Good morning everyone.
We have GD staying, as her parents have gone on their annual romantic anniversary night away She spent a long time yesterday making them a beautiful anniversary card (much glitter etc everwhere )
She loves Strictly, and was desperate for Jay and Aliona to win, so much celebration last night. We let her stay up to see it all (she had her bath in the gap between programmes) So she is quite tired this morning!
She will be going around lunch time, then I have to visit my mum.“A grandchild fills a space in your heart that you never knew was empty.” – Unknown

We've got all the family coming for a Roast today (except DIL who has to work) but this year she has Christmas Day off (her first!!) being a Midwife is hard work at the best of times what with working 12 hour shifts, but being 6 months pregnant as well makes it doubly hard, especially as some days/nights she doesn't even get time to take a drink! Will be a busy afternoon the boys are going to move the chicken run - with the aid of gs no doubt...... hope they remember their wellies.Grandmothers are just antique little girls - author unknown

I bought some mince pies from th baker last week and they were delicious. Someone gave me some M&S mince pies this week and they are not a patch on the bakers ones. I am going the early 23rd to get fresh bread so will buy some more mince pies. The M &S ones were dry compared to the bakers.
Made a lovely (if I say so myself) moussaka for dinner last night and put two in the freezer in foil pots. I had spare cheese sauce which is going on the cauliflower cheese we are having with beef joint today for dinner. If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together

Christmas preparations have been put on hold in the Daisy household - we've spent all day with Eva (see 'New member of the Family' thread) - and have only managed to decorate the tree in the hall. I haven't got the GDs tomorrow (the other Granny has kindly offered to have them) so I'm hoping to catch up a bit. There's a lot to do, but I've convinced myself (very quickly) that there's no point in flogging myself to death to do housework with 4 huge, muddy paws leaving their mark everywhere.
I have to decorate the Christmas cake, make more mince pies, decorate a chocolate log, wrap presents, and fortunately, I can't think what else needs doing ....

I made another 24 mince pies today, took a dozen through to next door, stored the rest in the hope I will not need to make any more, ha ha. GD home from university, DD on holiday from her job so I will have some company. No bowls this week or swimming, old pool closing new one opening in the new year. What is life if full of care we have no time to stand and stare
