Good Sunday morning, everyone. It's chilly here, but at least it's dry.

Nanto, I like the pretty graphic - it's a cheery start to another cold day.

Gem, I bet there was lots of chatter and laughter last night. I imagine it's great fun when you all get together like that.

Lizzie, you are very good to your GDs, and good at finding the good buys in the shops. Those coats sound lovely and snug.

Oma, that hour's nana nap probably did you more good than a whole night of being restless and waking up every 5 minutes. What are you going to plant in your borders? Cats will be cats, won't they! Have you got to get plants for your new pots as well? I find it hard to get rid of old pots - I've got some terracotta ones that must be nearly 40 years old!

Plant, it's good to hear that GD1 and H are both nearly better. It's always hard providing a pet with walkies when the family is sill, but a few quiet days won't do a dog any harm. GD is such an animal lover and I bet she likes having the dog in the family.

Daisy, we do have a lot of laughs and chatter. DD2 asked something and all 3 of us answered her in exactly the same way at the same time, which caused hilarity. The DDs said imagine how weird it must be for anyone outside the family witnessing us

I haven’t bought anything for the boarders yet , the bottom boarder is in the shade so I have likes of box hedge etc in there
The top boarder near the house is where I plant my summer plants in .
We have the ball shaped box hedge sort of thing in the pots on the drive and they are thriving I just need to transplant those into new pots when I find them .

Dobbies had nothing in that I fancied , they did have two tall planters but they were £69 each and only plastic . I will keep looking we have several garden centres nearby I will look in .

How awful that a 10 year old isn't safe to walk home from school. It's even more menacing that he was hiding in wait for her. Well done to her for kicking him where it hurt - quick-thinking and brave lass. Our GD1 has quite a long walk from her bus stop to home and through the winter it's already dark, so her mum and dad get to to get off at a different stop, in the town centre and then she's at least got well lit pavement to walk round to their shop. She walks straight home now it's light after school.

Gem, I would have loved to have seen you all making the same comment at the same time! Brilliant!

Oma, what a pity you didn't get your new planters, but at least now you've got a reason to visit another lovely garden centre, have a browse round and possibly have lunch or at least a coffee. It will be fun choosing plants for summer colour later on.

Lizzie, I've used Stone paint from B&Q - you just spray it on, so easy even I couldn't go wrong! I actually used it on the wooden tops of two bedside tables we made some years ago from old pub tables with ornate iron legs. We've never had to respray them, and still look fine.

We had a lovely time yesterday. It sounds a bit like Gem and her DDs when they get together - lots of chat (often noisy) and laughter. DIL had some lovely early presents (her actual birthday is tomorrow, Monday) and there was lots of food and wine too. We got home quite late and very tired. Eva is still recovering! All the excitement, and making sure everybody gave her a fuss kept her busy, plus of course, Bailey the BC to play with, squirrels to chase in the garden and all sorts of interesting cat things around. Eva is naughty, she chases DIL's cat every time, so now puss gets to spend the afternoon in their walk-in-wardrobe, protected from Eva by 2 closed doors. She has food and water laid on and can get in and out onto a low roof through the window.

Quite a busy Sunday for me!
I had a chat over breakfast with DD3 then she went home.
OH and I had a look around an art and craft fair where our friends had a stall. Then we went for our roast pork which was very nice. Then to a garden centre where we bought some flower and tomato seeds .
We are watching the Dancing Ice semi final now.
We are looking after baby GS3 tomorrow so I will probably get an early night

Gem, she is a very spoiled kitty, with all mod cons laid on in the wardrobe!

Good morning everyone.

Daisy, it does sound as though the cat has her own en suite apartment!

DD3 is back to work, part time. She has donated the last month of her maternity leave to SIL. I think she regrets it now but they decided some time ago. She is dropping the baby with us this morning on her way to work, as SIL needs a day to sort the house out fully after the building work.
We are looking forward to having him. Apart from the feeding as its baby led weaning for the solids and very messy!!!

Our new neighbours haven't arrived yet. Ex neighbour said they were moving in on Saturday.

Good Monday morning everyone. There seem to be some snowy weather forecasts around for the next few days, so stay safe and warm.

Nanto - your little bunny graphic is how I feel - I need wrapping up in a warm blanket and a nice cup of tea to drink! And a home-made pie for dinner would be perfect. Perhaps your new neighbours want to do some jobs on the house before they move in.

Gem, baby lead weaning - what fun! I remember a house-husband neighbour making a gourmet lunch for their baby which included little broad beans which he'd painstakingly removed the skins from. The "lucky" baby wasn't in the least impressed and chucked them right across the room. Dad's face was a picture because it had taken him ages to prepare them while baby was having a nap!

It was thoughtful of your DD3 to give baby's dad part of her maternity leave, and I'm sure he will appreciate it, even though it sounds as though he has a few jobs to do on the house as well as care for baby E.

No plans for me today. OH is out this evening so I might cook for mid-day rather than this evening. It's my DIL1's birthday today and DS1 is taking her for a day out in London, a nice meal and then to see ABBA Voyage at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. They're going by train so DIL doesn't have to drive, so I hope that works out ok for them.

Lovely party for DD yesterday, their 3 grandchildren enjoyed themselves, H copied her cousins. GD1, Sil and DD’s Dil took the dog for a walk in the woods, the dog loved it and came back exhausted. DD and Sil’s home looked as if a bomb had hit it but the children did enjoy themselves.

Daisy the dog GD has inherited is a Scottie, she doesn’t show much emotion, difficult to tell if she is happy or not. Have you ever had any experience with this breed?

Plant, I've never had a Scottie. There is one at the end of our road. If he's in the garden when we pass he runs round the fence barking at Eva. She ignores him. Previous neighbours opposite us had several Scotties - she bred them. They were all perfectly nice happy dogs, but as you say, it's hard to tell what their mood is, their body language seems quite subtle! But one of them was a very unhappy dog who would suddenly nip. She had gone for both of our Yorkies at different times. But after a lot of heart searching, she went to a home where there were no other dogs, and she was like a different animal - gentle and sweet as could be. I think she just didn't like living with other dogs. So I think, like any breed, their personalities can vary. I do remember our groomer saying you have to be careful to keep under their chin groomed, as they can get very matted there and then it's hard to groom out.

I'm glad your DD has such a lovely birthday with all her GDs, and I can imagine there would be a bit of tidying up to do afterwards. Well worth it though! I hope she can take it easy today.

We have been to Aldi B making lamb hot pots for MIl and we have no carrots ,
Its absolutely freezing out there ,
GS coming for tea he wants Lasagne so B making it for us too ,
Im not a great fan of anything pasta but I will eat, it it saves doing different meals I suppose.

Good morning, I just managed to get caught in the rain, again, on the bike, my jacket is waterproof but jeans are not! I have just messaged the friends that we are going to the pool in the car, I don't fancy getting caught in a shower again.

What a dreadful accident in Wales with the young people. The poor families!

Gem, enjoy your day with the baby, the women don't get long maternity leave here. I remember DIL telling me that. I have just read, it is 16 weeks, you can spread that out by having 4 weeks before the birth then 12 after the baby is born.

Plant, I didn't realise the poor girl in the attack was only 10 years old. Good for her to react so well. A friend of mine has a Scottie, they always have had actually.
