MIL wasnโ€™t too bad today ,
When we went in she said she wasnโ€™t well but she says that to everyone all the time ,
We will be there minutes and she miraculously recovers ๐Ÿ™„

Did a few jobs and she was happy enough when we left ,

I got a telling off for not picking some cream up from Boots that she had ordered on Monday ,
I knew nothing about it , She said well U (Bs sister ) knew she was with her when she ordered it ,

I pointed out that as I wasnโ€™t there how the hell was I to know Iโ€™m not psychic

Oh she said I never thought of that ๐Ÿ™„
    Lord give me strength ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

We then went to Aldi on way home ,
After lunch I cleared a few drawers out in my dressing table , but apart from that I basically lazed around all afternoon .
We have had Fish & Chips for tea but I feel a bit sick now as we ate too much ๐Ÿคข

Oh dear, this is a "Hello and Good Night" post.

The carpet fitters have finished and done a lovely job. It will take several days to put everything back in place, because we had to empty cupboards etc to move them. I took Eva over to DS2's for most of the day so she could play with Cooper and leave the carpet man to get on with fitting. He's worked so hard. I'll take photos when the rooms are tidied up.

I'm shattered and just off to bed. Night, night. Sleep well.

Yesterday we disconnected our landline phone. Only 3 people in our family actually called us on it the rest of the calls were made up with cold calls and scams.
The phone was so old that hearing the caller on the other end had become very difficult. I did toy with the idea of buying a new phone but I had a word with myself and changed my mind. Myself and OH haven't actually made any phone calls on it for many years so it seemed pointless throwing money on something that was basically just going to sit and collect dust and not be of any practical use.
We both have mobile phones with call packages.

We spent ages in the garden trying to construct a squirrel proof barrier for our two planters that I had planted with daffodils and pansy.s The dear little 'darlings' ( not what I call them under my breath) like nothing better than to dig up newly planted plants and bulbs.
We did eventually manage to cover the planters with netting and pegs to hold it all in place. Now, to the casual passers-by this might appear an easy thing to do but taking into consideration that it was extremely windy and given that netting is very light and loves nothing more than clinging to every object in your average garden except than the thing you want it to. It also loves clinging to the two idiots who decided that windy conditions were the best time to attempt this simple (!) task.
Only time will tell if we have succeed in the on going battle with the squirrels.

Oma, you lazing around in the afternoon ! Good heavens, what is the world coming to ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜‰

            Good morning. Dry and bright.

We are eating out today at a nearby pub. Booked a table for 1.30.

Mimi, we only kept our landline for mam and dad. They were the only ones who rang us on the landline.
Now they are both gone we got rid of it, and we don't miss it.

              Good morning everyone.

Daisy, I hope you slept well, and can have a good rest once the things are all back in place. You deserve it!

Good luck with the squirrel defences Mimi!

              Enjoy your pub lunch Nan2

As I had my GD and GS2 yesterday, it is Mum day today, we swapped the days round! I will visit her this afternoon, probably picking something up for her from the bakers as I go.
I had a good result yesterday from my recent NHS bowel cancer screening test. OH has a bone density scan today. The drug we both take can deplete calcium from bones, so they like to check every so often.

I hope everyone is well today.

                Morning ladies

                Mimi
you do make me laugh it must have been like the chuckle brothers in your garden yesterday ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

                Hope your Mum is well,
I sent my sample away 2 weeks ago as Dr wanted it testing due to my Anemia,
no results back yet but then when we got home yesterday a letter to say annual check due and they will send a test kit in next two weeks , Im going to be well and truly checked .
Hope Ss scan is good .

                Nanto
Enjoy lunch makes a change doesnโ€™t it .
We still have a land line mostly for Bs Mam and our GS uses it if his phone runs down and he needs to contact his parents ,
He will ring us to pass messages on or if he needs us , itโ€™s only number he remembers .

Its really dark here and heavy rain , I need to go to Sainsburys but not in this Iโ€™m not.

Had a bad night , we had Fish & chips last night for tea and I had terrible heartburn all night ,
couldnโ€™t lay down as it was burning my throat and the taste of chips kept rifting up .

Tried propping myself up in our bed then went into spare bed as itโ€™s a profile bed so put that up, that didnโ€™t help .
Came downstairs and lay on sofa with cushions propping me up, still no better .
Eventually it settled by about 5:30 so I went back into our bed till 7 .

