Good heavens its cold outside this morning. So far I have put out the bins and fed our neighbours cat and that's as far as I am going today. The pavements are very slippy so I am not tempting fate !

Gem how is the family? This sickness bug seems to be ever where at the moment.

To all who are not feeling 100% today x
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

You will be glad you are all at the other end of the internet to me!
Now our family count is 10. My mum had started with it during the night, and I started an hour or so ago,
I have phoned the hospital as my pre op assessment was tomorrow morning at 8.15. Although OH and I may be well enough to go, I didn't want us to spread this nasty thing around the hospital;. They have moved it to 3pm the day before the op.
OH is asleep which is probably the best thing. I have dozed all day but feel more awake now I have actually been sick.

Very wise to get in touch with the hospital Gem, no good passing bugs on.
Hope all the family members are feeling better soon.

I woke this morning very late for me (9.15) with swollen glands, cough that would make a fifty a day smoker proud and my "undercarriage" problems reminding me it is still there. Consequently we haven't done a single thing we had agreed to do, no popping out, no looking for new furniture etc. In fact I have spent the entire day doing absolutely bruddy nothing. Tomorrow hopefully I will not be wheezing and Coughing and will pick up where we should have been today.

My line manager has said he will do my PDR by Skype to save me going on the tube in the 3rd January but I am going to try to go up to town and do it in person. I think I can. I will let you know,

Gem hope all is OK with you and yours I think you were right to contact the hospital. It wouldn't be good to go and infect already poorly people with more germs. We had to get used to this when Ben was little and so frail. One little bit of too much sitting on the loo and that was it, no contact for three days.

Oma I hope B is get get there and I hope everyone else is either recovering or living it up!!

Oh also I sat here and checked the bank accounts. We have two current accounts, both joint, his salary has gone in and mine will be in on Friday at which point I will move money. I checked the second account and there were three transactions I asked him about (he is a Groupon fiend recently). No he did not recognise any transaction I told him about. I pointed out that on the main account there were no Groupon transactions so have a think and where were the invoices? His answer was he chucks the invoices. WHAT? I have a drawer full of invoices that do not get shredded until six months after they are issued and for big items not even then. So after a while we established that all three transactions were his. One was my new iPad. He does make things hard work sometimes...........

Just surfacing after 3 really busy days. I got most of my Boxing Day jobs done - at least nobody was going to starve - but yesterday morning was hectic finishing off things you can't do too early. Everyone started arriving on the dot of 12, and had a good laugh at OH and me in our silly Christmas jumpers. DS2 had given them to us and his parents in law on Christmas day with instructions to wear them yesterday - they all had them too. So guess who didn't turn up in theirs yesterday! DS2 and DIL are officially condemned to go to work in their silly jumpers next week!!!

It was a lovely day, but very busy and somehow I kept losing my wine glass - I'd forgotten to put my name tag on it - the one that Qwerty gave me a couple of years ago. That'll teach me to remember.

DS1 and family stayed overnight, and even GS1 didn't get up until nearly 9 am. So we've had a lazy start to the day, with bacon and egg butties for brunch. I never usually run out of essentials, but today OH had to go into the village for eggs, bread and milk! GS1 had a drone and a Go-pro for Christmas and after brunch he, OH and DS1 went out to fly it - he took some excellent video with it even though it was a bit windy. They've now gone home and OH and I are doing nothing at all. The rest of the clearing up can wait until tomorrow! We've had a lovely family Christmas and feel very blessed.

Gem - I'm so sorry to hear about your horrible lurgy, but at least the hospital has been able to rearrange your pre-op appointment. I hope it's just a 24 hour bug and you will be ok tomorrow - your OH and your Mum too.

Zizi - poor you! You definitely need a bit of 'down' time, doing nothing. My OH gets frustrated when I can't remember transactions - although sometimes, they do turn out to be his!

Oma - are the decorations for next year or will you put them up for New Year? They sound a good bargain.

The good thing about doing lots of food for visitors is that there are left overs, so I'm just going to have a look to see what there is in the fridge so I don't have to cook tonight!

Late logging on today, poor hubby is really poorly with his cold and cough. He went to bed for 2 hours this afternoon, which is unheard of for him. Tomorrow is T's 7th birthday, not sure hubs is up to going out for the family meal, we will wait and see.Sorry for those with the tummy bug, that is something we can do without. Its been really cold here the last 2 days, hopefully it will kill off some of these persistent nasty bugs.

I have just watched (with "train in tunnel" accompaniment from husband complete with mouth wide open) Ethel and Ernest on BBC 1. I thought it was lovely, really charming and brought back memories of things I thought I had forgotten, I won't say what so as not to spoil for others. Definitely something to watch. One of those things that you think you probably wouldn't enjoy but end up being glad you watched. It is the story of Raymond Briggs who wrote The Snowman and he also wrote another animated short story which I cannot remember the name of but it was about a nuclear war (When the Wind Blows comes to mind but I am not sure).

My TV viewing is sporadic to say the least. I have the TV on during the day, even when I am working, to keep me company. I have no idea what is actually on because it usually only has the sound on very low unless there is something specific going on and then I will have the news channel on. I do sometimes watch the soaps but an hopeless in keeping up with what is going on.
