Gem, apparently some of the people had been nasty to the lift men, I said to them " you have to do your work', they said I was the first one to say that and that people didn't realise that.

Oma, you do look after your Christmas decorations!

I have been for the fysio exercise class, it is working well, I can walk normally again.

They would have appreciated your kindness even more then Lizzie! Good news about the exercises

Off to my friend's house with cards and presents now.

Some people are so ready to complain Lizzie, I am sure they appreciated a friendly word.

My cards are all posted or delivered by the local Scouts except for one. The greeting in my cards says Merry Christmas, as the recipient has recently lost her husband, I don't think it is appropriate so I will look for another one. Aqua for me later, I shall not be visiting the toilet in my wet costume today!

Daisy, I hope the soaking you got yesterday hasn't made you poorly. We are having overnight rain but sunny days.

The quiz with your friends is very frustrating for you Gemini. Have a lovely visit with your mum.

My Sil's brother and his family have the virus, he is in hospital but feeling better and hopes to be home by the weekend.

Glamm, what a lovely GS. You need a bit of help and he likes to help his GM.

Good morning everyone. Thank you all for your kind concern after yesterday's drenching. Yes, I'm fine and a good night's sleep has restored my energy. I went to fetch Cooper first thing and both dogs are now tired and having a snooze!

Plant I do hope your SIL's brother and his family are ok and better for Christmas. Your GD1 and her partner must be getting excited about moving into their flat, and getting bits and pieces together for their first proper home. Do you think they might have a Christmas baby?

Lizzie - you must feel so much better after those physio exercises. People take things like walking for granted - until it becomes a problem. I would much rather lifts were properly looked after than risk them getting stuck between floors! People don't think.

Oma - the hairdresser vouchers are a good idea. I hope MIL will be pleased.

Nanto - enjoy your visit to GD1's tonight.

Gem - I'd have the same problem with quizzes using my phone. I'm far too slow! I'm sure it will be interesting to talk to the inspector today. At long last, you can see your mum, even if it is a window visit. A lot of care homes are organising 'bubble' rooms. I wish your mum's home would do that too. I was talking to a gentleman in the check out queue at Waterstones yesterday and he was saying his wife's care home has set aside a room and screened it in half with an intercom so resident and visitor can hear each other properly. They book half hour slots, and he was so delighted to get one for Christmas Day.

I must try and get the cards finished today - nearly there!

Just had my Elderly neighbour in , she rang to say her husband had been taken into hospital during the night with blocked bowel , he had this last year

She was in a state so I told her to come along for a chat and a coffee ,
She hasn't slept or eaten with worry ,
I managed to persuade her to have some toast while she was here at least its something on her stomach ,

She looked dreadful and very tearful , they are going to decide today if they are going to operate on him ,
Her sons turned up and took her back down home so I know she isnt alone .

She wants some shopping so we will take her to Aldi first thing in the morning for them opening it will get her out and take her mind of things ,
She wants to go with us at 7.30 while its empty , I did say we would get what she wanted but she needs to go out i think

They are such lovely people , I dread to think what would happen to her if he died , she has 6 children and 21 grand children plus several GGC but Robert is her life
            such a worry

Daisy, the Covid in mum's care home has delayed any form of indoor visits I think. I hope soon something will be organised for that.

Oh how worrying for your neighbour Oma, and her poor husband. I'm sure she appreciated your kindness.

I hope your SILs family make a good recovery Plant.

I had a nice on-the-drive chat with my friends when we swapped presents this morning.

Oma, how upsetting, she will be upset, I do hope her hubby recovers. 6 children and 21 grandchildren, what an achievement!

Yes Daisy when we can walk etc with no problems it all goes automatic!! I must say the exercises are helping.

Plant, I hope your SIL's brother and family all recover soon, there is far too much of it about!

Struggling today if truth be told, still in pain with my stupid back .
We haven't done a lot today. We went out to post yet another Christmas card and then OH suggested we take a look at the bungalows that are being built across the road from the post office. He then wanted to walk a little further to where he used to work as a boy and before we knew it we were quite a fair distance from home.
What a sight we must have loked like walking home, what with my back making me walk like Mrs Overall and his tired legs making him lag behind me!
When we got home we had a coffee and didn't move off the sofa for over a hour!

Oma your poor neighbour, she must be so worried and you are really a lovely lady offering to help her x

Plant I hope your SIL's family get well soon

Mimi your poor back , that long walk wouldn't have helped at all , you need to put your feet up for a day or so .

B had to go back to our neighbours she rang in a panic , she had a message saying someone had tried to use her husbands card in Dunelm and she didn't know what to do ,
B went down thinking it may be a scam but when he phoned their bank they put him onto the fraud dept and yes someone did try to use his card , so after they spoke to her and she gave them permission to sort it with B , they cancelled the card and when her husband comes out of hospital he has to ring and arrange a new card .

One of her DS's rang B to say thank you for helping but anyone would do the same , im sure no one would let her be upset if they can do something to help

Oma - your poor neighbours. I do hope Robert is ok, and doesn't need surgery. You can understand his wife being distraught, poor lady. You're very good to them, and I'm sure you're right - she just needs to get her own shopping to get her out of the house for a while. She certainly didn't need the extra worry of her husband's card details being stolen.

Mimi - I do feel for you with your back being so painful. I think usually a bit of gentle exercise is good, but it sounds as though you went on a bit of an expedition. Are you thinking of moving with looking at the new bungalows?

Lizzie - the exercises are certainly worth keeping up if they have made so much difference.

I seem to have had a busy day without much to show for it. Definitely bed-time now. Night, night, sleep well everyone.

Good morning from a foggy Holland! Oma, what a carry on with your neighbours card, you have to be so alert with everything.

Mimi, I do hope your back improves.

I want to go to the Lidl and another supermarket early, get my fruit at the market and that is my exciting day.

                                Good morning everyone.
That's about as exciting as it gets these days Lizzie!
Oma, that poor lady must feel overwhelmed with all that has gone on.

I'll update about seeing my mum yesterday on that thread.
This morning we are going to see my auntie. Warm coats and gloves on for a stand outside her patio doors! On the way back we will check my mum's house and collect any cards there, and drop off a present for my friend who lives nearby.
A few things to be getting on with at home this afternoon.
                                Enjoy your day ladies.