Think we will give Fish & chips a miss for a while ๐Ÿ™„

Have a good day ladies xx

I hope everyone with tests get good results.

Oma, heartburn is not nice especially when it keeps you awake. Have you tried a glass of milk before eating fish and chips, havenโ€™t tried it myself.

Gemini, I hope you find your mum well and cheerful.

Mimi do the squirrels just dig up the plants or do they eat the bulbs?

Nanto, right I have the chicken ready for the slow cooker, I thought I would add some bacon. I also have carrots, onions and I am going to pick up some mushrooms today. My slow cooker has a removable pan which I can put on the cooker to brown the meat. Chicken casserole for dinner tonight and some for the freezer. Enjoy your lunch out.

Oma, I love fish and chips but it can give me indigestion too, but thankfully not as badly as you had. I am on Omeprazole though.

Plant, apparently they like to nibble on tulip bulbs which we donโ€™t have.
I am convinced they dig up the daffodils because they are trying to wind me up and they are succeeding!
Our neighbours put out nuts for the squirrels which they like to bury in my planters hoarding away for winter.,

OH has just taken delivery of his gin which he has every other month. DIL suggested that he joined The Gin Club a few months ago so if I'm absent for a while you will know why ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿฅด

Good morning from what passes for normal in the Daisy household! The sun is shining and it's not too cold. Bins have been put out, Sainsburys have delivered something approximating to what I ordered. They can be very creative with substituted items, and today's stars were bouquet garni instead of bay leaves (well both begin with B!), fresh mango instead of fresh figs, which were supposed to be a treat for OH as he loves them, and smoked paprika instead of paprika. There were others, but not so bad!

OH is busy shaving tiny slivers of wood off some shelving as the new carpet is thicker than the old one and they don't quite fit. Honestly, it's as bad as moving house!

Mimi, it sounds as though you won't miss your landline. We use ours all the time because mobile reception is patchy, but that's the only reason. I had such a giggle at the mental picture of you trying to peg netting down, but admire your determination not to be beaten by it. Eva's very good at chasing squirrels - you can borrow her any time.

Nanto, enjoy your lunch out. It makes a nice change not having to cook.

Gem, I hope your Mum is ok this afternoon, and enjoys whatever goodies you get from the bakery. She does seem to like a cake or other treat doesn't she. Glad you got the all clear from the bowel screening - it's always a relief to get a negative result. I hope S's bone density scan is good as well. She's very active, so I'm sure that helps, doesn't it. I had to look up what Omeprazole was!

Oma, the medics are certainly looking after you with all those tests. Fingers crossed everything is ok. What a shame the fish and chips gave you such bad heartburn though. Perhaps they'd go down better in the middle of the day rather than the evening. It's awful when we get to the stage when what we eat in the evening has such horrible consequences. Have another lazy afternoon to make up for the loss of sleep. xx

Mimi, we never used to get squirrels but they're all over the place now. I found a very effective anti-squirrel bird feeder last winter, and was really pleased. I'll swap the other feeders over for this winter, little blighters. But it's much harder to protect your planters. There's not much you can do when neighbours put out nuts for the horrors, though.

Now a Gin Club sounds just the way to while away a cold, dark winter's evening. If your posts on here are all wobbly we'll know why!

Daisy we have our main meal at 5pm so not so late but it really acted up on me ๐Ÿ™„

Love the substitute food , I mean no one would notice the difference between Figs and Mango ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Does the house smell of new carpets , I bet Eva has snuffled around.

We had to wait in for my new kettle this morning we had ordered a Ninja one ,
Then went to Asda after lunch and over to Aldi for something we forgot.
I was so tired we came back and as B put the shopping away I laid on the sofa and knew no more for almost 80 minutes
I went to sleep instantly and actually surprised myself when I woke as I didnโ€™t remember falling asleep.

Oma, well done for having a nap.

Daisy I am still doing my own shopping at Waitrose but today was a big shop and I found it quite daunting unloading it and putting it away. I might do an online one when it is a large order. I think getting the bags into the car and then unloading them is not good for my painful shoulders. I could do with doing the shop and then having it delivered.

Baby H is not very well, I went in next door and she was snuggled up on the settee with Papa, DD was out shopping so I fetched my thermometer and her temperature was very high. Sil gave her some Calpol and she snuggled up again. DD and her mother were due back any moment. I hate to see the little ones feeling poorly.
