Good Morning ladies its very cold here to-day but a very low sun which shows every spot of dust in the lounge even though everywhere was polished to an inch of its life yesterday, the main problem is my coffee table which is all glass as Oliver the pesky cat has walked right across it during the night and left fat paw marks every where so he has had short shrift this morning and gone to visit Jim next door

I have decided to follow in the steps of Enfys and only stay at DDs for a short time on xmas day,I will keep my distance in her large kitchen which has big bi-fold doors into the garden then get home early, one of my DGs has decided to stay home with his girlfriend so only 5 of us now.

To-day I am having a telephone consult with a physio re the problems with my bad back I think its sciatica just can't understand how a telephone call can tell with out the results of maybe an xray ? Will just have to wait and see what he/she says.

Lizzie48 we are also very lucky to have a great traditional butcher in our local row of shops he makes all his own sausages and kebabs he is so popular you need to be there well before 10am as he sells out very quickly. He will also do small meat packages,my neighbour will get a steak/couple of sausages/lamb chop/burgers etc to last her the week it saves her going out every day.

Well off to RE-POLISH the coffee table and will talk soon xx
      Keep Calm,You're Fabulous

So pleased you like your new mattress Oma. I don't move in the night, sleep on my left side all night. I hope you can get some relief from that painful shoulder.

          Afternoon all.
Just spoke to my wonderful SIL . She has covid. She felt unwell on Saturday and twice a ambulance was in attendance for her but thankfully she didn't have to go into hospital.
She said she was improving a little each day but to be honest it didn't even sound like her on the phone. Listening to her trying to talk because she is so breathless is heart breaking. BIL has tested positive for covid and touch wood he seems to be ok.
SIL is front line HNS staff and she is so close to having her vaccine.

Had another bad nights sleep but pleased to say that the back isn't as painful as it was.

Glamm hope your phone call with your GP is productive and he is able to help you but as you say xrays or an MRI scan would be helpful.

          Have a good day everyone
Bring me sunshine in your smile.

Glamm, there are not many butchers left here, there is one in the village and very expensive compared to the Turkish one. I get the low sun in here, I hoovered through yesterday, with the sun this morning you wouldn't have known! I hope the phone call goes well, but, can't see how they can see what is wrong over the phone. I used to have a glass topped table, always cleaning it!!

Mimi, I do hope your SIL is soon feeling better.

I went to DS2 for coffee, GD1 asked if I fancied going for a bike ride! I told her it was very windy, it doesn't bother me with an electric bike, it was windy, she hadn't expected it to be so windy, she coped though and showed me where they cycle in the summer and took me to a bird look out!! Very muddy path to get there. I told her we were close to my veg man so we went there and I got a few things so don't have to go on Saturday. Then we "flew" home!! I enjoyed cycling with her though, good company.

GD2 showed me her bedroom, it has been decorated, photo wallpaper, very nice. She was telling me her friends mother has a special chocolate shop in the village and she went to help yesterday and she filled and wrapped 250 boxes of special chocolates. They would be for Christmas hampers for businesses .

What a day. Started doing the tree this morning, a job i hate.
Mam rang, i need 3 decent sized Christmas cards. Told her i will get some Saturday while we are out.
No she said,i need them today.
So off we go to the shops in our immediate area. Looked in the CO-OP, £3 each, which i thought was way overpriced for what they were.Looked in a couple more shops, but didn't have much.
Went to shop/post office about 15 minutes away. Queued for about 20 mintes, they were only allowing a couple of customers in at a time.
Managed to get some cards and drop them off for Mam. Ooo she says, these are too nice for the neighbours.
She hadn't said who they were for.
Came home, started on the tree again. Mam rang,we need a new loo roll holder, and Dad wanted one today.
Off we go again to Wickes, but didn't have the type he wanted.
Back home, back to the tree. Hubby says what do you want on the top, star or fairy.
My reply, the way things are going, i'll stick you're Mam and Dad on the b***** top.
              Rant over.

Oma, pleased your happy with the new mattress.

Of course I don't know your in-laws but they don't seem to realise you have a life and other calls on your time. I am afraid I would have said I will get it tomorrow, full stop.

Nanto - I've just read your post to my OH. We both think you should be awarded the gold medal for patience! I did wonder if she'd been to the same In-law School as Oma's MIL. At least you got the tree finished, and tomorrow is another day. xx

How lovely to have proper old-fashioned butchers nearby.

Glamm, I'm glad you've made a decision about Christmas Day, and I think you're being very sensible.

We got the tree up, and the lights on, but not yet decorated! But I've done other things - given the living room a really good clean and the hall - that's their lot for this year! I also cooked dinner, portioned up a load of meat for Eva and made a loaf for my friend M. She's running low so I thought a nice home-made loaf would see her through a few days if she freezes half of it.

