    Good morning.

Mimi, we are lucky,we don't have any problems with flooding.
Its very rare either of us get bored. Both of us can uaually find something to do.
We have lots of spring bulbs making an appearance, and the smowdrops are in flower.

No plans for today, apart from housework.

Dinner will be chicken and bacon pie, mashed potatoes, cabbage and carrots. Served with cchicken gravy.

Hope Plant and B are both on the road to recovery.

      Good morning ladies.

Plant, how lovely to see WG

Daisy how are you today? I hope you were just feeling cold rather than going down with one. I think we need to be kind to ourselves at this dismal time of year and with all these bugs going round. More relaxation!

It is a boring time of year Mimi. If I didn't have regular things calling on my time I may well be bored. Roll on Spring!

      Dinner sounds good Nan2.

It is my first morning back as volunteer at the new library. I planned to be there last week for the opening day (and may have got on the telly if I had!) I was still coughing with a croaky voice though so didn't think it was the best look! The public can't differentiate between staff and volunteers, they just notice the lanyard, so you do get lot of questions. The manager is still on sick leave and her assistant has moved on so it is all new people for me to work with. I am a bit nervous of new layout and new people, but will put my Big Girl Pants on
School pick up for GS1 today then he is staying the night. Unless he gets cold feet, he is quite clingy to home at present.

      Rain forecast here all day.

Miserable outside, dark and wet. I am out to lunch with my Trefoil friends (ex Guiders). I have to pick up a friend and she is in the opposite direction to the restaurant and the main road to her is closed, so a deter is needed.

Mimi, if gardening is your only hobby then the winter months must be frustrating for you.

Gemini, I hope all goes well for you in the Library, I am sure it will be fine. I hope your mum is feeling better. Your GS1 must be feeling he would rather be at home with his mum but I am sure he will be fine with you, he must be feeling very shocked about the marriage break-up he sounds a deep thinker but you are his constant.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone. More rain for us, with no end in sight at the moment.

Mimi, we get a lot of flooding around the village. There's a stream that runs across the end of the main shopping road and inevitably that floods when the drains get overwhelmed. There are height markers so you don't drive through it when it's too deep! It then backs up out of the village to the extent that ducks have taken up home in two places. Fortunately it never reaches houses as it's mostly marshy areas around there anyway. Walking in the Forest can be "interesting" when all the streams and inlets break their banks. These areas are preserved as wetlands to encourage rare species of plants, so in a way the floods are good.

Nanto, how lovely to see your Spring bulbs growing. Ours are quite slow at the moment, but they usually deliver eventually. I've noticed the birds singing a lot more these last few days, which makes you think of better days to come.

Gem, I do hope your first time at the new library goes well. I'm sure you will soon get used to the new layout, and the public will understand that it's new for all of you. I'm sure they're very appreciative of any help. I hope GS1 feels up to staying the night. It gives your DD a break and hopefully he will see you and your home as a constant in his life. He's such a sensitive little boy, isn't he, and he's coping very well. How is your Mum today?

Plant, I'm so pleased to hear you are feeling well enough to go to your Trefoil lunch. Take care having to make a detour to pick up your friend. Will that road be closed for long?

OH is out this morning, so I'm going to wizz round with the sucky up thing and may even flap the fluffy yellow thingy round a bit as well.

          Back later.

I shouldn't have said that I would be bored today....

Was up at sparrows cough as we had a man coming to look at our kitchen ceiling, it needs touching up a bit. He arrived and almost an hour later ( boy, he can talk the hind leg off a donkey) he left promising to be in touch but it might be a few months as he's very busy....... then
another man arrived to have a look and give a quote for doing some work in the porch..... then
As it wasn't raining we decided to hand deliver SIL's birthday card and then have a quick look around The Range which is just across the road. I spent a total of 98p in there on two packets of seeds (The last of the big spenders eh? )
Just got indoors and my friend rang for a chat and how I am going to get some lunch. Its only 1pm and we've done so much already I thought I'd be bored!
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Mimi, it certainly hasn't been boring so far! I have days like that as well. Wow, you really went to town at The Range, didn't you! It's nice to be thinking about seeds again though. It must mean the end of winter is in sight!

