Maybe the problem is that husband and I never give opinions (well rarely) and keep our heads down, don't tell them when there is something happening in our lives so they don't know that we have any stresses or strains because we keep it to ourselves.

I have youngest girls tomorrow for just 3 hours, DD has a meeting she cannot opt out of. I have wrapped all my presents, we will do a quick shop on Friday for bits and bobs as we are eating out over Christmas we do not need much. I am making homemade truffles on Friday for all the family and some shortbread. Hope I shake off the cold I have picked up, woke with a sore throat, have been drinking, honey and lemon by the gallon , already on antibiotics for a chest infection. Always on Christmas but just have to carry on don't we."What doesn't kill us,makes us stronger."

LG - I do hope your cold clears up quickly. As you say, we just have to carry on.
I'm totally exhausted after 4 days of grandchildren. Much as I love them all, they've worn me out. To make it harder OH hasn't been around to help the last two days, but DS2 and DIL are under so much pressure at work that I offered to keep the girls later than usual and give them their bath. Their other granny isn't well, and I might have to have them tomorrow as well, which means OH will have to take Eva to training on his own. We need to do a decent supermarket shop for the family gathering on the 27th and I'm dreading the crowds whichever day we go. I think we're mad, but we've decided to go on Thursday or Friday very early, like while it's still dark! OH has always resisted online shopping, but I think he's about to change his mind, although it will be too late for this Christmas!
I'll try and catch up properly with everyone tomoorw.

Morning ladies so cold and frosty
Daisy we always go shopping early I hate the crowds , I'm going across to Aldi for them opening at 8 and doing Asda in the morning . Don't need a lot and as his lordship hasn't any taste buds at the minute he isn't eating as much so no point getting lots in , also we not having everyone around this year we will do it when he's on the mend ,
Libra hope that cold isn't any worse

Hello, it's the shortest day of the year, or the longest night, however you want to look at it.
Beautiful E-card, thank you.
Hope the cold goes quickly Libra.
Daisy, you will soldier on, as we always do.
Hope you had a good time with friends last night Gem.

Thank you so my for my lovely ecard.
Nanto I was just about to write on here that it is the shortest day today......Or as my dad would have said ...."It gets late early "
It's officially winter now !
Roll on spring.
Had a very busy yesterday with our two youngest GSs. I have never known a baby chuckle so much when he is having his nappy changed. Of course with chubby arms and legs waving all ver the place nanny just had to blow raspberries on his tubby tummy. Can there be anything more perfect. After he was all changed I snuggled him into my arms and he went off to sleep and he slept for nearly 3 hours . DD said he is such a content happy baby unlike his older brother who wouldn't sleep much and constantly fidgeted and he is still the same now at the age of 6 .
DD has asked me ideas for veg sides to serve with our Christmas dinner. She is looking for something different. Better put my thinking cap on .
Have a nice day ladiesBring me sunshine in your smile.

Good morning all.
I love the shortest day! Being a winter hater just the thought of nights becoming slightly shorter cheers me up.
Go away colds, so many people have them just now. I hope everyone is free of them by Christmas
Mimi my baby grandson is a cute giggler. As you say nothing could be happier! I keep one of his smiliest photos in sight, as it never fails to lift my spirits.
Daisy, no wonder you are exhausted!
An easy day for me today. I am meeting a friend in town for lunch, as we do every Christmas. I have present wrapping to finish, not much else that urgently needs doing.
Have a good day everyone“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

Raining here cats and dogs, ugh hate wet weather give me cold and dry anytime. Brian has offered to walk the dog bless him, save me from getting wet through. We both have waterproofs but somehow it creeps through. Girls later for a few hours. Keep warm and dry ladies. BL great news about your sons imminent home coming.

Good morning everyone.
I'm feeling much better after a good night's sleep, and the other Gran is well enough to have the girls this morning, and the other Grandad will have them this afternoon. Dog training will be relatively relaxing.
LG - it's wet here too - horrible! I hope you're feeling a bit better.
Plant - you can't beat home made mince pies. Did anyone see that programme on tv last night about factory made mince pies. the sheer scale of the operation was unbelievable! It will be lovely to catch up with your GD. You must have missed her. x
Nanto - how lovely to have a completely 'new' room in time for Christmas. If you take any photos can you show us?
Oma - I really hate the crowds as well. Going early to our nearest Sainsbury's means 6 am and it's a 20 minute journey. Hardly worth going to bed the night before!!! I'll be glad when it's done.
Mimi - what a scrummy, gorgeous baby. No there's nothing better than that sleepy cuddle.

Got to ALDI for spot on 8 am it was packed there was already queues at the tills , they had opened at 7.30 to let people shop before tills opened . Got what I needed and walked home , only 5 minutes walk but felt like 5 miles with heavy bags , potatoes and milk are heavier than you think on top of everything else , was going to pop in M&S as I passed but couldn't carry another bag , I'm shattered now , Just got home in time for GS1 arriving so emptied bags then started on his breakfast he wanted Sausage & Bacon not what I wanted to stand and do but what our grandchildren want is what we give them don't we 😀 His other Grandad picking him up at 12 to take him to the fire station he was Fire Chief at they doing some kind of fire demonstrationIm not fat just 6ft too small

Gosh Oma, all those early shoppers!!
Daisy this is the frst year since I had my own home in my early 20's, that I haven't made mince pies. Last year I made mincemeat for the first time. I intend to again next year. This year we have bought ones, and it feels really odd not having made any.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown
