Zizi what a horrible shock for you and your OH, I hope your window gets sorted out soon. Did you inform the police about the attempted break in ?
Oma sorry to hear about Brian's chemo, how is he feeling today.

Well here's proof if proof is needed ..... I can confirm that housework is bad for you. I was cleaning the bathroom this morning , bent down to clean the loo and my back went into spasms, OH had to come and help me stand upright !

My back is now in agony, but I am certain it had nothing to do with being out in the garden yesterday doing odd little jobs, like moving some planters so that I could sweep up some leaves !

Mimi - You definitely should give up on housework. It's very bad for vulnerable backs. Gardening is therapeutic though. I hope your back eases quickly.

After a dry start, it's now pouring with rain - and there I'd hoped to tidy up a bit - rearranging pots etc in the garden now the workmen have finished. Hey ho! It will have to wait! It means I've got no excuse to ignore the fur gathering in balls around the house as Eva sheds her winter coat!

Oma - give Brian a big hug from all us Grannies. xx

Zizi - it makes you wonder what constitutes a 'crime' these days. Last Friday DIL2 was coming out of school with GD1 who had gone on slightly ahead with 2 friends. She stopped and waited for her mum by the pedestrian crossing (they stay on the same side). The green man was lit and the beeper was sounding, and the other 2 children started to cross (with their mums) and a car failed to stop, hit one of the children and continued down the road. DIL said the sound was sickening as the little boy was hit by the offside wing mirror, bounced onto the bonnet and into the road. Fortunately, he was 'only' bruised and shocked, but DS2 was talking to his Dad today and it looks as though the driver will only have to take a Driver Awareness course!

Oma - the driver didn't stop! There were plenty of witnesses who got his number and another driver tried to follow him but got stopped by the Lollipop lady. Even if he didn't see the red light, I can't understand how this moron didn't see the children crossing - they had come from his nearside and were half way across when he hit the little boy.

That's shocking Daisy, thank goodness the child wasn't seriously hurt, it could have been much worse.

We are looking forward to seeing DGD tomorrow; she is winging her way back home from her solo, trip to Australia. She had a great time with DS, they looked after her really well , took her to so many places ...she walked the Sydney Harbour Bridge too! It was her 21st birthday present from them . Can't wait to see her again

Mimi yes we did phone the police but they were completely disinterested which was a bit disappointing. We have been burgled twice here in fifteen years and it was very upsetting so I was housebound today but I have plenty of work to do. I am very proud of myself as I have written an excel spreadsheet which adds up random columns and rows and it works!!! YAY! I cannot say it wasn't without a couple of naughty words under my breath but thankfully it will make a part of my work easier. I have often tried to do fancy stuff with spreadsheets but lost patience. I am sure if a whizz kid (or a nine year old) looked at my masterpiece they would completely pull it to bits but I am a bit chuffed with myself.

I have also rewritten the script for my "Building Sites Are Not Playgrounds" film which I am making on 28th February. I am having trouble finding the children to be in it. They need to come from the Camden, London area but the schools appear reluctant to put anyone forward. I have all the necessary safeguarding qualifications and the required enhanced DBS, there is no question that parents/guardians can accompany the children, it is on a closed site (Sunday) and the children will not actually be on site, we are going to mock everything up and superimpose things.

Can I just say admin that I keep getting messages such as "invalid server response" when I am typing not sending, and also something about human verification. Last time I looked in the mirror was early this morning and I must admit I did not look quite human but I swear I am

Daisy that is a terrible story. What is the matter with people who do not stop for children? Disgraceful.

I got that as I was typing my story Zizi that is one of several reasons I didn't make it longer

                            Daisy that is truly appalling

Oma, I'm sorry OHs chemo has to be delayed.

Zizi, I'm sorry about the attempted break in, see my other thread about my mums experience yesterday.

Oma, Zizi, I get that message too. We will look into it.
Oma, maybe write your story elsewhere if you want it longer, then copy and paste. I wish I had done this from my start with my Moving On story, as it looks very untidy with some typed direct and some pasted. Btw, that was a LONG story. I'm not sure anyone actually got to the end of it, so don't worry about a story being too long

GS all day today, good fun as always !

We had a really good day in London yesterday. We left home just before 9 to get the bus into town for the train. A direct train to Kings Cross had us there in less than 2 hours. We went to St Pauls, where we had a good look round, and I had a little thought for Princess Diana, on her wedding day. We climbed up to the Whispering Gallery ,and I actually stayed there for a while reading while OH went right to the top!!

We then walked over the Millennium Bridge, looked at some of the Love Locks on there, and went to The Globe theatre. I had hoped that touring it would be enough and would stop me wanting to see a show there. It made me want to even more!! Wonderful place From there we went to Covent Garden, by tube as our legs were tired. We went to the Cambridge Theatre to book tickets to see Matilda in May

I hate the tube at rush hour always have so I didn't enjoy the short ride back to Kings Cross. OH, having never lived in London finds it a novelty

We grabbed a bite to eat on Kings Cross, then caught the quiet 7.30 train home. Back in the house by 10.15. Tired, aching legs but having had a lovely day!

Daisy, so pleased the little boy in the accident wasn't hurt more than he was.It could have ended so tragically.
Enfys, enjoy seeing your GD tomorrow.

Sound like you had a wonderful day Gem.