I hope this afternoon is equally varied. x

I started pushing the sucky up thing round downstairs, intended just to give it a quick going over before doing a proper job on the upstairs, but the sucky up thing suddenly started to smell of burning rubber. I switched it off quick! I took a deep breath and lugged the big heavy Dyson upstairs and spent half an hour pushing that round. I don't use it very often but I can already see the difference in my biceps.

Mimi, my day turned out to be busy as well. I went next door to look at her new dining chairs, they are really nice, leather and very smart, she was telling me she bought them on Ebay and that the couple had 4 more for sale, I said they would look nice in my kitchen, and, they do! She got in touch with the couple and we went to pick them up, so nice at the table. I am really pleased with them. They are a slightly higher sitting than the ones I had as well. The man was telling M that they were made by a professional chair maker for a school, they made a 100 of this design , this couple bought 10 when they got the chance, they now have other chairs so these were for sale. So my afternoon went different to what I had planned, it is awful weather anyway, very wet and windy.

Daisy, you did right to change the "sucky things" when you smelt rubber.

Busy day for you all. My day wasn't too busy, but i did get somehouse work done.

Lizzie,i'm thinking about some new dining chairs as well.
I've looked at them on Amazon, not got round to looking on ebay yet.

Had a lot of rain here as well today.

Lizzie, what a lovely surprise finding those chairs just like that! Serendipity. I think it's quite hard to get comfortable dining chairs. Ours match the dining room table and are roomy and comfortable but quite heavy to lift. The ones at the kitchen table were at the cheap end of Ikea, but they are comfortable as well. We've noticed that a lot of dining chairs seem quite low - not sure if this is a new thing, fashion, or are tables getting taller!

Gem, how did the first day in the new library go?

Oma, I'm sure you must be tired, and hope you sleep well tonight after your dental surgery. xx

We ended up with an unexpected visitor for lunch, which was a nice surprise.

It's rained off and on all day again.

Plant I'm happy to hear you felt up to going out. You can't keep a good woman down!

Those Dysons are heavy Daisy. That is certainly your workout for the day.

Mimi, that will teach you to complain about being bored

Lizzie, you are always busy! It worked out well about the chairs didn't it?

The library morning was lovely, busy and all went well. I hope to stay for lunch in the reading cafe soon as my shift ends at 1.

GS came out of school happy. He got the Good Work Assembly award, which he has yearned for for a long time. He also proudly brandished the letter he spent the wet lunchtime writing to Rishi Sunak! (This has no connection to the award) All his own idea apparently, berating RS over the state of the NHS!
He settled fine at bedtime, with just a couple of extra hugs and I love you's for OH and me, but after that fell asleep .

I am tucked up in bed too now so I will say Goodnight to all.
I hope Oma gets some relief from the tooth and jaw pain and gets some decent sleep

                              Good Wednesday morning everyone.

Gem, well done to GS1 on his award, and you must have been pleased that he was happy to stay over with you. Most of all, in the midst of his own uncertainties at the moment, I think it's brilliant that he has looked at the state of the NHS and has done his bit to help by writing to the PM. I hope he gets a response.

Flowers and Christmas cake - your mum will be very pleased. The new library sounds lovely - I hope the reading cafe was nice as well.

Oma, I was wondering how, or if, you had slept last night. I'm sure you will feel heaps better when you can eat normally. Storm will keep you (gently) occupied today, but no running round the park with him!

Are you pleased with your Dyson cordless? Our Dyson isn't a ball one - it's just a normal push and shove one, but very heavy - heavier than my DIL2's ball Dyson was. It does a good job, but I can't even push it over the bedside rugs and it's very cumbersome. It's our GTec that's just broken, and I want something equally lightweight.

We restart dog training today - I haven't told Eva yet! Haha. We're still trying to sort out our ultra fast broadband connection. No-one else in the estate seems to be having problems except us! It's very frustrating and time consuming.

But, the sun's shining for now, so I'll take Eva out for a little walk and do some prep for dinner tonight.