Yet another early start to pick up Cooper, and I've still got some cards to write, and I want to put almond paste on our Christmas cake. Night, night evryone. Sleep well. xx

Not too cold here this morning.
Just descaled the kettle,so whatever else is happening in the world,we have a clean keckle. (Bit of Yorkshire speak there for you.)

Daisy, thank you for the kind comment about a gold medal.
We understand they can't do things like they used to do and need help.
But,sometimes they seem to think we have nothing else to do.
Hope they are both in a better frame of mind when i go this morning.

Nan2 ....... and breathe ..... what a day you had . Hope its more peaceful today.

Hope to have better news about SIL and BIL today .
No Tesco delivery today as we had it a day earlier than usual.

We have a very good butchers but they are quite a distance away but we get around that by ordering what we want on line and they deliver it free of charge They make all their own pies and sausages and they even do ready cooked 'Sunday dinner ' . We don't order the cooked dinners but it must be handy for those who for one reason or another can't cook .
When my dad got to the stage that he couldn't be bothered to get himself a mael from 'scratch ' and I wasn't able to get his lunch for him because of work we discovered Wiltshire Farm foods . They would deliver a huge range of precooked, frozen meals that could be reheated in the microwave. He said they were quite nice. Not sure if tge company is still going.

                      Hope everyone is well

                        Good morning dear ladies.

Nan2, definitely a gold medal needed for patience!! If you were to read back on the forum, along with Oma's MIL my mum made such unreasonable demands too and acted as though I had nothing else to do all week!! I know how you feel. Deep breaths x
What a windy bike ride that sounded Lizzie!
Mimi, I hope your SIL recovers soon. A couple of years ago my auntie hurt her back and was quite incapacitated for several weeks. Her son arranged Wiltshire Farm Foods for her. She showed us the brochure and they looked lovely, so much choice. She enjoyed them especially the mini meals as she had less appetite then. She doesn't have them now but they certainly saw her through a difficult patch and I would recommend them.
Glamma, don't write off a physio phone appointment, it may help you. I hope so. The one had for my prolapse, back in summer was so helpful. I was suffering so much but now due to her exercises although it won't go away it doesn't bother me at all.

Last night's fireworks were fantastic and as we were there not long after gates opening we were on row 2. It was all so well organised. Wonderful fireworks, set to music and the Queen's speech which she made during the first lockdown. Very moving. It was so good to go out!

GD and GS2 after school today. DD2 is picking them up and bringing them over. They are sleeping over so DD and SIL can celebrate their wedding anniversary.
DD1 is calling this morning to drop off presents to go to my sister.

Have a good day everyone. Stay well.

Good morning everyone , im just catching up on some threads

Gem so pleased you enjoyed last night , some normality as such

Nanto i sympathise on the in laws front , MIL did the same to us last week waited till we were back home then said she wanted something else
Its a nightmare at times .

Gem if no one has done the calendar in a hour i will do it but give someone else the chance first

I was in bed by 8pm last night ,I kept falling asleep watching TV , I had been up since 1.30 the night before so was shattered and I didn't get a Nana nap after lunch
Apart from a couple of trips to the loo during night I slept till 6am .

I went up to put my PJs on and climbed into bed B said he came up to see what I was doing as I was a long time and found me snoring ( I don't snore I make gentle snuffles )

Im not fat just 6ft too small

So pleased you had a decent nights sleep Oma, keep it up.

I will have to say hello and pop in later as I need to get showered and dressed and go to Waitrose. Behave whilst I am gone.

Good morning, everyone. Plant, we always behave (ahem!)

It's still pretty dark, pouring with rain, and generally a miserable day. I went over to fetch Cooper and then called in to my friend M to give her some bread. The dogs greet each other as though they haven't seen each other for ages (2 days!) and have no concept of social distancing.

Oma - thank goodness you've caught up on your sleep a bit. Of course, none of us snore, just gentle lady-like snuffles.

Gem - what a lovely evening you had. As you say, it's great to get out and do something 'normal'. Having the GCs tonight will be good too. Have they broken up from school today?

Nanto and Mimi - what clever ladies - colour co-ordinated graphics. Nanto - how were your in-laws today? Gem, I thought about your mum as well, especially wanting a bank pass book instead of letting you do it online, and how difficult it was get her her to stick to arrangements, but I do feel sad for her in the current situation. Although she's being very well cared for it's hard not being able to see her family. xx

There are some lovely Advent pics on the Advent thread this year - every time I look I've been beaten to it by an earlier bird.
