Daisy, the arrangements were very nice, as you say, slices of tree trunks! I often call in at the shop, I had a tour round the growing plants a few years ago, interesting! I hope your hand soon gets better, all these aches and pains as we get older.

Oma, I have a bad shoulder, I had pain for years, as you say, mostly in bed, where to put that arm, a couple of years ago I went to a manual therapist for my back, he said he would have a go at my shoulder, he did, and ever since I can use it again, I do feel it now and again but nothing like it was. As FairyQueen said, I do the exercise and try to so those when I am at the gym as well. I was just reading about your DD's friend, it is so sad when children lose their mother so young, no age at all.

Plant, I hope the plumber has been in touch now.

After a lovely sunny day yesterday it is dull and drizzly again. GD2 was going away with school camp today but because of the stricter Covid rules it has been cancelled. She said if they had been away last week it would have been no problem.

Oh how disappointing for your granddaughter Lizzie.
GS1 has a birthday next month, He is looking forward to that and Halloween which he loves, but we don't know how much celebration he will be allowed to have.

Plant - I hope you managed to pin your plumber down to coming to fix your bathroom radiator. You'll need it with the weather getting colder.

FQ - is your boiler all ready to go yet? It's a miserable day, so a good time to give it its first airing. Are you feeling ok now? I hope you escape full lockdown. It's very unsettling, isn't it.

Gem - how sad about your friend leaving two small children as well. I think it's incredibly sad when little children lose their mums. They must grow up with a permanent sense of loss and may not even remember them at all. I hope Oma's DD's friend's children have a close and loving family around them.

Frozen shoulder sound so painful - and hard to overcome.

Oma - my sore thumb is DeQuervain's tenosynovitis. The sheath of the tendons of the thumb get inflamed, and it's a bit like RSI, probably through years of using a big heavy camera. I often held it in my left hand rather than take the weight on the strap which hurt my neck. You can have injections for it but there's nobody at our surgery qualified to give them! That's what they say, anyway. I've typed up a lot of letters this morning which isn't too bad and smothered it in Volterol gel to reduce the inflammation.

Oma - I meant to say earlier - your stag picture looks lovely, and the frame really suits it.

Lizzie - It sounds a bit disparaging when I said about lumps of tree trunks, but I didn't mean it like that! It's the comment I always make to OH when I find he's smuggled more wood into the garden for seasoning and turning - "oh, another lump of tree trunk!" He's got about 50 years' worth! It sounds like an interesting shop to browse round.

Gem - it's good to hear your mum is ok after all the excitement of her birthday.

Thank you Daisy its the one B bought me out of Dunelm when we took his Mam for curtains ,
It fits well on that wall as its a lot bigger than it looks on the photo ,

The thumb sounds so painful , i bet it prevents you doing too much when its hurting

Oma - it's only a thumb, but yes, there are simple things it just won't co-operate on, like opening a child-proof cap on a bottle of vitamin pills. Housework isn't a problem - I'll just leave it.

Oma I can’t take anti inflammatories either. I take aloe Vera organic juice and that seems to control inflammation. The government are saying that the NHS is ‘open for business’ but it’s certainly not the case round here. It has taken weeks for me to get a blood test and my Husband had to have physio by telephone- quite ridiculous.
Daisy, boiler all done and working well! Thank goodness. x

Do you get that in Holland and Barret FQ ? anything is worth a try ,

I have just received a text to say my follow up appointment post op will be by telephone on 30th October
I suppose it will be all questions and making a diagnosis how im doing from that

Oma I get it from Amazon. Just put in aloe Vera juice and take your pick. Mine is Aloe Pura. I have had the organic one as well. I keep mine in the fridge and take it in the morning. x

Bits of positive news around here (and we can all use some cant we?!)
DD1 has sold her house, again, and the owners of the house they are buying have finally found somewhere to buy! Also Mum had lunch downstairs and spent a lot of her day down there and enjoyed it, so I am told

Gem - what a good day. You're right, we all do need good news at the moment.

I can't take anti-infammatories either so it's good to know about the Aloe Vera option. I use Volterol gel for my thumbs and any other bits that are creaking, and that works well. It's just not very practical to use on your hands when you have to keep washing them, though. And then there's the whole pantomime of putting the gel on one hand using the other hand, and then trying to wash it off the 'putting on' hand without washing it off the poorly hand.

Oma - how on earth can they do a follow up appointment like that by phone! I would have thought they'd need to see the operation site etc.

Daisy, OH's next oncology appointment (in 6 months time) is to be a video one. I think these will become more common.

Not the same as face to face but at least they have chance of seeing how people are doing rather than relying on the phone.
