Quite sunny here, everyone very late getting up today. We are going down to the front of Carbis Bay, where we are staying. Our house is very high up for the lovely view but it is a steep walk down. We are having cocktails later I am told and we have to eat up the leftovers. Tomorrow we are booked into a Tapas Bar.

Gem, thank goodness you've got the paperwork now, but it was wise to put your Mum's funeral off for a week, and the children being in school will be one less concern. I'm generally in favour of children being allowed to attend a funeral if it is what they want, but so much depends on the child. Not an easy decision at a difficult time.

Lizzie, I'm sure that train crash must be awful. I only saw a few pictures, but so sad. Your GDs certainly had a great time with you - lots of different things. Well done to GD2 on her clay dolls. It must take quite a bit of patience to model them. I'm glad you found your earring eventually.

Plant, I hope the mist cleared up for you. Sometimes it just settles for the whole day, doesn't it. I wonder if your GS3 and his friends will change their minds about having a family in years to come. They are still relatively young, but it's so sad that they are even thinking like that. I wish we could make the planet a healthier, better cared-for place.

WeeGranny, no wonder you were drained after the funeral. It must have been emotional anyway, and a Welsh male voice choir is very moving.

Lovely sunny day today, not very hot. Dil and GS walked to St. Ives, DS and I got a taxi and met them at lunch time. The beach was lovely not too busy and we found a nice restaurant overlooking the beach for a tapas lunch. We stopped in The Sloop (famous pub) on the front and waited for a taxi to take us back. If you know St. Ives, it is not a place to take a car. We are going down to our nearest sea front for cocktails before dinner which is now being cooked by DS from all the left over food as we are eating out tomorrow our last day.

Gemini, Pleased to hear you have now been able to book the funeral. Have any of the older GC expressed a wish to attend the funeral?

Hello, everybody. I promise I haven't just got up!

In fact we were up at 7 am and our visitors from Germany arrived at 8.15. It's the first time OH and I had met them, and they are such a charming and lovely family - Mum, Dad and their 14 year old son. Their older son, who is GS1's friend is away at university. We had a leisurely breakfast and conversation went well thanks to their good English, DIL's smattering of German and online translations. The weather was dry so after breakfast we went off for a walk in the Forest. It was quite busy with being school holidays, but the sun came out and suddenly everything looked more spring-like. We then went to see the largest tree in the Forest, and to a deer sanctuary, hoping to see at least two sorts of deer. The deer clearly hadn't been informed, and were elsewhere! By then we were ready for a drink and drove deeper into the Forest, only to find the pub we were aiming for was closed. Luckily the next one was open - a proper Old Forest pub. We were ready for a sit down, a drink and packet of crisps. We drove through some of the best views in the Forest, and with the gorse a blaze of yellow, everywhere looked good. They have now all gone to DS1 and DIL1's and we have had a cup of tea and put our feet up for an hour!

Plant, I'm sure you were all pleased that the sea mist has gone, and you've got sunshine. Have a lovely evening.

Mimi, that's still a very large increase in your standing charge! I'm so sorry it's been a disappointing week for you. I think your surgery are treating you very badly, and I would definitely ask them if they realise what they've done, especially if the itchiness keeps you awake at night. I hope they can give you an appointment quickly after messing you about. Sometimes families just don't stop and think, do they. I'm sure they are all very busy, but they do also need to stop and have a break. Fingers crossed the weather is good so you can get all those jobs done in the garden. Is it ok if I drop off all our dirty pots for a quick wash? What seeds are you sowing?

Gem, I'm sure baby E has been a complete delight, but thank goodness S was there to help you. Very happy 7th Birthday to your GS2. It doesn't seem that long since he was the baby of your family.

Lizzie, did you get the rain?

Oma, this breathlessness must be horrible, and knowing you, frustrating as well. I'm sure you're keen to get on with your normal routine of jobs, but you really must take it easy. A quiet Easter week-end sounds the best idea. Relax and take care of yourself. How was MIL today? I hope she didn't give B a hard time.

Daisy, we certainly got the rain! The balcony got the rinse it needed. You would enjoy showing the German visitors around the New Forest.

Oma, you do right to take it easy.

I went to the better moving class, we had almost finished, laid out on the mats when the lady giving the lesson almost collapsed! I thought it was the microphone playing up when she suddenly vanished! When I sat myself up I realised what was happening, 2 of the ladies who were at the front got her something to drink and she recovered, she was shaken though, we all were, it has never happened before to her so a shock for her as well as us, she has no idea why it happened. She finished the class, we told her she needn't have bothered, it was the relaxing part of it so that may have helped her to recover. She seemed fine but shaken after the class, I hope she has fully recovered now.

Hi everyone I don't seem to have the energy to reply to everything, but be assured I have read everything!

Sadly all the relevant paperwork HASN' T actually arrived so we can't register the death until after the bank holiday. Deaths are supposed to be registered in 5 days. We have spent the day, as well as looking after the baby, on the phone to various people.
I'll make a thread on this topic tomorrow.
The baby was a joy and delight all day. I love him so much.
2 of our good friend called in with a card and flowers, stayed for a cuppa and met the baby .

