Nana - indeed, Gem is home and enjoying her coffee, thank goodness.
Plant - that's a good idea. I used to belong to the WI years ago and it was a very nice social place to go, plus lots of interesting talks, events, crafts and all sorts of outings etc which you could also take partners to.
In fact, I'm seriously thinking about joining in our current village. I think Townswomen's Guilds offer similar activities, too.

Good morning everyone.
As I said elsewhere , a sore throat is keeping me awake. This is due to the tube they put down during the operation, and not unexpected. I think I did get 2 to 3 hours sleep over the night though. I will snooze later today I think.
My day will be a mixture of tv , reading and internet I think, and my beloved Archers omnibus on catch up. Punctuated by walking about, as it's not good to lie around all the time after surgery!
I think we will get my mum over for a couple of hours on Friday, but today I'm rather hoping for no visitors

Gem, Shhhhhh, no talking now.
Oma ,good luck in the early morning traffic, now it's back to school plus this horrible weather the roads will be busy. Hope everything goes well at the hospital.
Im going stir crazy here as I haven't been out now for almost a week which is unheard for me . This bug myself and OH seem to have gone down with just will not shift itself. It's the cough that is the worse when it starts up there is no stopping it. I've got my MRI scan on Monday and I haven't a clue how I am going to lie still for that !
Oh, I tell a lie, I have been out, I've been popping upstairs to my neighbours to feed their cats !
Have a a good day everyone, try and keep warm.Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Good morning everyone.
Oma - I hope the journey wasn't too bad to the hospital. It's very cold and frosty here, but will hopefully warm up a bit later on.
Mimi - poor you. It sounds a nasty bug and that persistent cough really wears you out. Are you taking anything for it? If you think you won't be able to lie still for your MRI scan it might be worth asking the doctor if he can give you something just for that day to help calm the cough. I know how you feel when you can't get out. Sometimes I'm just happy to have a few days at home, but if you are stuck at home feeling poorly all you want to do is feel well enough to go out somewhere.
Gem - definitely, you need a day of resting, recuperating and regaining your strength. It sounds as though you've got a few restful treats lined up. Did they give you anything or suggest anything to ease your sore throat? As Oma says - shhhhhhhhh! But it's lovely to see you on here. xxx
Nanto - I hope you're having a smooth journey and the sun is still shining for you down in Benidorm.
I'm meeting friends for coffee and lunch today. Sadly our poorly friend isn't well enough to join us, but they have had family staying over Christmas and I think she needs to rest a bit now.
Yesterday, I finally managed to arrange for two pairs of friends to come for lunch at the end of this month. It's been really difficult to arrange as I can't do Mon, Tues or Wed, one of our friends works Tues and Thurs, and the other friends have the busiest social life I've ever seen, plus lots of holidays, plus often going to their daughter's in school hols to look after their GD. I was just about to send an email confirming it to everyone when OH got the date for a dear friend's funeral - yes, same day, same time. He's been asked to be part of the guard of honour and in any case he wouldn't want to not go. Lots of phone calls and emails later I managed to re-arrange lunch for mid-February! Thank goodness that worked or it would have been the end of March! I suppose we should be grateful we don't find retirement boring.
