Funny you say you had a power cut today, my in-laws did.It was off for quite a few hours.

Clover - how annoying that you weren't warned. We get quite a lot of power cuts, although not as many as we used to, and I got so fed up with trying to reset the microwave clock that I gave up. There's a clock on my kitchen radio and a 'proper' clock on the wall. The only one I leave for OH to reset is the boiler one.

Qwerty - it does you good to have a bit of pampering!

OH finished painting the living room late last night. Fortunately he didn't wash the brushes because there's a fair bit of touching up to do today, all those odd bits where you can't tell whether it's drying or missed. In this case they were mostly missed. But bless him, he's worked really hard on it for 2 long days.

I've found part of a packet of Lux flakes in the back of a cupboard so I'm going to wash our leather sofa and chairs as per Oma's advice.

Morning ladies , Daisy you will be amazed what comes off them , remember lots of suds and either a clean white cloth or a old tea towel to dry with 😊 Got DS and children coming for lunch then I'm having a nap after they go before I start prep for my decorating , didn't go to bed till 5.45 and was up again at 8 so feeling rather drained . Just put a Brisket joint in to slow cook not a great fan of red meat but I do like Brisket , will do veg and Yorkshire puds later

Oma - thanks. I do like lots of bubbles when I'm cleaning anything, so I'll be in my element!! I've got plenty of old white tea towels.

You must be shattered after so little sleep, but lunch sounds yummy. Don't overdo the decorating ifyou're feeling tired. xx We've now done a proper daylight inspection of the living room walls and decided they need a second coat. OH has gone off to get more paint!

Oma, I hope you sleep better tonight.

The launderette didn't go well. We needed, according to the man, 2 large machines- one each for the duvet and the mattress topper cover. Neither were free for some time. He was really unhelpful, gathering any information from him was like getting blood from a stone. So, we packed up our washing again and came home!! We have Googled, and there are a couple of other launderettes in the area, so we will try one of those next week.
The meal with our friends last night was lovely though. Great to be cooked for, and we had lots of laughs, and didn't leave until midnight

OH golfing this afternoon, then out again for a golf club meal tonight, so I'll be home alone quite a bit. I intend to get a head start on the family lunch for 10 tomorrow!

Gem - how disappointing for your OH when she was looking forward to the laundrette so much. I hope the next one you go to is better. At least the meal with friends was fun. Good luck with your preparations for your big family lunch.

Daisy, OH said she had never been so disappointed since she visited the newly opened Screwfix store a few years ago, and discovered it was a catalogue only place, with no 'interesting' items to look at!!

I am doing a Sunday roast tomorrow. Roast pork etc, Quorn roast for DD1 and GS1. I usually get the mashed potatoes and mashed swede (my mums favourite) done the day before, and maybe the cheese sauce for the broccoli. I usually make the pudding ahead too. This time I have cheated. Mr Tesco has provided a trifle and a lemon meringue pie, and there is ice cream if the children prefer it.
I will set the table today too, it makes for a more relaxing Sunday morning

Well my babies come in from swimming lessons and oldest said , Nana I'm starrrrrvingggg !!! Yes son your wasting away arnt you 😉
made them lunch and they both cleared there plates so they must have been hungry , I took Sophia saddles off and we had quite a chat about her stinky toes that she claimed she had and I kept having to pretend to faint at the smell hahaha , she had a good long conversation about nursery and the Irish boy and girl from Pakistan playing candy crush with her DS said they must have been learning about different places come from as it was the first he had heard of it, but her little friend was from Pakistan . As for Candy crush where she got that bit is a puzzle as it's not really a child's game
when we were seeing them out DS noticed he had a flat tire so we had one of these gadgets that blow them up using the cigar lighter socket Brian took it out of the boot turned around and promptly fell over ,his bad leg gave way , he was ok he went down quite elegantly considering like a ballerina turn and flop , kids thought it was funny 😊
Off to do a pile of ironing now get it out of way and start painting in the morning when I feel fresher
