if you fancy starting one, the more the merrier. 😀👍😘

And of course you can use your journal in whatever way you want. 😁

Im just cooking dinner so will be back later when OH has gone out.

Not a bad day here, quite mild. Had a very enjoyable aqua class, left early to join GD1 at the cinema to see Murder on the Orient Express. Well, your must make up your own minds but I must say I was a bit disappointed. It was directed by Kenneth Branagh he played Poirot like a Shakespearean role, very overacted. I didn't want him to copy Donald Suchet also I didn't think we heard enough from the supporting actors, it was definitely the Kenneth Branagh show.

I am sure Zizi is getting very excited, not long now.

I hope your OH is feeling better today Qwerty, does the weather affect his depression?

Enfys, it sounds as if you are sitting back and taking things quietly now your OH is home.

I called in to John Lewis to get a gift voucher for GS1 and partner for Christmas, bought a jumper and a nightdress for me too, oh dear I should be buying for others.

Plant I am very much looking forward to the holiday. We are all packed and it is very serene in this household. It is going to be icy tomorrow early morning which blew a hole in the plan to wear light jackets but we are taking a small leather travel bag to stuff our jackets into once we get to the airport and check it in. We have a business class allowance for weight which is quite a lot, I think 33kgs each as opposed to 23kgs for economy so do not need to worry about excess baggage. Even if we do not ultimately get BC (but of course we hope we do) it doesn’t matter that much after all we have paid peanuts for the tickets so can not possibly complain.

Gem thanks for the information but I do have to say I have never noticed a journal post. I shall have to have a bit of a delve and see what is going on. I might do a journal regarding my holiday. We will have free wi fi in the bungalow we have rented but in Barbados the signal is frequently very weak so we will see how it works.

                        hope your headache goes soon.

Nothing worse than a headache that and toothache, paracetomol and rest hopefully would clear it

Plant the weather bothers him a bit only because it’s miserable and stops him doing jobs but don’t think that is the cause, he hasn’t had a brilliant childhood a lovely lovely mum but dad a typical miner worked hard and drank hard, that’s why I think he would be better chatting to someone who has gone through similar

Zizi we go away on Tuesday it’s around 25 deg at the moment and I don’t know what to go in neither we have to be at airport at 7 am so a 6 am start for the journey to airport it’s going to be pretty damned cold , jacket or thick cardigan , daddy or chips ??? Have a good holiday we are back December 1st woo hoo

Plant - It's not cats that are the problem for feeding the birds it's the bullying, aggressive Magpies and Jackdaws. The cats keep out of the way! OH is going to make little roofs on the feeders too low for the big bully birds to get in. I use squirrel-proof hanging feeders and feed fat balls in a container in the front garden, close to a large conifer to give cover for the small birds. No wonder your GD was tired - that's a really early start!

Mimi - I really don't know how you keep finding yourself in these pubs at lunch-time! I wish you'd share your secret.

WG - what a pity your kindness to your neighbour meant you missed your walk in the sun.

Qwerty - I'm glad you're having a quieter day - you've certainly earned a bit of a rest. There's an ELO DVD released today - "Wembley or Bust" - it says on their website. I had a look at the tour venues, and there's nothing further south than London! Is your OH open to the idea of finding someone who has had similar experiences in his childhood - if so it might help him.

Oma - have I missed something? You said you've had no results from B's blood for 7 weeks - I hope that's good, but I'm a bit confused.

Plant - even though the film was a bit disappointing, I'm sure you enjoyed your GD1's company.

Zizi - Glad you're all packed up, ready to go and relaxing. Here's the link to the Journals section - it would be great to have one of your holiday.

Zizi and Qwerty - I don't think you can beat a good thick cardi for the cold bits of travelling - you can always roll it up and use it as an extra cushion during the flight as well. But jacket or cardigan - it's a nice dilemma to have, because it means it's going to be nice and warm on holiday and you won't need it again until you're on your way back.

I had a lovely lunch out with friends from College. There were only 4 of us today (it can vary between 2 and 12!) and one of them was a friend I hadn't seen recently, so it was nice to catch up with all his news. The weather was beautiful and quite warm. The sea was like a mill pond and visibility was fantastic. OH and his friend spent the day with chainsaws and log splitters and the friend restacked our log pile for us, practising his dry stone walling skills at the same time. It's much neater now and we've got a good supply for the winter! OH has promised to go and empty the trailer tomorrow, before going to DS2's shop to take some of their junk down to the tip, and the weather forecast is good (well dry, at least) so I can do some tidying up while the trailer is out of the way and try and finish off getting the weeds out of the cracks in the patio and paths. Not my favourite job, but the bits I've done look so much better.

I am going to be in jeans, camisole, rather lovely creaseproof striped long shirt and thick long cardigan with long waterproof jacket over the top and a scarf. Flat shoes too. Cardigan and jacket in little checked in bag once we are in the warmth of the terminal.

I'm fine now thanks Ladies. I'm off to the Granny's Rest for glass of wine

I want to see that film Plant, so I will let you know what I think about it.

No hospital for 4 weeks Oma. Good stuff!

Keep an eye on that hubby Enfys!

Qwerty and Zizi, I am excited for you! Both of you need and deserve these holidays.

I'm glad you had a nice lunch Daisy. You can't beat a good lunch and catch up with friends!

Well we didn't go to see my sister. Mum had one of her 'dodgy tummys'. Code for not wanting to do something. She's rather like a child who doesn't want to go to school!! Whilst not admitting that it wasn't true, she did say that as DD3 came for tea (bringing it with her) a couple of days ago, she didn't want anything else on this week! This whilst eating a raspberry and custard doughnut by the way We shall, hopefully see my sister next Thursday. Mum has a blood test on Monday so hopefully that won't make too many things in one week!!