None of the children want to come to the funeral and I am glad about that. The 13 and 10 year old were given the choice. One of the things mum and I agreed on was not having children at funerals. If they wanted to go of course, they would have come I told GS1 my mum's opinion, after he had said he didn't want to go. He said he didn't want to come anyway ( giving seeing people upset and being bored as his reasons ) but said he felt even better now he knew he was following nanna's wishes

OH has cooked so we are about to eat now .

Lizzie, pleased the lady doing the class recovered well.

Had plenty of sunshine today, but it was a bit chilly.

We had some good news today.
Our 33 year old niece got the results of a biopsy on a breast lump.
                  Its a benign cyst.

Nanto, that really is good news for your niece, and I'm sure it's a weight of all your minds.

Lizzie, what a shock when the lady leading the class collapsed. I wonder what caused it, and I hope she has a check up in case it happens again.

Gem, I feel your frustration that you can't register your Mum's death yet. Everything grinds to a halt over week-ends and Bank Holidays, which makes matters worse. When my cousin passed away I think it was much longer than that before I could register the death. We were held up by the Coroner's office but eventually had a certificate from the Coroner to allow the undertaker to proceed with his arrangements, but still couldn't get a death certificate. Your GS1 is a very honest and mature little boy, and I'm sure his Nana was very proud of him and his cousins. Everything must be taking its toll on you at the moment. We all understand that sometimes posting on here is just not an option. Try and get as much rest as you can.

Gem, everything seems to be on hold for you, due to it being a bank holiday weekend.

                        Nice and sunny this morning.

No plans for me today. Hubby will be out for a couple of hours.

Dinner is braising steak, mash and cabbage.

So much red tape and frustration especially right on a bank holiday , GS was honest it isn’t where he wants to be and boring for a little one they don’t understand the gravitas of the day as such .
When my Mother died my DS was 9 we asked if he wanted to go he didn’t .

                          Daisy
Did you sleep well after your busy day 😀 B didn’t stop long at MILs he said she was being a pain again,

                          Lizzie
Hope the lady was ok , maybe she hadn’t drank enough water before the class or hadn’t eaten.

Its a lovely morning, B has been a darling had all the housework done before I got up .
All I had to do was have breakfast and get washed .

Hello Ladies I also wrote a post on Wednesday and forgot to post it I closed my laptop when I had a visitor and forgot all about it .

The sun is shining this morning and I have been up since 6am after sleeping for 7hrs the first time I have slept through for such a long time.

Today DS1 arrives back home after his LVegas holiday he sounds as though he has enjoyed his break away with his friend he said the prices of things have gone so expensive over the past few years I will get all the lowdown when he calls in today.

This week I have had little visitors by way of my GGC all three of them and my DGSs partner's little boy who tagged along he is the same age as my eldest GGS. DD who has the patience of a saint had them for the day whilst mummy & daddy where at work so DD took them to Liverpool for the day with the help of my eldest DGD (21) it was lovely to see them but loads of glass polishing when they had gone lol.

Next Friday I am off to Ladies Day at The Grand National in Aintree I have never been before and it is a treat from DDs partner as a very early B'day present I have bought a pale lilac floaty 3 piece trouser suit from Ebay brand new with tags topped with a fascinator on a band which fits around my hair when it is put up all finished off with a sparkly pair of shoes by Irregular Choice given to me by DD as she has changed her mind on her colour scheme so hopefully I should scrub up OK.DD and DGD are having make-up done by a professional make up artist they must be mad I am doing my own courtesy of Mr Max Factor & Rimmel .

DS1 has just arrived back here this morning and along with LV fridge magnets and others trinkets he has bought me a new Apple iPad such a thoughtful boy I have, he said they are half the price that you pay in the Apple shops here his friend bought one also she was amazed at the price.

I'm off to do some ironing now all the bedding is dry enough to iron and get put away will catch up again soon bye for now xx

Good Good Friday morning, everyone. We had frost again overnight, but the sun is out now and it's 9C.

Glamm, how lovely to see all your GGC plus one. I bet they were all very excited. I love getting fridge magnets from my family's travels, and we've got an LV one! You wonder why something like an iPad is so much cheaper in America than here. What a lovely present from your thoughtful DS.

I hope the sun shines for you on Ladies Day. You will look every bit as glamorous as your GRU Name, and I hope we get to see some photos of you in your beautiful outfit. It must be a sign of me getting old, but I couldn't help thinking "I hope those sparkly shoes are comfortable for you"!! xx

Nanto, I needed that steaming cup of coffee this morning! Yesterday was a long day, even though great fun. I love braising steak when other people have cooked it. I never seem to get it very tender.

Gem, I do hope the massage from your DD's friend helps with managing the sciatica pain. I'm glad you are seeing baby E a lot - babies are the best medicine.

Oma, a big 'well done' to B for getting the housework done. He's a star. What a shame his MIL's mood has changed again. You'd think she would realise that nobody will stay long when she's being "difficult".

I'm doing a couple of loads of washing today, and then some baking for Monday. I still haven't decided what to do, but I took a short cut and bought an iced but undecorated Madeira cake which I'll decorate. I've got some cakes and things in the freezer, I've bought a couple of quiches as well.

Plant, if you're travelling home today, safe journey.
